Amerie’s ‘In Love & War’: Will You be Buying?

Amerie In Love and War

Today marks the US release of Amerie’s 4th studio album ‘In Love & War’.

With it being 3 years since the release of her criminally underrated ‘Because I Love It’ LP, the 29 year old will no doubt be hoping this new body of work will give her the recognition she deserves.

That said, though we are loving the album here at That Grape Juice, her label Def Jam don’t seem to be! One needn’t look further than the  next-to-no promotion for the record, as well as the fact she has yet to perform on any televised show. It’s such a shame, as in an industry in much need of legitimate talent, it can be staring someone like Amerie right in the face, yet shun it in favour of lesser talented acts. I can only hope she gets the recognition she deserves in due course.

We here at That Grape Juice want to know if you’ll be buying ‘In Love & War’? Have you got/heard it already? Hit or Miss?

Your thoughts?

Her album isn’t even on Itunes. Oh well, too bad. I was never a fan of hers. She’s much more talented than Rihanna that’s for sure.

Ameries In Love & War is truly one of the best cd’s I’ve heard all year. It is edgy and true to who Amerie is. From beginning to end I can blast this cd it goes hard. I agree tho that this may not b the album to gain mass appreciation, but I don’t think that’s what she’s lookin for. U see she works wit top notch producers (Jim Jonsin, B-C**) and still generates her own sound not theirs. R&B lovers and Amerie fans should def grab the cd. My fav tracks are ‘The Flowers’, ‘More Than Love’, ‘Swagback’, and ‘Different People’

I like her and her determination to succeed, but her songs always seem bland, like they’re lacking something special. Then she starts straining her voice and her vocals sound the same on almost every song. I like every song on Because I Love It, but this album does nothing for me.

She should NEVER have signed with Def Jam. I was disappointed when I heard the news, and, unfortunately, I turned out to be right- they promote Rihanna and no one else. Once again, Amerie is the forgotten one.

FIrst off, where do Y’ALL live that y’all riding around with the windows down today? It’s cold as all whatnot in the midwest of the US. LOL.

But seriously. You can only blame the label for so much. Yea, they give her the budget to travel and advertise, but she still needs to hustle. Her manager needs to be calling shows and setting up gigs. She needs to be playing at local clubs and giving interviews with anybody that’ll listen. Sometimes you have to spend your own money to make more money. Not to compare, but Beyonce paid for a lot of the promo of B’Day and look how that paid off. Hell, has she even been on Wendy Williams? ANYBODY can get on that show with just a phone call. LOL.

That said, I didn’t even know her album dropped, but I’ll go check it out.

I think shes really good! I like her new song. I saw here on tv the other day and thought thats a hit song. also anyone heard of Pierre? hes a new popstar that sounds pretty neat.. heres his ‘broken’ video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCHOTEvtIcU

Her cd isn’t nearly as good as her first 3. The Buchanans did not do enough on this cd, and where is Chris & Drop? She should have worked with less known producers that would have given her better material or get Rich Harrison back.

I like Amerie but I doubt I’ll be buying the album. Good luck to her, tho.
