Like myself, some of you must have been wondering where signer/songwriter Johnta Austin has been. When interviewing him a few months back (click here to read the interview), everything seemed to be in place for the Grammy award-winning talent’s emergence as an artist. For whatever reason, the project came to, somewhat, of a halt. Now, however, things seem to be on the up for Johnta and his album ‘Ocean Drive’ is tentatively scheduled for an early 2008 release. The long-awaited set is to be preceded by new single, ‘The One That Got Away’. Produced by Stargate, the song has been floating around for a couple of months now and has a steady buzz building. What’s more, a video for the track has been booked and will be directed by Ray Kay. For those yet to have heard the single, check it out below.
Hit or Miss?

Besides co writing some big hits over the years for many different artists. I feel I get nothing from Johnta but one big boring. I do wish him well though.

I think this time he will make with this song. I can feel it coming for him lol. He could be the like J.holiday Be With me was a great song but didn’t get everyone into him until bed came out look where he at right now. But for Johnta people expect him to get a hit just because he wrote amazing songs for other people sometimes it doesn’t work out like that. I think if this single doesn’t jump off for him I think he knows his self to stay behind the scenes or keep on trying he so over looked at as a artist he has lots of talents plus he is fine. But I guess he going to be underrated. Just because Neyo and Dream made it doesn’t mean every one else is. Even through Johnta Austin was a singer first and got taken his deal away from Tyrese that should give him a hint that he should stay behind the scenes or do something else.
