Check out singer/songwriter The Dream taking to KissFM radio about his work on Mariah Carey’s brand new album (tentatively ‘MC3’), as well as his own sophomore LP ‘Love vs Money’.
Though new music from heavyweights such as Mimi are always welcome, I can’t help but think she should sit down for a little while and re-focus. I’m pretty sure it will do her a world of good after the so-so’ness of ‘E=MC2’.

The name of the album project, according to her website, is MC3 not ‘EC3.’
I think it would be profitable if she drops an album this year because E=MC2 dropped off the charts since Summer last year and she hasn’t had a single on the HOT 100 since August. She has to get it while she can.
Returning to her roots is a great idea because some of the biggest acts out right now, such as Leona and Alexandra, are imitating her earlier material and finding great success.
I wonder if she is doing a song along the same stream of Endless Love, then that means she is going to do a duet. The question is, who is she doing it with? The last time she did a duet, not counting her featured role on The-Dream’s My Love, was with 98 Degrees and Joe in 2000.
Also, songs like My All, Touch My Body and Endless Love would be perfect for her new raspy tones and fuller lower register. She should approach them the same way she approached My Love; keeping the vocals raw and not trying to be super clean, throwing in her signature upper registers and letting it all go. She held back far too much on E=MC2 and belting out ballads like she did on The Emancipation would remind the public of her talent.
Mariah can still deliver a live performance. However, she needs to avoid singing song that involve swift tempos and rapid lyrical phrasing; she no longer has the stamina for that.

I love the fact that Mariah’s voice is much more SOULFUL…as far as the raspy voice goes, her new music will fit perfectly for soulful ballads!!
And if you don’t think Mariah can sing like OLD MARIAH…then watch her performance at the American Music Awards 2008…IF THIS WASN’T OLD MARIAH’S VOICE, THEN I DON’T KNOW WHO’S IT WAS!!!
Mariah has the best music obviously (she is the top selling solo artist in history), so a recreation of her old hits would be GENIUS!!! And I know she is capable of delivering.
Just remember, people said Mariah sucked when she made the Charmbraclet CD…But THE EMANCIPAITON OF MIMI was the GENIUS that followed!!!

& as for her new album im pretty happy to get some new music from her, My love is deffiently a great sing & i really like the way she sounds on it. E=MC2 was a great album, she didnt promote it as well as she should have but it still sold 5million world wide. thanx for nothing & for the record are really great tracks. im all for the new album – lets go mariahhh ! she is also getting much praise for her role in lee daniels new film PUSH. its won top prizes at Sundance. shee has a big year ahead of her.
The reason why Mariah can’t sing now is because she stopped singing when she recorded We Belong Together. I don’t want anymore emancipations because when Mimi was freed from whatever she was bound by, her voice escaped. Mariah Carey has the most incredible voice in the world, but she hasn’t been using it for the last 4 or 5 years. I can’t wait until she starts making real music again. It is ashame that all of the truely talented singers (Mariah Carey, Usher and R. Kelly) are putting out the trash that they are releasing. I guess if you sell enough records then you don’t have to sing anymore.
it would be cool if she got akon on the next album and get t-pain back on the next album, since they didn’t release “Migrate”
Mariah has vocal nodes, but she is hesitant to get them removed because the surgery is very risky. Even if she can still sing, her voice could sound drastically different than it does even now.. Her whistle register could be completely gone. Personally, I think she should record a bunch of material and have the surgery. If something goes wrong, she can release back material, not perform, and just retire..
If the surgery goes right then she will be able to control her voice better and sound more like her old self.
I hope she drops the album just before Xmas, that’ll be perfect timing, and I loved E=MC2 more than the Mimi thing so I’m waiting for my girl, and boy ! The Dream knows how to do good music, right now I’m feeling him and Ryan Leslie as the future of RNB

c) what would the world be without MARIAH?! Im so scared to even think that one day mariah will pass and we wont get new material! I’d die!!!
d) SONY should release a double cd of all the UNRELEASED material for the Die Hard Fans! Mariah probably has over one hundred of unreleased material!
Honestly, I do NOT think she should remove the nodules…and I’m sure Mariah feels the same way. Her voice is too much of a masterpiece to be tampered with, and she would lose the most spectacular part of her voice…HER 5 OCTAVE RANGE!!!
So if performing every now and then with a little raspy voice is going to be the worse of my worries, then I’d take it rather than losing the thing that made my career (and everyone knows Mariah’s whistle register is what made her career so amazing).
And I’m so happy for my girl going into the studio this week. I really thought she was about to focus on having a family and dedicating her life to Nick Cannon, but she did the complete opposite and dedicated her life to her FANS…becasue she know we’ve been there WAYYYY before Mr. Cannon and we will be here FOREVER!!!
And studio Mariah sounds identical to OLD MARIAH, LOL!!! So I’m sure this STUDIO ALBUM is going to bring back the VOICE!!!
I read all the comments above me and I’m really happy that Mariah has so many fans that truely love her and her music.
No matter what she does, no matter of her voice condition, we take it for what it is, cuz we’re all blessed to live our lives while listening to her songs for years and still we want more and more…
