Sugababes Working On ‘Funky’ Album

Published: Tuesday 5th Aug 2008 by Sam
Sugababes Working On 'Funky' Album The UK’s leading girl group, the Sugababes, are reportedly looking to serve up a ‘funkier’ sound on their forthcoming sixth studio LP. Check out the report via Digital Spy below:

Despite the girls vowing to take things slowly earlier this year, the new disc is now expected to be released in October – just one year after they brought out Change.

Orson’s lead singer Jason Pebworth, who has been working with the group in the studio, has predicted that the new record will be their best yet.

“I’ve just come out of the studio with the girls and they’re like machines – they don’t stop working,” Jason told the Daily Star. “You gotta admire them. The new tunes are taking them in a much funkier direction.

“I think this next album will be their finest moment. You’re always trying to do something special for Sugababes because they’re no ordinary pop band.”

The group are expected to perform some of their new tracks at the Virgin Mobile V Festival later this month.

In an industry oversaturated with non-singers with pretty faces, the ‘Babes – who are all great vocalists IMO – continue to stand as a refreshing breathe of fresh air. Having enjoyed the girls last record ‘Change’, I’ll definitely be paying close attention to their new LP.

Your thoughts?

  3. Anonymous August 5, 2008

No, Sam. I don’t want to hear about these type of artists. I don’t live in the UK so I really don’t give a daamn about UK artists.

  4. Anonymous August 5, 2008

Yes. More Sugababes, and more real artists. I love reading about Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and through this site I came to like Solange, and I would also like to see keeping getting to know Sugababes and other great British and European artists,

This is a UK blog, so it should cover acts which the UK is interested in. We’re more interested in Sugababes and Taio Cruz, than we are in American One Hit Wonders like Cassie or Omarion.

Yes, more sugababes! and more pop in general! Branch out a bit, Sam..I think it will do the site some good.

  7. Anonymous August 5, 2008

Oh and more of the lesser known artists like Gabrielle!

  8. Anonymous August 5, 2008

sorry the site may be made in the UK but it has a very strong US spin and if that changes..watch this site sink faster than Khia’s new album.

^Who said anything about changing the site into some sort of UK only thing?? lol We’re just talking about mixing it up a bit, that’s all..:/

YES!!! More sugababes Brit/Euro artists please!!! kinda unfair for people to diss – I dont recall ever seeing danity kane etc (admit do like their tunes) in the uk or european charts. Out of interest did J Jacksons’ discipline even make top 40 here?… don’t fink so? This blog helps US artists, whether it b in a big or small way, gain momentum 4their name to become known in the UK. Should b the same vice versa. We have plenty artists over here who have an urban edge top their music.

more uk artists please…lisa maffia, gemma fox, alesha dixon and all them..

I don’t know much about the group, but I’ve being seeing posts about them FOR YEARS on Monica Mania, Toya’s World, and other blogs I go to. I think I listened to one song of theirs and I noted how at least they aren’t WHISPERING like a lot of the flop U.S. groups. Someone needs to just do a mega post on them one day with the best vids and songs from them. Vocals are very important to me (one reason why I barely buy like 1 cd a year) and if they are great vocalists (or decent) you people who know about them should highlight that!!

In general,I find a lot of European music more interesting than your typical american dribble. An more specifically, the Sugababes are a big ball of talent. I’d completely support any “branching” out you did Sam, whether it be pop music or non-US music.

  21. Anonymous August 6, 2008

Sugababes best songs IMO (4those who dont know)… NEVER GONNA DANCE AGAIN, RED DRESS, ABOUT YOU NOW, HOLE IN THE HEAD, SHAPE, STRONGER, BUSTER, FREAK LIKE ME, VIRGIN S***, DENIAL, ROUND ROUND, EASY, PUSH THE BUTTON.

That’s some great news! I just hope that they won’t jump on the Duffy, Adele, Amy bandwagon because I’m getting tired of that sound
