New Song: Solange – ‘I Decided’ (Snippet)

Published: Saturday 15th Mar 2008 by Sam
Solange - 'I Decided' ‘I Decided’ has been confirmed as the first single to be lifted from Solange Knowles forthcoming sophomore album ‘Soul Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams’ (due this summer). Produced by The Neptunes, the track is a soulful/jazzy number that should sit well with the adult contemporary audience.
One has to wonder, though, if the idea of Solange going down the (Neo)soul route was because it’s what she wanted or to avoid the the inevitable comparisons to her elder sister Beyonce. Whatever the reason, I’m hoping Solange achieves some level of success with this project. The material I’ve heard thus far has been very promising.

Hit or Miss?

I love the other 2 songs best but this has a good vibe. I just dont see it as a single. I love the champagne chronic song

Solange needs to hang it up and continue to write songs for other artist because that snippet was horrible. I guess she trying to rehash music from the 60’s I say just leave to Amy Winehouse.

I’m feeling Solange this time around. I like this song, the idea, the pace but i feel she needs to re-do her vocals as they sound a little forced. She may do well his time around as this along with the other songs heard is a fresh approaching sound to music.

I’m so sorry Solange, but this is a definite MISS! There’s no way I’d buy this in a billion years. Some people are so talented (like Beyonce) that they can sing any genre of music, Solange isn’t one of those people. She’s talented, but NOT THAT TALENTED to pull of a song like that. I really need to hear the entire song to give it my rating. Wow, what a mess that was….smh That’s like Ciara tring to sing He Loves Me by Jill or Rehab by Amy….she’s just not that talented.

I love it! I dont know why people are hating on it so much! I bet if it was Jill Scott or Winehouse singing it u all would be singing a different tune. I think if people start to detach her from her sister they might learn to appreciate the originality of her music!

I’ve heard the entire song, not just the snippet, and I must say that I am panting for more. This song is a hit, and if she sticks with this concept, she will strike platinum. Fa real, Fa real
