Official: Barack Obama Wins US Presidency

Published: Tuesday 4th Nov 2008 by Sam
Official: Barack Obama Wins US Presidency After a long and hard fought battle, Barack Obama has officially won the US presidencial election:

(CNN) — CNN projects that Barack Obama will be the nation’s 44th president.
Obama will address the country from a rally in Chicago, Illinois, later Tuesday night.

As news broke, supporters cried and cheered, “Yes, we can.”

Obama will become the first African-American to win the presidency.

The Illinois senator is projected to pick up a big win in Virginia, a state that hasn’t voted for a Democratic president since 1964.

Obama also is projected to beat Sen. John McCain in Ohio, a battleground state that was considered a must-win for the Republican candidate. {Source}

Woooooooooo! I’m beyond ecstatic right now. Yes, you’ve likely not seen much election coverage on That Grape Juice (it simply isn’t our lane), however Obama’s win no doubt means a lot to black people and moreso the world at large. Sky really is the limit!

    History has been made again tonight. A monumentous occasion that some did not live to see and those who did are still in shock and awe. I personally will continue to pray for Barack Obama and his family. Evil is still present and they dislike this more than we know….simply because he is a black man. Pray for the safety of him and his family.

    Wish his grandmother had lived to see this day. But, she is resting in peace knowing what a wonderful grandson she has. God bless America and God bless the First Family.

    Thank You GOD. THANK YOU…Now he needs us more than ever…more than ever…for us to pray for his safety and guidance….I know the pressure on him will be astronomical, but GOD does not put more on us than we can bare…I had to stop reading the “perezhilton” blog…some the racist comments are so hurtful, but who cares….who cares…i am soooooo full right now…I am just in awe…I feel like I really do have hope and positivity for the first time in my adult life….

    Yay! Great Job Barack! 😀 So glad he won!!

    I just hope people will get over the fact that he’s black/mixed. They shuold look at him as a president and what he’s going to bring to the country rather than simply his colour or background.

    Bush ruined the country, let’s hope Obama can fix it and improve it! 😀

    US President Barak Obama also needs to read the pulse of other peoples who wish him to be in the chair of world leader. He will work like a human being not like a Bush

    uhm that’s not a jay z quote

  22. Anonymous November 5, 2008

    Anon 12:16 —

    Barack Obama is Black. He identifies as a Black man and everyone knows that historicaly in the U.S. one drop of Black blood identifies you outwardly as being black. Especially if you have an ethnic “tendency”.. He is bi-racial, but actually most Americans are Bi-racial, tri-racial, and any other kind of racial. None of us are pure anything.

  23. Anonymous November 5, 2008

    ^^to the person above me thanks cause i knew that wasn’t a jay’z quote smh

    Regardless of how Barack identifies himself and regardless of the “one drop rule” that was created by the “white man”, Obama is a true representation of a Biracial man. Indeed, he embodies African American ancestry, but he also does the same for the Caucasian descent, EQUALLY. There’s no picking or choosing here, no matter what twisted notions were imposed upon us. I’m proud of Barack and I am aware that history has been made. I hope to see great changes made here in America, as well as across the entire world. Peace and Much Love.

    Lift every voice and sing, till earth and Heaven ring,
    Ring with the harmonies of liberty;
    Let our rejoicing rise, high as the listening skies,
    Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
    Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
    Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
    Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
    Let us march on till victory is won.

    Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod,
    Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
    Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet,
    Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
    We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
    We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered;
    Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last
    Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

    God of our weary years, God of our silent tears,
    Thou Who hast brought us thus far on the way;
    Thou Who hast by Thy might, led us into the light,
    Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
    Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee.
    Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee.
    Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand,
    True to our God, true to our native land.

    Go McCain. Ignorant people voted for Obama just because of the race card. Don’t get me wrong, it is awesome that we have some diversity in our presidency, but if we also had intellegent people…hm. the outcome could have been very different.

  34. Anonymous November 5, 2008

    ^ We do have Intelligent people voting thats why we had this outcome. Go Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. mrsjones3 November 5, 2008

    ^^^^you are a hater and an idiot. there is always one bad apple in the crowd isn’t there.majority rules, and it won. we voted for him because we are tired of the struggle, and the division of the people of the united states. this shows you can accomplish anything no matter race, s**, or creed. just shut up and bask in the ambiance because barack obama is hear to stay. go cry to your mom about wanting mccain to win because she is the only one who cares

  36. Anonymous November 5, 2008

    ^^ lol @ the exit polls (and common sense) showing that Most of McCains supporters were older white people and people who didn’t finish high school…

    some dummies and more than likely some bigots. WOW.
