New Song: Donnie – ‘Dr. Love’

Donnie - 'Dr. Love' Viewer’s of the most recent season MTV’s ‘Making The Band 4’ will have seen that, unlike Danity Kane and Day26, Donnie did not have his album completed by the show’s finale. However, with his LP now set for a summer release, new material from the set has surfaced – namely the full version of ‘Dr. Love’, a snippet of which was posted a few months back.
As much ‘hit’ potential as the track, which was produced by Seven, may have, I’m still yet to be sold on Donnie. I get a distinct ‘I’m singing what has been dropped in front of me, without giving my own personal stamp’ vibe from his material. Very contrived sounding. Still, I’ll reserve my judgement until I hear more from the record.

Hit or Miss?

I completely agree with Sam on the review.

It’s hard to believe someone is singing a certain song after you’ve seen them working on that particular song in the studio and seeing someone else tell them how to Sing the part. You get a sense of distance from the artists and its hard to relate to their song when you know good and well they DID NOT write it.

That’s why artist like MARIAH CAREY are so amazing, becasue she’ll go into the studio with a song that SHE WROTE and PRODUCED and it’s just SO MUCH MORE belivable, unlike this Donnie effort.

As cheesy as this song is, I actually like it. I’m a big fan of Seven. So, anytime he produces a song it can really do no wrong with me. I really don’t know what Diddy plans to do with Donnie but I think that he has a challenge ahead of him. I don’t really think that it’s the music per say it’s the marketing and how to market him. Like is he going to be like the Robin Thicke type or the Justin Timberlake type? What is going to separate him from the rest of “blue eyed soul” out there? (If that’s what you want to call it.)There is a real challenge to find his fan base and I think that maybe leaking a few songs and getting feedback from those songs.
