Eve Readies ‘Flirt’

Published: Wednesday 4th Feb 2009 by Sam
After a series of delays, which saw Eve’s last album ‘Here I Am’ eventually shelved, the rapper has confirmed the album has been re-branded, is now titled ‘Flirt’ and will be in stores later this year:

In an interview with the New York Post’s PopWatch blog, the West Philly MC blamed her disc’s repeated setbacks on her “whole music label situation” with Interscope, but said it should finally surface this spring or summer.

Initially set to hit stores in 2007 under the title Here I Am, the rapper/actress said the LP has undergone many changes. “It won’t be called ‘Here I Am’ anymore,’ she said. “Now it’s called ‘Flirt.’” In addition Eve says the music will be a lot more positive then her original effort. “I had to get in there and put in some upbeat music that I wasn’t depressed about,” she said of the new tracks. “It’s fun, it’s sexy, it’s totally me. Imagine if ‘Tambourine’ had kids — that’s what the CD sounds like.”

Despite the constant rescheduling and the new musical direction of the album, the former Ruff Ryder is confident that she won’t disappoint. “I am truly, truly sitting on some amazing music.” {Source}

I’m definitely looking forward to this one as Eve has been very consistent in recent years, both on a collabo tip and on her own merit. However, female rap doesn’t seem to be all the rage and hasn’t been for a while. Do you think Eve could still make an impact with this new LP?

Your thoughts?

    teh difference between Eve, and other female rappers is that Eve is dope as heck. and her music is totally different from the rest of them. The other female rappers were or are always trying so hard to prove they’re hard, and this and that, that they got lost in the fact that its about the music and there love for it. To me that the difference with Eve. So Yes I will be looking for it and will purchase it with cash 😉

    I love eve.. I think she can still make waves. She had some deep/hard records on her first album most definitely.. “Love Is Blind” (the song and vid) is forever burned in my mind. She has stuff to talk about when she wants to, but it’s all about having fun right now. With the economy bad and all kinda stuff happening, people just don’t wanna hear deep or sad records. That was the problem with Brandy’s latest magnificent album. 🙁

    I think Eve could definitely drop a pretty good album. She’s not Foxy or Kim– the main reason people keep checkin’ for Eve is because of how she puts the emphasis on her lyrics and skills and doesn’t degrade herself in order to sell a few extra records. The majority of hip hop fans are men and men respect her flow + they don’t want to hear about nasty s***. “Tambourine” was fire so I expect the new album to be just as hot if not hotter.

    Eve can sing too.. I hope we get to hear more of that. There was rumored to be a song entirely of her singing on the album (before it got shelved)..

    I think Eve as well as Missy should seize the opportunity to bring female rap back to a respectable level, if they chose the right singles and marketed them consistently. It would be breath of fresh air to have a female have a lot success in hip hop again, because its been years since it has happen.

    @1:32-Are you serious with Trina as your top 3? She cannot rap, has a horrible flow, and she has ghostwriters maily responsible for those wack raps. She’s in the same lane as Khia and Jackie O in terms of “talent”. I’d pick Shawna, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Jean Grae, Da Brat, and Lil Mama any day over her.
