The performances, to me, were kind of a mixed bag….
I mean, though it’s understandable why Beyonce would perform ‘Irreplaceable’ (it’s the song she was nominated most for), she performed the very same track at the 2006 American Music Awards; the country twist was a nice touch, though.
IMO Chris Brown took it to the next level tonight – in terms of stage spectacle. However the fact that he was lypsynching was painfully obvious. It’s 2007, lipping to the CD version of a track isn’t cutting it -he should have used pre-recorded vocals (See: Janet Jackson).
Call me a hater or whatever, but Rihanna’s voice was extra nasal tonight and the lack of depth in her vocal ability really showed through. Ne-Yo, on the other hand, was great.
In what was the first televised performance of Mary J. Blige’s new single ‘Just Fine’, I felt she did just that. Though kinda off at the start, she picked it up from the middle onwards and did her thing.
Performance of the night IMO goes to Alicia Keys. Vocally, she was as-ever, on-point. Moreover she switched things up with the remix and the surprise blasts from the past i.e. Chaka Demus and Pliers. Great stuff.

I loved the bluegrass take on beyonce’s irreplaceable as well as the accoustic version by Daughtry just with guitars and violins. IMO best performances of the night.

I didn’t really care for the country version of Irreplaceable. Beyonce could have performed something else.
Chris Browns dancing was good but thats it.
I love Rihanna so cant say anything bad about her. I like the fact that she wasn’t performing in black or white like she would normally.
Mary was great. I love her energy, makes you feel what she is singing.
Didn’t watch Alicia b/c i don’t like her music.
Poor Nicole…she needs to stop forreal. The whole things was a mess. I wasn’t there and i would have been laughing at her like they did Britney Spears. Then at the end she ATTEMPTED to hit the high note. She gets a “F” and a suspension from music industry right now.
And Lastly Fergie….she reminded me of Mariah singing and standing in one spot moving her legs with the short skimpy skirt. I didn’t really like it.

did anyone notice that beyonce was pointing to the right when singing “to the left to the left” that was hilarious .. but i really enjoyed this performance .. one of the best ones for this song

Beyonce had the best performance of the night! Did you see her curves? That bitch know she bad she definitely looked the best last night. I’m so glad she won that award too. Biggest award of the night and only five other people have won it. She’s the first female to get one. Congrats Bey!!!

Lol everyone was beautiful…some other fashion choices could have been made (Nicole S., Rihanna) and some performances could have been better (Chris: singing, Rihanna, Beyonce, Fergie) but overall it seemed like an ok show.

I pretty much agree with your take on the performances.
Alicia hands down best overall she sing, dance, played her piano, brought out some reggae stars! Can’t wait for her to go on tour cause her CD is that fiyah!
I wasn’t sure if they were serious at first with the country irreplaceable it was ok.
Chris Brown needs to work on singing and dancing…at the same time. He will never be taken seriously without both.
Just realized Rhianna was not singing live the whole time. Seems she had track playing for certain parts of each song. I’m not blind. When did it become ok to lip synch all the time.
Queen did her thing.

honestly it’s hard to pick who the best of the night was.. but i gotta give it to my girl alicia keys then mary tieing it with her. then comes beyonce, she was on point as usual but the other two were better IMO.. i didn’t care for everyone else really…

Yo this dude is a HATER i cant stand him. its just good for videos this site. whenever i read his writing my blood boils. proppa jars me. always hating and speculating like he’s on level with these artists. some legends he doesnt even have the right to critique imo and he talks down about them as if he could ever accomplish what they have.

Beyonce didn’t deserve that award. And what is everyone talking about that she looked good?! That jacket was nasty and her jeans were so tight that it made her legs and ass look ugly and huge! I am so sick of her it’s unreal, if I see something else about her on this website this year, I am never coming back, she is a killjoy.

Beyonce looked so gorgeous at the AMA’s. I would kill for her curves. Her hips are ridiculous. Definitely see why they say she’s the hottest in the game. Her stage outfit was hot too. The jacket, the jeans, and especially the shoes were all hot and showed off her curves. She had everything on point. She was definitely the Queen of the Night. LOL
