Jazmine Sullivan Performs ‘Lions, Tigers & Bears’ On GMA

Published: Tuesday 3rd Feb 2009 by Sam

Grammy Award nominee Jazmine Sullivan stopped by Good Morning America this week to perform her current single ‘Lions, Tigers & Bears’. Mic issues aside, great performance. Ms. Sullivan is really destined for big things.

What do you think of the performance?

As always she did a great job. I can’t understand why Rihanna’s no singing behind is performing at the Grammy’s and Jazmine isn’t. I hope she wins at least one grammy because her album is awesome.

although i do like jaz, i find it hilarious that she is nominated for 5 grammy awards. thats just insane. she didnt have a hit single at all. but you have (not comparing the two AT ALL) katy perry that had a HUGE number one single (i think it was number one for 7-8? weeks), and also Hot n Cold, and now her new joint.

the grammys have always sucked. and they’re always 5 years behind. but thats what happens when you have 50 year old white men picking the nominations.

I like Jazmine but I have to say this performance made it seem like she had laryngitis because she was straining so much. Unfortunately her diction outside of the studio (i.e. live performances) is deplorable. Singers, please learn to have better diction!!!

love it Jazmine will win at least one of those awards. she deserves it. That girl has come a long way and I am proud of her. Go Jaz. I hope she gets to sing at the grammy’s i’m tired of the same artist performing every year.

    Firstly, she’s awesome.

Secondly, not having a hit record should not exclude you from being nominated. I mean, Alicia Keys didn’t have one before her triumph at the Grammys and hopefully like in Alicia’s case more people will become aware of her talents off the back of her nominations/wins.

Lastly, not all the judges are ‘old white men’ they have to be experts in their field…their colour or age doesn’ change that.

One more thing, about the Grammys being 5 yrs behing – there is an eligibility period/window which means only recent works are nominated.

Grammy’s are not judged on hit singles along.
More on quality of music, lyrics and albums rather than quanity…
Thats whats really good about the Grammy’s.

I don’t know if its me but in the last few performances Jaz has sounded a little raw and tired vocally imo, which makes her husky sound come out more gritty. Prob due 2the demand of her at the moment but other than that she’s REAL quality and has great potential.

jazmin sullivan is in a catorgory all by herself!!! she’s phenominal!!! as far as the comparison 2 alicia keys, their styles are totally different!!! jazmin has a VOICE!!! it’s a good thing alicia can play the piano cuz that’s all she has goin for her!!! i’ve never really cared for her!!! her music sounds contrived with empty calories!!! ha ha ha!!! go jazmin!!!!

She's not had a hit single? Um, how about two top 5 singles on the R&B charts, stupid ass?

I just love hearing Jazmine, and that is my favorite song off of the album. Hopefully she will take home at least one Grammy this Sunday, she’s against some heavy competition.

Ive been in love with her since last week and I don’t anyone talkin s*** about her… So what if Katy had a huge hit last year? A huge hit doesn’t necessarily mean the song was great… That’s why we don’t see Katy on song or record of the year [but i think she deserve at least one nomination though]… As for Jaz not perfomning at the Grammys… wtf is up with that? Since they so confident about her they should be pushing her and making ppl see why she actually got nomintaed in the first. I actually can’t believe she beat Leona with nominations… I hope she takes em all and makes them haters shut up lol… Go Jazmine… BTW, I don’t see her album anywhere here and I live in a huge city… weird
