New Song: The Saturdays – ‘Wordshaker’

the saturdays

With the UK’s top girl group spot looking rather vacant at the moment (see: Sugababes, Girls Aloud), fierce five-piece The Saturdays are making a beeline for the coveted position with their sophomore project ‘Wordshaker’. The group, who have racked up an impressive 6 top 10 singles in little under over a year, are looking to further cement their status with this their latest LP (which hits stores next Monday).

Having had a listen through our review copy of the album (which is actually pretty solid), it’s the title track of the record, which dare I say stands as one of the best cuts they’ve recorded to date. As with the best of their material, ‘Wordshaker’, manages to blend multiple genres (Rock, Urban etc) into the melting pot that is Pop, rather effortlessly, with a tasty end result. Loving this one; think a Rihanna-type track with actual good vocals (I know, amazing!)  Take a listen below:

Hit or Miss?

I think I will become a Saturdays fan since Amelle and Heidi decided to kick out Keisha

It’d be nice to have a woman group again. All great singers, especially the Asian girl. When their album didn’t set the charts alight straight away, they were honest about that. Instead of giving up they kept pushing and people paid attention in the end. We need more hard workers like them.

Forget to say, really like this song. Their debut was hit and miss for me, but if the rest of the album is like this song then I’ll be getting it.

Sounds work from their debut album but much better imo. Not feeling the 1st single off the new album much 🙁

Glad they dropped that crazy key change from the snippet version of this song.

You know being American we have a problem keeping girlgroups together LOL … Although I’ve heard a lot about the Saturdays I never got into them until recently. I LIKE. I was a Sugababes fan but now there just THESWEETNLOWGIRLS so I guess Im on to the next group who actually act like they want to be together
