Omarion Talks Chris Stokes/B2K, Timbaland, New LP & More
R&B star Omarion recently spoke with MTV about a number of issues, including the B2K/Chris Stokes controversy, his departure from Sony and new recording home, Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group. A lengthy, yet interesting read:On the Chris Stokes / B2K Controversy
“Really, my thing is, I talked to the cats (his ex bandmates), and it’s sad what people will do when they’re in the position of ‘don’t have,’ ” the singer said of his onetime group members Raz, Fizz and J-Boog. “People will say, ‘Omarion is still out there and in the pubic. Omarion is still successful.’ But they don’t sit back and think, ‘Why is Omarion able to get this opportunity? Why are they not getting this opportunity?’ Fizz put a single out. They are a product of their karma. I can’t talk in detail about what was done [on their parts], but a lot of wrongdoing was done. A lot of false statements — off-the-wall, disrespectful things. Not even on a dislike level. On a hurtful level.
“I used to rock with them dudes, and now when I see them, it’s not like that,” he added. “It’s gotta be like, I look at you funny or you look at me funny. If somebody has done something to disrespect you as a man, I feel like I have to protect myself. So now when I see them, after everything that happened, how do I be nice? How do I be cool? I’m a spiritual dude, and a part of me is forgiving. But there is so much that has been done, you get tired of that. This whole next album, you’ll see a whole new Omarion.”
On Leaving Sony:
“I asked to be released,” he said of the rumors that Sony dropped him. “A release is different from a drop. When an artist is dropped, usually they haven’t brought any revenue to the company. As you know, I’ve been with that company for a long time, roughly over six years. Throughout B2K and my solo albums, revenue was still brought in. An artist like me could never get dropped. How did I get dropped and I still ended up in a great situation? Usually when you hear ‘drop,’ it means, ‘Oh, he’s over.’ It’s a wrap. It’s unfortunate that stuff like that gets put out there. Everybody likes to associate — especially me being such a cool dude — with negative things. Are you kidding me?”
On Working With Timbaland / New Album:
“We’re just picking each other’s brains to see what can be done differently,” he continued. “My energetic style and aggressiveness when I perform, I don’t think that’s necessarily been captured [for the length of] an album. I always felt like I had joints like ‘Touch,’ even ‘Entourage,’ where it’s upbeat. But it hasn’t been captured in an album. All these crazy new dances, all these different things I wanna do. When I look at my peers in the game, they capture the true essence of who they are. I kinda felt like throughout my career, I had just blots of that.”
‘Hmmm’ at Omarion believing that the Chris Stokes allegations stemmed from jealousy and whatnot. Anyway…
He’s undeniably talented, but he’s yet to present much of substance on a solo tip, in my opinion. Evidently confident in his standing as an artist/performer, it’ll be interesting to see if his latest venture propels him to the heights he, obviously, believes he can/should be achieving.

my thing is wit the whole drama with the guys,one minute raz b was throwing out allegations the next minute him and chris was hanging out having a good ole time,i think that chris didnt want no shit to be put out there so his ass made a deal……when i saw that life after b2k thingy on youtube it was crazy because the other guys was furious at raz b for doing everything together,and he was saying that it was all about putting food on the table so to me something DID go down,omarion either knows about it or doesnt but something went terribly wrong in the b2k days imo
anyway i hope this timberland thing works out for him and everything idk i aint checkin for him too much anymore,he has to give me a reason to like him again…..

I know that there are a couple of Letoya Luckett fans up in the house so after receiving an email regarding why her album is taking so long, upon reading this you’ll understand why.
The singer’s manager Terry Ross recently answered the fans questions on her official fansite LETOYA ONLINE noting that musical politics is behind the delay. The label has been through two presidents in over a year and to make things even more complicated, Capital and Virgin merged together to form Captial Music Group. Letoya’s manager don’t want to rush to put out the release only for it to not receive that well as was the case with those poor Cherish sisters. They want to do things correctly.
As of now, they’re in discussion about picking a lead single for the top of 2009 and they have six lined up. Her manager also states that Letoya is still in the process of recording. Brand new producers that she’s worked with in LA, Miami and NYC include Red One (produced Lady GaGa’s ‘Just Dance’), Fernando Garibay (produced Pussycat Doll’s next single ‘Bottle Pop’), and Dr. Luke (produced Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed a Girl’). I’m also reading that she’s worked with Coldplay.
Confirmed new writers for the project include Taio Cruz, Lady GaGa, Cathy Dennis, Claude Kelly, and The Writing Camp. Terry Ross also states that some of the songs on the forthcoming project will go in a different direction whereas other tracks will be like the ones on her first album like the ‘Torn’’s and so forth. Basically, they want this album to bring her more worldwide success like her peers. I’m not really sure about whether she’ll ever go worldwide. The UK never picked up on her at all when she did minor promotion (she performed ‘Torn’ at the Mobo’s back in 2006).
I really hope we finally hear a new album next year and this whole situation doesn’t escalate into a Mya/Motown and Amerie/Columbia situation. To my knowledge, Capitol doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to their artists.

I'M HONESTLY NOT A FAN OF OMARION BUT I MUST APPLAUED HIM ON HIS HONESTY. I HATE WHEN PEOPLE PLAY THE GAME THAT EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT WHEN ITS NOT. Whatever Omarion. Omarion always try to play like he’s the victim. He’s not telling anyone that he told Chris Stokes the plan him and the other members made to leave the label. No one made any false statements, but life goes on. What eventually goes around comes around.

its sad how omarion is up there actin like he was cool wit everyone, if u read old interviews you can hear how omarion betrayed them…fizz was in his video, omari was in the beds…..but if u see pictures of the boys from the video shoot youll see omari i in the background looking like a loner or hes no where to be seen period….he distanced himself and betrayed them….karma will come back to him eventually.
and you know his tired ass got dropped he & bow needed eachother for a comeback and it didnt work out….omarions recent albums didnt do all that great so he needs to stop actin like hes the shit….cuz hes not

I see that Omarion is still in detail about what happened to HIM & his boys from B2K. I think he's mad at the ex-members because he probably feels that Raz-B allegations' hurt his album sales with Bow Wow & the TUG organization. That album was doomed from the start with the average music & how O was dressing & wearing his hair at the time. His style was turning the girls off.
Maybe Timberland can help Omarion. I don't know. O's haircut is nice; but, it may not be enough.
We shall see.

First of all, Omarion’s voice is very nasal and I don’t think he has the talent to stand alone as a successful solo artist, which is why he has a few hit singles and his albums don’t do well. Second, the album teaming up with Bow Wow was lame. Him declaring himself as the King of Dance, get outta here. Chris Brown and Usher are so far ahead of the game, he doesn’t stand a chance. Now don’t get me wrong, Omarion can dance, but Chris Brown has several different forms of dance from all the coasts. He knows how to freestyle dance as well as choreographed pieces. Omarion didn’t stand by his band members and I believe from day one he was put on a pedestal by Stokes and they both came up with the solo act plan because they’d make more money. He’s right, Karma does come back, which is why he can’t get the formula right. Timbaland’s beats can only do but so much. I bet u after he flops, he’ll be tryin to reach out to B2K talkin about how they were like brothers and they shouldn’t let rumors kill their bond.

omarion is a entertainer, he cant sing and hes a ok dancer. omarion is only saying this because hes so called moving on from the past and focusing on the future. omarion only went gold, look at his stats. he didnt bring in that much revenue to sony. and anybody can and wil get dropped from a label. mariah carey was dropped from virgin, so omarion need to shut the F up. im so sick of him, i wish he be gone, its not like his songs will go down in history as excellent lyrics.
