Superstar Beyonce took to the stage at last night’s 81st Annual Academy Awards to perform a rousing medley called ‘Musicals Are Back’ alongside Hugh Jackman, Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, and High School Music stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.
The Baz Lurhmann produced performance was awesome (even though mimed – it’s understandable)! Beyonce really shone and it was great seeing her give renditions of songs we’ve yet to hear her put a spin on such as ‘Lady Mamalade’.

Because the difference is that beyonce sings live in about 90% of her performances and mimes the rest, whereas mariah carey does it the other way round!
Amazing performance regardless! She really shone and had good chemistry with Hugh Jackman!

Beyonce’s performance was CRAZY…i loved it…and eve if she lipsynced, who the hell cares? Over 90% of the time, she sings live, so this doesn’t matter, cuz i’m sure if she did, the people who organized the production instructed her to…anyway, she was great, she and hugh jackman make a great pair.

OK, Mariah does it only on the chorus cuz she sings over it! When the original song is recorded in two voices overlapping each other then there’s no way it could be sung by just one. The other has to be recorded and played back…

So what if she lipsynced it was stil her voice. just like it was still Whiteny’s voice at the superbowl, and J-Hud’s voice at the superbowl. Hell more singers should lipsynce that way we wont no how bad they realy sound i.e (ciara,keyshiacole,rihanna,ashanti,kerrihilson) and the list goes on.

Beyonce was definitely one of the highlights in that performance. Yall are hatin’. And even if she did lip-synch, she still had to sing it at one point. I agree with Sam, that it was great hearing her spin on great classic songs. She’d be great in Broadway. She’s so talented, go Bey!!

What about Queen Latifah and John Legend? They did great as well. Where are their performances?? Beyonce was ok but to be honest I was more impressed with Hugh, he was the highlight of the show, he was a great host and had lots of energy and he nailed the dance numbers. Go Wolverine!!!!!!

seriously, sam, i’m tired of every single thing this woman does being called BRILLIANT, AMAZING, SUPERSTAR, etc. i understand that you’re a fan of certain artists more than others and this is your blog and whatnot but it is very annoying.
and people in the comments need to cool it with the mariah carey comments. when was she brought up whatsoever? in this industry, it seems like when you like one female artist, you have this insecurity to have to put every single one down. why can’t you defend beyonce (which i don’t care if you do) without bringing other female artists name into it? instead of being so goddamn negative about everybody else in order to raise beyonce up (which is a very poor tactic and only makes YOU look worse), just be like “hey, y’know what, i thought she had a good performance, its the oscars so i’m sure they wanted things to run smoothly, the end” and don’t be so immature.

People don’t hate bey as much as they tire of seeing her as if there’s no other singer or actress on the planet. It’s unfortunate that she doesn’t feel comfortable enough with her career or the industry she works in to give her public a visual break. Not a conclusion, but a break. It’s working and for those who love it, that’s great, but I get tire of people saying people are hating and jealousy of her. There are plenty of haters, but it’s more about over-exposure. She’s a marketer, not an artist who possess great singing ability and one of the most beautiful women in entertainment history…maybe this is one of the reasons she can’t stop the over-exposure thing.
