R&B singer Monica is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to to her 2006 effort ‘The Makings Of Me’. Speaking to Metro Weekly last month, she revealed that she is in the process of ‘writing and putting songs together’ for the new project. The ‘So Gone’ singer added that the album will be released ‘far sooner than her typical three-or-more year wait between albums’.Considering the terrible sales of ‘The Makings Of Me’, it makes sense for her to release another album soon. I actually liked the CD; it was the single choices and poor promotion -in my opinion- that messed up the project. I’m pretty anxious to hear what she comes up with on this new album.
Will you be checking for Monica?

I luv that chick..I have all of her albums 2..She is so under-rated. They did pu out all the wrong singles, and had some fucked up promo…

I like Monica but I didn’t get the ‘Making of Me’ album I was waiting to hear other singles to see the flow of it, I liked ‘Everytime the Beat Drops’ if that was what it was called it grew on me but I never heard anything else,
Anyway do your thing girlie, she’s got that voice

i like mo’ too. but the last cd singles were not enough to make me buy it.
“after the storm” was straight fire.. every song was a banger. thats the kind of music i like from her. i still got love for her and i know she was tryna be different and she changed so im not mad at her at all

Monica got alot of work to do if she’s to rebound from the Makings of Me. She can sing, but she needs to upgrade her sound. I have liked Monica since her first album Miss Thang (her best album to this date). She actually sung with more passion on that first album. I’m sick of hearing her rap too. She need to just lay down some straight hardcore vocals and then I’ll be checking for her. She seems to be stuck in a rut and not advancing with her sound. She’s getting lost in the mix.

The Makings Of Me was not promoted well by J records and I think that was the problem, hopefully they canget it together but reguardless I am a Monica fan.

Monica has a beautiful voice and her sound is timeless unlike some artist she has soul and I for one will always support a Monica project.
