In a recent interview with Boombox, R&B singer Omarion offers his 2 cents on the brewing controversy surrounding the ‘dark side’ of the music industry, as well as Rihanna’s alleged involvement. Some of you will recall Tiffany Evans’ recent comments about Rihanna and apparent ‘devil worship’, comments which kinda blew the lid off the whole situation – a situation which has been the subject of much debate on a covert level for some time now. Check out what the former B2K star had to say:
“I don’t personally know Rihanna’s beliefs but I think there’s a very dark and very sinister part of the entertainment business and I think it’s very visible,” he said. “This is something that a lot of people don’t look at [but for example] Michael Jackson used to be a Jehovah’s Witness and I remember hearing that he wanted to separate from the religion — and this was during the time that he was doing ‘Thriller’ [which ended up being] his biggest album.”
“Fast forward to now,” Omarion continued, “[and] it really made me think that there is a [time as an artist] where there’s going to be a choice. The[entertainment] world [dictates] that you have to be with three or four women, or do this in order to get that [and] I think it’s really interesting. With God and the industry, it’s really dark. The dark side is having to get in, there’s a certain submission you need to have. Just like a gang [initiation], so to speak. You might have to do something against your moral code. I’m not saying that it’s always this way, but when you’re someone that is young and you’re coming up in the industry and you really don’t have a grip on your morals it can be very dark. The game is just about over saturation.
“I don’t know if Rihanna [has fallen victim to those pressures]. I’ve never really heard her speak about it,” he said. “I hope that she doesn’t believe in that stuff and I don’t think that she does, but I don’t know. It’s not just been a Rihanna thing, [there’s has been religious speculation] about a lot of artists.”
Hmmm. I’ve kinda kept my mouth quiet about all this Illumnati malarky for a while now, but feel there’s there no time better than the present to address it head on, following Omarion’s comments (which I felt, though thought provoking, had holes all over the place).
Coming from a strong pentecostal Christian background myself, the notion of the existence ‘evil’ and ‘evil spirits’ are something which has been drummed into me from an early age, hence I’ve always had an awareness of negative entities. More broadly speaking, though, even on a non-religious tip, to believe in any type of ‘good’, one must believe in the existence of ‘evil’. That said, I really can’t see what all the noise is about here.
Yes, some artists’ conduct are questionable. And, yes, folks are in their rights to actively question certain things they observe (Ms. Fenty’s uber ‘dark’ image is becoming a little worrying). However, to start lumping almost every major artist and their mother as being part of some ‘evil’ cult is just ridiculous. So ridiculous, that I can’t but laugh. It’s funny, as the folk that are making the most noise are the same ones who don’t actively practice religion or aren’t religious at all. All these rumours seem to be bringing out the ‘inner preacher’ in many a gossiper (rolls eyes), who will have you believing the ‘devil’ himself is a man who lives on Hollywood Blvd, a man who all of the industry’s top stars visit and ‘sell their souls’ to in exchange for success. I call BS.
The limited glimpse I’ve had into the ‘showbiz’ world through the opportunities I’ve had via this site, really drives home the age-old adage that ‘not all that glitters is gold’. I can’t help but think that those saying these stars have ‘sold out to Satan’ are of the opinion that what they see in the music videos and on TV are real (i.e. luxury life, fame, money, cars aka hedonistic pleasures). It really isn’t, trust me. The reality of these stars are usually markedly different to what the Hollywood machine would have you believe is real. It is this same Hollywood machine that pumps money into artists and brands until they they reach the dizzy levels of success that seems to be triggering these accusations. It’s as if the level of stardom some artists enjoy isn’t digestible for some, hence to explain it, there has to be some kind of ‘supernatural’ element to it. Surely, it’s not that hard to swallow the fact that the media, a very powerful entity, creates (super)stars, as well as the fact that many of today’s stars do indeed work very hard on their craft, as well as their business savviness – to ensure their continued success and staying power.
While I’m not entirely downing some of the messages these religious DVD’s etc are propagating (although this CD burning thing needs to stop. You know damn well you paid good money for them!), I urge folk to not get caught up in the sensationalism of it all. If anything, if you didn’t pay attention to or question certain peculiarities before, now’s the time to switch your radar on – not just when it comes to the music industry either. That said, singling out the most successful ones and putting their success down to some kind of ‘evil exchange’ is rather senseless IMO.

I agree, its a bit confusing, the interesting thing is about 5 years ago I heard a preacher at my mums church talking about the entertainment industry and that it would bring change and God would work through the media and certain “stars” so hmm interesting.
Personally I question how Rhianna still has a “singing” career as her vocals are just truly shocking but she has good people making good beats and catchy tunes.
That’s interesting to hear coming from Omarion. All this talk about Rihanna and these satanic undertones in the industry sparked an interest and led me to this website. There’s some pretty interesting stuff, some compelling, and some pretty far fetched. One I found to be very interesting was the about Omarion’s Icebox music video (http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=738). That and many other stories and dissections are on that site. While I don’t doubt the presence of these things in the industry, I think it’s a matter of artist being unaware and not having complete artistic control over their projects. They probably don’t realize the symbolism and messages that they could be portraying. Idk… just my opinion.
This makes me think of artists who acknowledge their strong faith in God, yet go around shaking their half naked asses in front of a video camera, or exploit women by having them shaking their asses in music videos. It’s all pretty hypocritical.
When it comes to Rihanna, I really am worried for that child. I’ve said this before on here, ever since the beating, she’s become a different person. And all this dark scary stuff that’s going on with her image, I don’t know. I hope it’s just that – an image, and nothing more. :-/

