According to reports, UK media darling Cheryl Cole has signed a major label US distribution deal with Interscope Records.
The deal will see the X-Factor judge release her debut solo album ’3 Words’, which is currently #1 in the UK, Stateside, with its release preceeded by first US single, the will.i.am produced title track. {Source}
With the bulk of Cheryl’s critically-slammed album being produced by will.i.am, who is conveniently signed to Interscope along with the Black Eyed Peas, I can’t help but wonder if ol’ Will pulled a few strings for the Girls Aloud singer. I say this because I have the hardest of times swallowing the notion of any US label checking for Cheryl Cole like that. Sweetheart or otherwise, she will get chewed up and spat out by the US market…no question about that. If several more talented UK exports have fallen flat on their faces in the US, I cannot see how Cheryl Cole is gonna make an impact (I mean, come on now). That said, stranger things have happened…

If other European artists have failed to make an impact in the US is because of the lack of promotion. Cheryl can do good there, just like Natasha Bedingfiled does, for example. And obviously Will had something to do with it, why do you wonder?

OMG.. why are people buying this crap? Woman cannot sing at all and that first single? I love Andre Merritt for his song-writing talents and all but that is def not his best work.
People need to wake up and smell the bullshit, Cheryl Cole? Come On Son!

The single, 3 Words will ultimately flop. She cannot stand against Lady GaGa, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Ke$ha (who’s coming up slowly), Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Owl City, Jay Sean, Black Eyed Peas and the list goes on.
Hope her the best of luck here but I doubt it.. heavily. Her album just ISN’T there. There are some possible singles but electro-pop is what’s in and her album isn’t that.

Love Girls Aloud, but Cheryl on her own is going to have a rough go stateside. Can’t see her connecting here considering the songs all sound pretty dated already.

FLOP! I was excited to hear her song “Fight For This Love” after I saw how incredibly well it was doing in the UK. To my surprise the song was complete and utter garbage. FFFFFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPP.
I’m hoping UK artists Pixxe Lott and Taio Cruz get a US deal though. Their albums are fantastic

WILL.I.AM SHUD WORRY MORE ABOUT HIS SWAGGER JACKING MUSIC THAN BRINGING REALITY TV NON-SINGING CHICAS TO “A LAND FAR FAR AWAY WHERE NON-TALENT BRITS HAVEN’T GONE B4.”

I think that Cheryl definitely has a good shot in the US. Her current single ‘Fight for this Love’, although not being used for the lead single, I think would be very appealing towards the American market. The title track ’3 words’ is also very different in what is around today in America and with Will.I.am featuring I think will definitely push Cheryl into the spotlight in the U.S!

I want to know how much she really has sold sales wise because everyone know music not selling the same amount they used to.
how can she and Alexander have number one single & album in such a short amount of time, not forgetting the first time she released ‘fight for this love’ it didn’t sell so they pushed the release date for after her x factor mimed performance.
The moment she has to sing live & mimes it will all be over, because I haven’t seen her perform her single live once, the other performances were mimed and pre-recorded & they still were out of tune.
I don’t know what kind of contract she has sign that she getting this much hype & promotion.
She has a strong accent if the sugarbabes video had to be subtitled, are the US audient even gonna understand her with that jordy accent.

I bet you that Simon Cowell will hook her up with an American Idol performance.
She has backing from WIll.I.Am and Simon Cowell. Two huge music moguls!

And with a name like Cheryl Cole? Oh gosh, she seems like a sweety but she will NOT even be remembered here in the states. Why do you think Lady Gaga chose her name when coming to the mainstream media? So she sticks out. she could have all the backing from Simon and Will but ultimately she’ll need to stand on her own two feet.
And Natasha is a different story, she’s just loved here.

why can’t you lot stop being so negative about everything…ye she might not be the best singer out there but she is popular for a reason and in any case while healthy discussion is always good, it’s just plain tacky to diss artists like that whether you like them or not..one man’s rubbish is another man’s gold. in any case…support your own british artists whether you like em or not!!
