Eurovision 2009 Hopeful Jade Performs ‘Deja Vu’

{For those not in the know as what Eurovision is, it is essentially a televised competition which sees acts from European countries competing on one stage for their country to be crowned overall winner. While in some European countries the show is taken very serious, over here it is kinda looked at kinda tongue in cheek}
It appears the BBC are trying to inject some much needed credibility back into the UK’s entry for the Eurovision song contest, after dismal results in past years. The Beeb are running an X-Factor styled show to choose this year’s UK entry called ‘Your Country Needs You’. A contestant who stood out from last night’s first episode was East Londoner, Jade. Check out her performance of Beyonce’s ‘Deja Vu’ below:

By no means perfect, but still pretty good all the same. She has a very good stage presence and, despite some shaky parts, held her own singing and dancing.

Kinda off-topic, but the UK is in much need of commercial urban artists with the total package, hence me feeling that I’d much prefer acts like Jade receive contracts instead.

What do you think the performance?

  • She used to be in a group with Cherri V who were signed to Sony – I forget the name of it..
    Beautiful girl.
    She is still signed I believe…Toby Gad was talking about working with her recently…She’s obviously just using this as leverage for her solo career in the future…smart move.

  • I was there at the recording of this at the BBC studios. Its penned to be a knock out x factor style programme but I think she is a plant and will deff win it regardless cos she was drafted in at the last minute. cough cough

  • Nice performance.
    It could use more energy. Nevertheless, I like that she makes “Deja Vu” her own.

  • Wow! She was okay, a bit more copy cat then original, she has a good voice but nothing wow but i guess people will be falling over backwards for another light skin chick. I’m still checking for my girls Estellle, waiting for what Alexandra has to offer and looking forward to Monica and La Toya’s forthcoming projects… Oh, and Toni Braxton

  • I think you’ll find the group she was in was called Trinity Stone, Cherri V was another singer in the group.

  • Funny that there should be a Beyonce comparison when she’s singing a Beyonce song

  • I actually liked her version of the song and she SO owned it!!! She does have the look and hopefully will make it far!

  • It was an okay performance . . . it needed more energy . . .

  • She is the BEST there in the COMP!!!!!!! She deserves to win!!!!!

  • She did such a good job, not as much energy as Beyonce, but she wasnt TRYING to be Beyonce, she made it her own. I love the fact that she chose Deja Vu though. LOVED IT!