I, too, increasingly notice this trend of associating some artists’ big success to the selling of their souls to the devil. Especially if some gossipers have the preconceive notion that these artists have bad characters & bad behaviors that should definitely lead to bad Karma; hence, they’re left to justify these artists’ flourishing success. You see, bad Karma for these artists should mean disgrace, diminish success, and personal loss. God forbid if these unfortunate things occur, it automatically support their belief that they deserve this bad Karma for past transgression. Some proudly state they PRAY & WISH for their disgrace and losses. If these artists continue prospering, it negates the assumption they’re bad people because their increasing success may highlight their good Karma. No, no this can’t be LMAO; therefore, it has to be the devil’s play.
While I’m not a fan of Rih’s current performance style, I dig some of her music, including her latest offering. “Russian Roullette” seems to speak to some her characteristics and experiences like the risk taker, her fear, her stubborness lol, and the idea that you have a hold on someone because they still around. I’m curious to see what else she has under her sleeves. I wish her nothing but positivity. I refuse to dish negative energy on anyone.
i dnt think omarion was talking about GOD or religion per say in his interview..he was merely talking about the dark side of the industry where people are willing to do anything for fame and money..miss fenty is not talented at all..we all know she got made..when u get made and have no control over your life you have to do certain things that are against your morals to keep up..i think that is what he was refering to..any fool can notice that rihanna has changed from the music of the sun days..she has now part of the industry that will do anything for fame and money.. when such things happen you will have crossed over to the dark side of it coz lets be honest jesus does not really feature that much there anyways…i think that was his point and not to say rihanna is a devil worshipper or part of that group..she could be but who knows!!!

I’m with Omarion…..I try to let artist speak for themselves or atleast let their actions speak for them as it relates to their religious/moral/and God minded selves. Actions do speak louder than words.
I am a Christian and I believe the Bible. The Bible clearly demonstrates Lucifer aka Satan as a once-angelic being who decided to attempt to exalt himself above God. While in Heaven he was charged w/being over the music during worship. in fact, his body is literally an orchestra….He can wave one wing and you’d get a symphony (so to speak)! he is also described as being a kind of dual-nature being….adrogenous so to speak….He was a male angel, but had characteristics of a female….. i.e. his body made of jewels.

These so called interviews are set up to take the spotlight of themselves but what “WE” need to do is read their articles carefully and listen to the words they sing. Their video’s do not always represent their song’s !!
MTV VMA’s was a prime example of the extent of this occult behaviour in the music industry. My jaw dropped when I watched Jack Black pray to satan at the VMA’s and I watched in total horror as the audience bowed their heads and closed their eye’s.

I 100% agree with you Sam, people have way too much time on their hands to think up these conspiracy theories and have NEVER worked in the industry. I’ve worked in the music industry for a few years now and have had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest stars in the world at major label and major management company. Trust me! Don’t believe everything you read or see in the papers, these people are just as human as you and me. Yes they have open doors to places not everyone has access too, but lets not fabricate everything.
Has it ever occured to people all this Illumnati stuff could be a PR spin to make people talk? Chinese whispers and all that BS? I’ve seen stories spun in front of me and opened up the papers the next day and read it…that was a big lesson in the industry for me. Do whatever it takes to make your artist sell, any publicity most of the time is good publicity. Don’t be fooled ladies and gentlemen.

I normally don’t comment on blogs and I have been reading this blog for awhile, but I had to say something about this. I find it hilarious how people don’t listen to the people who know the industry. Tiffany knows the industry and so does Omarion. Dave Chappelle said something really interesting on his Inside the Actor’s Studio Special. He told the students to get ready, b/c the industry they wanted to enter (entertainment) was a very dark place. He stated that you have to be strong to get in, but why after all these strong, persistent people get in the industry, they loose themselves and go crazy…that is why he got out of the industry…he said it’s not the people that are messed up because it takes alot to get into the industry, but its the industry that is sick and dark. You hear all these entertainment folks talk and you don’t want to believe them. They are in it! If they say that what’s happening in the industry in devilish then it is! How would anyone else know! Unless you have been in the industry or know someone personally in the industry then why not believe what they are saying. I know there are demonic things in the entertainment industry, I see it! It’s very apparent. Not everyone in the industry is into demonic stuff but a a certain point a choice must be made. If you want to get to a certain level it’s going to cost you. Don’t be fooled. We don’t fight a seen battle, we fight an unseen battle. I have not read every one’s note but I believe it is really not the whole thing of the person selling there soul to the devil but the seed that is planted through that person. I have been reading everyone’s comments and it is becoming increasingly apparent to me that the media’s brainwashing techniques are VERY SUCCESSFUL.
