Video: Kanye Apologises on Leno / ‘Run This Town’ Performance With Jay-Z & Rihanna

Published: Tuesday 15th Sep 2009 by Sam

Following the media storm that ensued following Kanye West’s behaviour at this past Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, the rapper took to the Jay Leno show last night to apologise and express his regret regarding the situation.
I’m all for second chances, and ultimately do believe Kanye’s career isn’t as damaged as some are hyping it to be (I actually think this will blow over pretty quickly), however he needs to genuinely recognise that as much as he may believe his own hype, the ‘media’ are very much the ones in the driving seat and can throw him off his pedestal at any time. One need not look any further than the stars that have come and gone before him.
Tidbit: Did anyone else recognise the tone of the interview changed dramatically at the mention of Kanye’s mother?
Anyway, check out Kanye joining Jay-Z and Rihanna for a performance of ‘Run This Town’ later on the show:
Ok, I guess. To think Rihanna’s live vocals aren’t offensive to some is beyond me. Sigh…

Your thoughts?

SAm you have a problem with singers from barbados singing anything but island music as every performance that Rihanna does seems to be a mess to you. I think you just cant get over her accent in yhe songs cause there is no denying that RiRi delivered with the vocals, she doesnt always hit it right (live performances of Disturbia for example) but she does more times than you like to give credit.
Where are your number 1 hits?

I was running late, so I heard of Kayne's actions via Facebook and friends. I'm glad I have Tivo and had the chance to see what everyone was talking about. In the moment, Kayne did a horrible thing. He was speaking his mind and being honest (coming from me a huge Beyonce fan). However, it was disrespectful and nothing can justify that. But genuinely I believe Kayne's apology. I don't know him personally, but I do not perceive him as a phony person. So his apology is more than just trying to save his career. I truly believe him. I lost my mother and afterwards I had an acting out spell. This was beyond my character and I hurt a lot of people. Maybe it took this moment to make Kanye wake up and act right.

He really seems sincerely sorry, and like Brandy said when an apology comes from the heart like that you HAVE to forgive

Rihanna's live vocals have truly improved. Actually she is starting to develope stage presence. I'm proud of her. Oh and Sam how your blatant HATING (not even dislike you are simply a hater) on Rihanna is not offensive is beyond me. IMO you shld NEVER be mad when folk don't like YOUR fav artist caz u HATE on Rihanna like you do. Its one thing to notn be a fan but when she does a good job u STILL gotta make sly comments it's sad. You are almost as bad as Kanye IMO.

Y'all better stop picking with Sam, Rihanna had backtracking with this song and that was pityful. She only had so many words to say and she needed help! It has nothing to do with her being an Island girl but everything about just not having talent..With them veins coming out of her neck, now that was horrible and it comes from not being able to sing.. Kanye, I believed this one..

Lol Reading some of the posts on here i have to laugh as people take their fan loyalty a bit too far, At the end of the day if you call yourself a singer, your expected to sing good? (i lie?) and sorry but Rihanna clearly cant, its not that i dont like her but it doesnt take a genius to work that out- HATER is a very strong word and some of you need to remember that just like you having your opinion (and using abusive terms)so will sam and everyone else- simple.

Yea her voice may be better but she still lacks stage presence in my opinion.
