Mariah Carey announced via her official Twitter that the first single from her hotly anticipated new LP ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’ is titled ‘Obsessed’, also revealing that the track will debut on radio next week Tuesday (June 16th)!
Of what to expect from the song, Mimi describes it as a ‘fun, uptempo song for the summer’, adding that it’s one of her ‘favourite tracks ever’. According to Carey, her team were going to ‘go with ballad’ first, but chose this instead, assuring fans that her trademark ballads are coming. {Source}
As much as I want to be amped by the prospect of new Mariah material, these days I’ve found it to be too risque (see: ‘E=MC2′). That said, it seems she’s going for the same approach as the last two albums – drop the ‘fun, party’ record first (‘It’s Like That’ / ‘Touch My Body’) followed by the ballad (‘We Belong Together’ / ‘Bye Bye’). I guess time will tell if she delivers. Roll on next Tuesday!
