The sixth week of X Factor 2008 live shows aired tonight here in the UK. Check out my 2 Pence on the Best of Britsh themed week below: {For those unfamiliar with the show; The X Factor is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 25’s are eligible to enter. The show also birthed the career of a certain Leona Lewis}
After being rocked by the departure of favourite Laura White last week, X Factor regained some credibility last night after the absolutely crap Daniel Evans was sent home. What’s more, Alexandra (as ever) and Rachel both turned in fantastic standout performances, which you can check out below, along with that of X Factor alumni Leona Lewis who performed ‘Run’ on the show:
Alexandra Burke – You Are So Beautiful
Rachel Hylton – I’m No Good
Leona Lewis – Run
Alexandra really is on a roll – week in, week out delivering stellar performances. I’m just hoping that the British public continue to vote for her, because, as Laura’s exit showed, nothing is guaranteed (aside from the mediocre Eoghan and slightly contrived Diana being raved about each week!).
Rachel definitely proved her worth last night too. Glad she’s still about.
I can’t say Leona’s song or performance really moved me. That said, her featuring on the ‘Best of British’ week definitely was apt – one of the best talents – if not ‘the’ best talents – to emerge from Britain in a long time!

Leona was hot the band was a little too loud but has great technique & texture when singin.. GOTTA BIG HER UP!!!
ALEXANDRA is the most consistant and best there. Her voice was so hot this week on that song…
She's derseves to win so far.
Diana too fragile but still unique and distinctive regardless so i hope she gets her mojo back.
Rachel can sing and got real power but i find whats lacking now is the commitment to the song she's singing. Singing with no emotional depth to it. She still sounds good but that all she needs to add to make her outstanding!!!

1piece of baggage left but having said that Eoghan(Owen) has always but his best foot 4ward so i won't knock him 2much and he's very young

i like diana and all that
but i think the show is too emphasized upon her
she’s goodm unique, distinct and all that
but i don’t think she would be able to cut it in the music business
i would say two singles, album n she would fade

rachel, i don’t particulary like her or want her to win.
but she did sing good, she can really belt out amy winehouse songs, but thats it really, she can’t really sing anything else that much.
the winner needs to be versatile as the judges always say, alexandra to me, is the most versatile one, slow harmonies, upbeat disco, anything

and thats why im pinning my hopes on alexandra to win the competition.
leona lewis, wowww, she really is a superstar. bets thing to come out of britain in a while. best xfactor winner, and thats why we need alexndra to win, to carry on the trend of big superstars bein created by the xfactor. leona was amazin and her performance of snow patrol’s “run” was amazingly great.

BLAH boo to leona. she is so manufactured. contributed nothing new and original since ‘bleeding love’ which is already over a year old… and now she blurts out a snow patrol cover – please? she has no stage presence/personality. certainly NOT the x factor, just a good singer. and people compare her to Mariah – why!!!???

I really wish I could vote for Alex! She is one of the best voices I have heard in the competition. She deserves to win it all. Rachel is okay. she did good this week.
Leona is like watching paint dry to me. The record label must have bought all if most of her records cause they really don’t play her like that in the states. She needs to come strong and make some dance records and move across the stage cause we really don’t know what’s with her. We already have mrs carey so she needs to come different.
I agree with previous posters. I find Leona so boring. While she does have a good voice, I almost fell asleep during her performance.
