New Song: Chris Brown – ‘I Can Transform Ya (ft. Lil’ Wayne)

Controversial R&B star Chris Brown is looking to re-claim his place in the industry, making a comeback with ‘I Can Transform Ya’ – the lead single from his 3rd studio album ‘Graffiti’ (due November). The swagger-heavy track, which was produced by Swizz Beats, is a gritty club banger, which sees the singer ride over a busy, rock-tinged beat, along with Lil’ Wayne, who for once doesn’t sound like he was flung on there ‘for the sake of it’. Definitely feeling this one, particularly as Chris and/or his team smartly opted to stay away from any of the drama with the billy goat (and no, I am in no way condoning his actions). I can’t think of anything more contrived than a ‘I’m sorry’/public sympathy-designed track to launch his comeback. Anyway, without going off-topic, it’ll be interesting to see how well this does…

You know the song is ok. Now i know why I really don’t like Lil Wayne voice, he and Rihanna are made to match. They both sounds so much alike terrible

I don’t like what he did to Rihanna and I will always be team RiRi, but this song is hot! I wish Chris didn’t do what he did to RiRi because his music is fiya (im sorry but its true). And doesn’t this song seem like the male version of Beyonce’s upgrade u? Anyways I like the record regardless. CHRIS GET BACK ON TRACK SO I CAN BECOME A FAN AGAIN, PLEASE!

Def. mus be a grower, because I didn’t pick up on the hype from a first listen.

I feel like her should have taken more time off before trying to forget the whole situation, i think if he dropped a single in February 2010, that would have been a good time to come back for him… Hmmmm, I don’t know.

Me personally, I’m not the biggest CB or Rihanna fan, but I’ve been yearning for new Rihanna music, way more than Cb music. Though she may not have ‘the voice’ she does have good albums, all the way back since 2006’s ‘A Girl Like Me.’ [Didn’t hear ‘Music Of The Sun’]

WELL I AM EXCITED ABOUT CHRIS’S RETURN MUCH MORE THEN RIHANNA, CHRIS HAS REAL TALENT, SHE DOESN’T
SHE HAVE TO KEEP KISSING MAINSTREAM TO STAY RELEVANT

SHE HAS TO TRY AND HOLD HER SUCCESS, WHICH WILL BE HARDER, CHRIS HAS HIS FANS WHO WILL SUPPORT HIM EVEN MORE NOW AND I LIKE HOW IT’S DIFFERENT AND HE DIDN’T RETURN WITH THE TYPICAL STUFF, PEOPLE MIGHT OF EXPECTED.

NO SLOW BALLAD SORRY SONG, I’VE CHANGED BLAH BLAH BUT A HEAVY BEAT, THINK THE VIDEO WILL MAKE THE SONG EVEN BETTER, IT WILL BE A GROWER FOR SOME BECAUSE IT’S SO DIFFERENT FROM WHAT CHRIS USUALLY DOES BUT THAT’S WHAT MAKES IT EVEN MORE EXCITING.

Not really feeling it. Hope he can get something better next time… by halfway trough the song i was bored. He can do better.

And we all know you don’t like rihanna sam. Why oh why do you have to ALWAYS use offensive names when you’re reffering to her? We got it. It just makes you look small minded. Can’t you bear her existence?

He may want to try “transform”ing himself from a man who brutally beats a woman first. Wack apology songs,half-ass redemption videos and purposeless interviews aside,I don’t feel like Chris Brown has shown any real redemptive behavior and the fact that he’s releasing an album in November! I realize that may be more his labels choice than his but they should even know that is just too soon. I’m sorry but I’m just not ready to see this dudes ever inflating ego so soon after the after-math of what was a horrible and shocking event. I just hope this time around he will approach things with a little more humility because if he comes with the same pompous attitude he’s had in the past that will indicate that he has not truly changed;and that would be even more tragic than Rihanna’s beating.

I feel personally too old to buy any of his music, but I don’t think his next album will be a total flop. This particular song didn’t jump at me, but I think a lot of his previous album sales came from his music videos anyway.

It’s a good song. I think the more i listen to it I will love it. The beat is tight. As far as what he did, I think everybody deserves a second chance. I could see if he is constantly going around beating women, which i don’t condone, but if he has changed I think he deserves a second chance. It’s people out there that have done much worse and get second and third chances, everyone needs to remember that.

  16. smh September 30, 2009

ok since Rihanna’s name was brought in it….. they both have been featured on songs since the incedent. i see Rihanna on the billboard charts with run this town but i dont see Chris anywhere with drop it low. so whos the winner? And why is he tryna release music before her? its not gonna work hes already talking about releasing another song. hes delusional

  17. Claire September 30, 2009

^^^^ To the post above Esher Dean is a new artist not many people have heard of her and it’s in the billboard chart climbing, go and check again, everyone knows who Jay Z and Kanye are, so of course their fans will buy the song regardless who it features, Run This Town is s***, it only did well because who it features, not because the actual song is good, when it’s not.

And yes Chris can release a song whenever he wants, why should he take a year or two out to please the people who don’t like him and the hardcore Rihanna fans who act like he hit them, his fans want music, his giving his fans music, what’s the problem with that??

Get over the Rihanna s*** and please move on, in the words of Rihanna, Chris Brown Please don’t stop the music!!

  18. Andrew September 30, 2009

I’m excited to see less haters of Chris Brown!
The song is defiantly a grower, but it’s a hot song.
Chris Brown is doing his thing, don’t hate

  19. wtf October 1, 2009

haters always talk the same s***..song is hot period..sam, u are die hard mj does this song not remind you of “give in to me” on dangerous..listen to it and think about it..chris aint going nowhere and its been 7 months..he said sorry and if you dnt buy it, that your problem not his..he does not have to do s*** to convince you..us fans want music from him and were are ready..he is going into a new direction and def making a name from himself as a artist unlike rihanna who is just a singer..anybody can do that and she isnt even great at doing it…
