‘Skin’ is the latest of the new material to surface from R. Kelly’s forthcoming ‘12 Play: 4th Quarter’ LP. Say what you want about him, but there’s no denying he knows how to churn out those box-fresh hits (albeit less frequently these days) – which is exactly what ‘Skin’ is IMO. The mid-tempo cut is, hands down the best offering I’ve heard thus far from the album. Good stuff.

The whole vibe of this song is very “The-Dream” like. All it needs are some “eh, eh, ehs.” R. Kelly stays transforming his sound (whether or not the results are good).
I’m embarrassed to be feeling this song a little bit.

Child molester or not, R. Kelly is a very gifted and talented writer and will always be. 14th album! While many people are riding on the coat tails of these new artist that will be long gone in the next couple of years. R. Kelly has managed to stay relevant over the years.

I've been listening to Kells for many many years, although both TP3 & Double Up have been average albums, I still love his music more than most. Hair Braider, Players Get Lonely & Skin have been significant steps (IMO) to a successful return. Despite all his legal troubles, I'm sure he will have no trouble shifting 1M+ units.

This is very The Dream-ish and that’s unfortunate. R Kelly does not need all the vocal “enhancements” to sound good on a track. He’s got natural talent. This song is a desperate attempt at a 40+ year old artist trying to stay up and sell to the kids. I don’t think it works.
These veterans need to stop trying to compete with the new acts out now and just continue what made them successful. They have a better chance at selling THEIR style of music to their current fans then jumping on the bandwagon and gaining new young fans.
