Diva Mariah Carey performed a set at the Samsung AT&T ‘Summer Krush’ series in Hollywood, California last night – portion of which was aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Loving U Long Time // Touch My Body
I’m not really a fan of ‘Side Effects’, nor ‘E=MC²’ for that matter, so I’m not surprised the performance did little to move me. The ‘Loving U Long Time / Touch My Body’ medley was better. Overall, an improvement on some of the truly cringe -worthy performances we have been subject to this go round. Decent.

Compared to 20yrs ago, her performances are so dead now. She was basically just standing there. I guess this isn’t a hard song to sing, but still. I didn’t watch the entire video. I skipped through and every time I let it play, she was still just standing there…
put the other video up (obviously the better performance) and stop being so biased against her…. still!

I mean, I’m a fan – but that was really poor. She didn’t even try to bounce or work the stage. I don’t think the track was that demanding vocally so what gives??
I think its time for Ms Carey to hang up her mic now – she’ll start to tarnish her legacy if she keeps on turning out these sub par performances…
She sounded great on We Belong Together, I’ll Be Lovin U Long Time/Touch My Body and I’m That Chick. She sounded good here too. Although she could have done more on the entertaining side, the song is still very strong and her voice was solid. I think this would be a good choice to follow up as the next single or Love Story.
Pussycat Dolls are in KL, Malaysia
It’s only days before the MTV Asia Awards, and the first of the many international acts have already landed in town. Today, the Pussycat Dolls previewed a few tracks from their upcoming album Dolls Domination (set to release on September 15) at their South East Asian press conference.
The lead single off Dolls Domination, ‘When I Grow Up’ (produced by Rodney Jerkins), is already making waves on the charts, making it the Pussycat Dolls’ fourth top ten single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Among the producers they worked with on the album are Cee-Lo, Scott Storch, Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic), Darkchild and of course, Timbaland. Besides the lead single, other tracks include ‘Away’, ‘Barely Breathe’, ‘Bottle Pop’, ‘Fly The World’, ‘If I Were A Man’, ‘In Person’ and ‘Psycho’. Look out for a faux Brit accent on the track ‘Watchamacallit’ (sp?).
At the press conference Nicole, Ashley, Melody, Kimberly and Jessica also discussed Kim Kardashian’s upcoming stint as a guest Pussycat Doll. The girls also revealed that they will embark on a world tour that will bring them back to the SEA region (some time in March/April 09).

Um… she lipped 3/4 of “Side Effects” and when she DID sing, her backup singers would have to sing her “belting parts” with her!
The reason she sounded great on the other performances was because they were pre-recorded and lip synched…. Like always. She even had to concentrate on the whispering on Side Effects which is sad.
I love that song too.
Im very proud of mariah she did a very solid performance and I think that was a big step from what she was doing earlier this year so stop hating on her either way she still sounds better then half if not most female singers out today even on a bad day plus mariah never danced why would you guys think that would change now
plus some of you say the song does really need that much vocals to pull off all I have to say about that is you try to sing that song better then her and tell me how that works out for you cuz point is you can so quit hatin

To all the people who act as though Mariah has ever danced or done anything other than stand around on stage in skintight or little clothes…STOP…I am not a fan but she was never a performer. She is/was a singer. Maybe cause the song doesn’t move y’all or is not a ballad, you’ve all finally noticed that she doesn’t do anything on stage. I love this song. To her defense, the lyrics are depressing and obviously about her marriage, which traumatized her. Not easy to perform. The fact that the song is midtempo and featuring Jeezy, you would never know…keep ya head up MC.
I loved the performance! Mariah’s not a dancer lol, its when she dances that you know she’s lipsyncing, duh. And what else was she supposed to do during Side Effects anyway? A backflip? Lol I’m glad she sang live this time, and she sounded great! Go Mimi!
I’m also disappointed in Mariah’s performances these days. Like many of you here, I also agree that she did a little more to entertain the crowd instead of just standing around.
I, for sure, would not pay to see her live.
Lovin u long time/Touch my body was excellent! I love that they mixed them together so seamlessly at the bridge and the whistle notes at the end are always a nice touch.
She should stop lyp-synching. It’s not like she can’t sing at all. I think she tried and will get better by continuing to perform on shows before her tour. Did anyone else notice that she has gained weight and seemed nervous? I think she had on a gurdle.

Mariah still got it. I think people get so distracted by all the new performers (with their dancing, fancy lights, etc.) that we forget who paved the way for them to get to where they are. A lot of these singers now, CAN’T sing.MC has been singing and belting (high notes and all) for over 20 years. Most of these performers are just that… PERFORMERS (not singers like Mariah).
And… Mariah never danced so why is it such a big deal that she just stands there and wiggles? In my opinion she had more rhythm when she was younger.

Why not? Whitney was on drugs and Bobby, but her voice seems to be coming back. Yes, the vocals being poor are down to her throat nodules but the lifeless performance isn’t.
Side Effects is a great track, and I personally think it should be released as a single. I personally think that E=MC2 has suffered from bad single choices. “Touch My Body” was an OK track, “Bye Bye” was boring, and “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time” is a much better track that should have been released much earlier.
Nonetheless, I’m feeling her performances. Mariah doesn’t need to prove anything to anybody anymore. She’s spent over a decade doing that already, so I think we should be respecting The Voice a little bit more.

i think that the whistles she does at the end of I’ll Be Lovin’U Long Time (when preforming live) are the best. That should have been on the album. Go MC!
Her mic and ear things kept feed-backing and would get even worse and she couldnt hear when she moved to the side of the stage. So thus staying there and possibly what was up with SE.
And whoever said Whitney’s voice is coming back is smoking and snorting all the s*** she was, if not more. And when it comes to damaged voices, Whitney did it to herself. Mariah has nodules and probably over use.
