Good luck to Janet. I wish her the best. She’s still amazing. She just needs to get her act straightened out. She hasn’t always made the right choices. I do hope things will turn around for her. She’s gorgeous and talented.

Promotion counts for, dare I say, half of an album’s success. Discipline’s promotion was very poor. The older, but not die-hard, fans weren’t aware of her new album, and the young kids weren’t introduced to her music via radio or much of MTV, so albums sales tanked. I didn’t think the album was her comeback in terms of quality, but it still deserved to go platinum.

All you people who think u can put out a record on any no name label and it will sell don’t know anything about business. You have to put money into marketing, advertising and promotions. If u half ass it, you get half ass results. Janet got half assed promotion. I live in DC and there are tons of spots where you see posters of whose cd is coming out in the next couple of weeks. I didn’t see one Janet Discipline poster, but a few weeks later Mariah’s were put up. There was no reason for IDJ not to support Janet knowing they would have a harder time with her than Mariah, but they decided otherwise and got less than stellar results which is to be expected with the little effort they put forth.
