UK singing sensation Leona Lewis performed her chart-topping single ‘Bleeding Love’ on American Idol last night. Check out the performance below:
She nailed it! With the undeniably huge audience that American Idol commands, this was, perhaps, Leona’s biggest showing in the US to date, so it was great to see her do us proud. After this, it wouldn’t surprise me if the song ascends to the top of the Hot 100 again. Great performance.

Leon who… what a stupid comment from both blogger and Philly! The only reason Leona has done s well is due to Simon forcing her down everyones throat, how would we know if Shane Ward wouldn’t have done as well if he was introduced to the American public endorsed by Simon (not saying that i’m a Shane Ward fan) Simon needs to give all of his contestants a fair chance. Anyway, X factor is a joke! Leona is the only real talent they’ve let through but only due to marketability and a combination of looks (if you like light skin and blonde long hair) and talents, i’ve seen many talented people in auditions that they haven’t let through.
There’s a difference, Leona has talent. Shayne Ward, Leon Jackson and Ray Quinn were s***. I’m from Manchester but even I can’t back Shayne Ward, how can you compare him to Leona?
She’s doing us proud over there I’m actually already amped for her next record, remember we’ve had Leona’s album over here for months and I’ve worn her two US tracks out already!
This performance was great! She nailed every note. This is so reminiscent of the late 80’s and 90’s when Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey would actually get on stage and SING (LIVE)! Not saying that they can’t do that now, but I just don’t get that kind of one on one performance 8 years into the new millenium! LOL! Everything is done with all of this mechanic choreography and lip syncing! I am glad someone is going back to the “mic stand” method! I am now more interested in her than I was before. Just may go purchase the album!
I’ve always like d her performances but this one gave me chills. It was superb!
And you’re right. Shayne who? Ray who? You can hate Simon all you want but the truth is the US wouldn’t have taken to the other winners and Leona is the only winner so far who has the potential to be an international star.
I read a couple of comments where Mariah said she wasn’t bothered. I think she will be after this.

Great performance but how much longer are they run this song to the ground. Honestly this is the best song on the album but nothing more needs to be said ole girl can sing but there is more to make a star in this now fast paced industry and many great talents are not finding the means of success that they had found in the past. So who’s to say she will be around in a few years? Let’s wait and see and stop tearing down the Mimi’s and Whitney’s because they made history are still breaking records.
She did good, I ain’t even go lie. But yall don’t have to compare her to Mariah or Whitney. Because this is a BIG DIFFERENCE Between them and Leona. YES, Leona nailed every note and sounded IDENTICAL to her studio version.
But when Mariah and Whitney sung live in their early careers, those two women not only sounded identical to their studio version, but they actually sounded BETTER!!!!!!! They are the only two that changed their notes and made it sound new at EVERY live performance, especially Mariah!! Leona is lacking originality in her performances (though still good), she’s just not deviating away from that studio record like Mariah would do. Now once Leona starts hitting extra high notes and doing more runs that’s not in the stuio version, only then can she be considered a superb Live performer!! But I’m sure she’ll achieve that. She just need to watch and learn from Mariah a little more, lol!!

See the deal is that Simon should be aiming for worldwide stars all the time, i actually remember Simon saying that Shane was international and a U.K version of Justin Timberlake so he must of had some faith in him back then

This is kind of weird, but I liked Leona more when only the UK knew about her. I’m American, but I knew about her early because I am very up there when it comes to entertainment…I watch the X-Factor. It’s annoying listening to this hype about her in the US. It’s like….Yo, I’ve known about her for ages, I don’t need you to tell me how great she is. It gets really annoying after awhile. I don’t mind conformism, but I like things more when they’re less mainstream.

That’s what I like, when they perform it and they add a lil extra favour rather than singing it straight like the CD. The performance was special… She has finally reached Artist level in my eyes, thats all it took lol.

I’m not trying to hate on Leona…but I can definitely see Simon telling the producers, “I Want FIRE and GLITTER and LIGHTS everywhere and SPARKLES, I want America to know that I CREATED this Masterpiece and I am responsible for Everything Leona IS!!” That’s why I’m not completely sold over her yet, because everytime I hear her, I hear Simon!!! Does Mariah Carey and Tommy Mottola ring a bell???
