New Song: Akon – ‘Wanna Be Starting Something’

Published: Tuesday 20th Nov 2007 by Sam
As reported, Michael Jackson will be releasing a revamped version of his career defining album Thriller in celebration of the album’s 25th anniversary. Four of Thriller’s original tracks are receiving the remix treatment by Kanye West, Will.i.am and Akon for the re-release. The songs are ‘Billie Jean’, ‘The Girl Is Mine’, ‘Pretty Young Thing’ and ‘Wanna Be Starting Something’. The later was covered by Akon.
Where do I begin? Absolutely dreadful. I nearly spat out my drink when I heard him attempt some of them notes (LMAO at “Billie Jean is always talkin’….”). I’ve got love for Michael, but this mess just is not cutting it. I thought it was a (bad) joke. I’m sure even T-Pain would have come up with something better than this. Here’s hoping Kanye and co deliver the goods. SMH.

Hit or Miss?

    MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISS!

Is this really a remix? Isn’t it a cover song since it’s a totally different person ‘singing’ it?

There was no need to get today’s artists to cover the songs just to attract the younger people. Who doesn’t who Michael Jackson is by now? I don’t know if I’ll be getting this disk now. I am not Akon’s biggest fan. I do love the music though, but unfortunately his voice is over it.

If it ain’t broke, PLEASE DON’T ‘fix’ it.

Not a winner at all, this is some kind of bad joke wake me when it is over. Michael deserves better justice than this.

Potential HIT. Love the track. And Akon had the right idea but I think Michael would sound better singing it. I actually think this is a demo for Michael that someone leaked. Akon sent this to Michael so that Michael can record it. We aren’t going to hear akon’s version of Wanna Be Startin’. . . on Michael Jackson’s album. But definitley with Michael’s voice this could be really nice.

yea i agree this is probably just a demo, cause how would kanye redo one of the songs, is he gonna rap all the lyrics. but i enjoyed the song. IT WAS A HIT FOR ME> It made me download the original too.

come on. that beginning is just classic

The song is a classic my Michael Jackson.

The only person who should be singing it is Michael Jackson. Nobody else could do it justice.

Akon could well be way out of his depth here. He’s not working with a 50, or Justin or somebody else, he’s working with the King, so you gotta step your game up

MJs original version is far better than this version (of course), but then this is only the demo version. The final cut was previewed by Sony to select guests last week and is different to this version and includes some MJ vocals.

Akon IS on the final version though.

P.S After i wrote my previous comment I read some others had said, and it sounds as though some people haven’t heard Michael Jackson’s original.

Michael Jackson wrote it and recorded it in the early 80s. It is on his ‘Thriller’ album – the biggest selling album in the world….ever! His version is far better than this Akon version.

Also, Rhianna samples MJs version on one of the songs from her new album.
mamma se mamma sa mamma hu sa, mamma se mamma sa mamma hu sa.
