It appears Def Jam have pulled a switch-a-roo and opted to release ‘Rehab’ as Rihanna’s next single, as opposed to the previously confirmed ‘Breakin’ Dishes’. The video for the single, which must be the 7th or 8th release from Ms. Fenty’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ LP (can you say ‘overkill’, especially when she’s looking to drop another album in 09), features Justin Timberlake, who wrote the cut.Though lacking in the singing and performing area (basically what she is supposed to be known for), there’s no denying she looks great here. Shame her talents don’t stretch too far beyond that.

I’m not mad at Rihanna or Beyonce. I’m a person about numbers though. Rihanna has STRUGGLED to sell 2 million copies of Good Girl Gone Bad although she’s had 3 #1 singles on the album and just recently had a #1 single with T.I. Beyonce only had ONE #1 hit and has still managed to push 3 million copies of B’Day. Now those are only US numbers. Internationally, Rihanna had edged out Beyonce but Beyonce stopped promoting her album over a year ago and Rihanna has been promoting hers for nearly two years now. Now let’s look at a breakdown of the singles.
Beyonce
1) Crazy in Love (Gold)- #1 for 8 weeks
2) Baby Boy (Platinum)- #1 for 9 weeks
3) Check on It (4x Platinum)- #1 for 5 weeks (longest running #1 for 2006)
4) Irreplaceable (3x Platinum)- #1 for 10 weeks (Top single of 2007)
Total weeks at #1- 32 weeks.
Rihanna
1) SOS (platinum)- #1 for 2 weeks
2) Umbrella (2x platinum)- #1 for 7 weeks
3) Take A Bow (Platinum)- #1 for 2 weeks
4) Disturbia (Gold)- #1 for 2 weeks
5) Live Your Life- #1 for 1 week
Total weeks at #1- 14 weeks
Rihanna is good, but she still has a lot to do to catch up with Beyonce. She can’t handle a tour by herself. Her movements are stiff and her vocals contain NO emotion. She’s well styled (you know she doesn’t pick out ANY of her clothes right?) and keeps the hair fresh. All that is well and good, but she STILL has a lot of growing to do in my opinion. Beyonce is wonderful, but, she has her flaws as well. I like her new singles, but I still think she has some growing to do as well. Both of these ladies are still young and have plenty of time to continue to blow us away. I don’t see a problem with supporting them BOTH. However, I will continue to purchase Beyonce albums and continue to download Rihanna’s singles.
I gree with the a/m comment…except liking Rihanna..I dont like that girl but regardless its true Beyonce has better vocals and has sold much more albums.Also remember Beyonce has been struggling to make it in the Biz since she was 13…while Riahnna was so lucky that they found her while a record producer was vacationing…B had to work hard to get where shes at. Im saying this cus im from S. Houston and my friends went to school with Beyonce and Kelly since elementary and she knows both very well.
