Ashanti Covers Page Six
R&B songstress Ashanti appears in the latest issue of Page Six magazine. The 27 year old star speaks on, among other things, her industry competition, Rihanna as well as her wedding plans:On Her Competition:
“I’d hear a song on the radio and wish mine was next. But I respect a lot of the artists who’ve come along since I was out, especially Rihanna. She’s smart and she’s worked the business instead of having the business work her.”
On Her Wedding Plans:
“I’ve been planning my wedding in my head since I was a little girl, and it just keeps getting more elaborate. I’m a huge fan of the Caribbean, so if I don’t get married in New York, it would have to be on the beach.”
I welcome her honesty about her current standing in the industry and that things have changed. That said, I’m not sure I wholesomely agree with the Rihanna bit…

who cares about what Ashanti thinks about Rhianna? thas like the blind leading the blind… Rhianna? please…she got got famous by hiring a great PR firm. She became famous for nothing, like Paris Hilton. IMO she has not made great strides in music, nothing breaking…she is just a nice looking girl wit a nice body and ok voice…Now Jazmine Sullivan thas who needs Rhi Rhi’s spot…

Ashanti AND Rihanna are both great artists! And I respect her!! RIH IS SUPER SMART nad she has lots of charisma that takes her far

You know Rhianna is the girl of the hour just like Ashanti was in her time. However the real test is going to be longevity in this business, then we will see who is really smart

Both can’t sing IMO but at least Ashanti realizes that no one really cares about her musuc cause it’s not selling and it aint getting no raido spins…the same will happen to Rihanna because as much as you hear her songs on the radio you would think that her album sold at least 3mill when in realithy she is at like 1.5 mill with about 6 singles out already

Uh wut station do you listen 2 because Ashanti get mad play down here in Mississippi!! Ashanti is going to be around for a long time despite what people think of her. She is so humble and down to earth, yet she knows the business and have adapted well. Yea every artist experience a slump in their career. Dat’s just how things goes but, Ashanti has what it takes and dats why she is everywhere once again!! Keep doin ya things ma and shake deze hataz like you been doin. Great album
As far as Rihanna goes…. Ashanti could not have said it any betta!!!

^I agree! I’d think that Sam (saying he’s not a fan) wouldn’t post her so much, but it’s his site so he can do what he likes….

Apparently she gave Cassie credit too, so basically she’s jumping on whoever is “relevant” at the moment. Rihanna is the perfect puppet and does what she’s told. If she says no, she’ll get dropped flat on her face and disappear…hopefully.
