Chris Brown Bashes The BET Awards

xkobie3-e1260196971352

Last week, we provided you with the cover shot of Chris Brown’s VIBE magazine feature. In the issue, the dynamic performer shared his views about this year’s BET Awards ceremony which honored the late Michael Jackson.  Brown was removed from the production’s line-up after ‘the incident’ involving ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Peep an excerpt from interview below:

Chris Brown on being removed from the BET Awards…

“It was wack. I’ll keep it a hundred. The BET Awards was horrible. I was watching it, holding my face like, ‘Oh my God this is wack’. I didn’t get it. Michael Jackson was such a big entertainer. And I’m not dissing any of the artists who did the songs. But I was expecting a lot more energy for Michael. And BET Awards usually comes hard. I was expecting them to have Usher, Omarion and even Justin. And I was expecting Ne-Yo to dance. They were so bent on not getting me there that they messed up their own show.” {Source}

Most of you may have read Sam’s opinion of the BET Awards, and I must admit that I am inclined to agree. The show was possibly one of the worst productions of the decade; horrible performances, poor editing and a baffling set list. Brown would have been a welcome addition to the line-up especially as no one displayed what Michael was probably best known for: his dancing. That’s a damn shame.

So not only is Sam igororant, but his boyfriend Trent is too.

BET had 2-3 days to competely re-arrange their show. Micheal died unexpectedly. For you and Chris Brown to have the audacity to bash it, is ignorant.

Its not about you ARROGANT CHRIS BROWN…its about Michael Jackson. This b**** is constantly self promoting. It will lead to the end of him.

His Album and Single are Flopping….He’s bashing OPRAH in the media…THE QUEEN of Everything……Its Downhill from now.

  2. lisa December 8, 2009

WOW i mean i agree the show was wack but it was wack cuz of the ideas NOT beacuse they were trying not to have chris on the show CHris shut up dude it wasn’t all about you NEVER has been all about you!!!!!!

  3. Anon December 8, 2009

oh come on. Like chris brown really could have saved the BET awards? Like everyone in America was watching, just thinking “if only chris brown were on the screen, now THAT would be great!!!”

    get over yourself chris.

  4. dob December 8, 2009

The BET Awards were awful. I agree with him on that! He would’ve been a welcome addition. I agree with Sam on that. BUT the idea that BET sabotaged themselves because of purposely trying to keep him out is ridiculous! Get over yourself dude. It sucked because BET is a mess and doesn’t know how to do a proper tribute when only given a couple of days to pull it together. Its not about you!

  5. caroline December 8, 2009

I have seen and read it all now. according to Trent, Rihanna is talentless, but Chris Brown is “dynamic”. where do you get off?? what part of Chris Brown is dynamic??? could you please leave your homosexual fantasies of riding Chris Brown’s d*** OUT of your reportage please?? thanx

  19. Dwaynefighter December 8, 2009

and Chris Brown needs to stop acting and whining like a b****! he goes off on Oprah, blaming her for making him feel embarrassed, he complains that Rolling Stone gave him a bad review as if they owe him anything, now he’s unto BET. shut the f*** up and at least try to make a decent album- expend your energies there.

  20. Trevez December 8, 2009

That show was horrible. I have to agree with Chris Brown. Like Michael, Chris brown, Justin Timberlake, Usher are dancers and would have been better choices to perform. That whole “we only had 3 days” is b*******, but I’m not going to get back into that again. He’s entitled to his opinion.

  21. SparkD December 8, 2009

It was horrible because 2 dancers were in the audience: Ginuwine and Omarion, and they weren’t used.

I would have loved to see Usher, Justin, and Chris Brown.

  22. AWOLLUVA December 8, 2009

I must say, ‘ol Woman Beater is lookin’ kinda juicy in this pic, mmmhmmmm. If only he could keep his f*****’ mouth shut instead of (once again) lookin’ the fool! Ugh, he just gets worse and worse with every interview…

  23. DuMMies December 8, 2009

  24. AWOLLUVA December 8, 2009

^^^ Do you have a source that specifically states Michael as saying he thinks Chris Brown is his successor? Or are you just talking out of your ass, dear? ‘Cause I mean, that’s some b******* right there. If anybody is Michael’s successor, it’s USHER, NOT Chris Brown!

See, his stans will go as far as lying about the n**** just to make him look better than what his pathetic, untalented ass really is. Next…

  25. KodieBlue December 8, 2009

YOUR F****** PEOPLE ARE MONSTERS TRYING TO CHANGE UP WHAT HE SAID! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES AND GO AND CHECK YOUR EYEGLASSES AND RE-READ WHAT HE SAID. A TRUE MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUT WOULD HAVE HAD ARTIST DOING POP MUSIC UP THERE! SUCH AS HE SAID JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, TREY SONGS, NEYO, AND HIM. THEY ARE THE PRINCES OF POP AND R&B TODAY AND MICHAEL LOVED THEM ALL AND ALOT AND WAS APPRECIATIVE OF THE FACT THAT THEY CHOSE TO FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS WITH THERE MUSIC. BUT HE’S STATING NOT JUST HIS OPINION, BUT THE OPINION OF MANY! THAT BET PUT ON A WACK SHOW FOR NOT HAVING REAL TALENT ON BOARD, AND IT HURT THEM! NOW, BECAUSE THEY CHOSE NOT TO HAVE ARTISTS ON THERE SHOW WITH ACTUAL TALENT, DUE TO INCIDENTS OR WHATEVER REASON, THEY SUFFER! MAN PEOPLE CONTINUE TO TAKE EVERYTHIG HE SAYS AND DOES AND TURN IT INTO SOMETHING IT NEVER WAS! I SWEAR THE SAME PEOPLE WHO HATE HIM NOW USE TO BUY HIS ALBUMS, AND DON;T ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY STILL STRUGGLE WITH THERE OWN DEMONS, THE INABILITY TO FORGIVE. THESE PEOPLE ARE LIKE HALF PEOPLE.. THERE NOT WHOLE.. THERE FAKE AS F*** ACTING LIKE THEY’vE NEVER DONE ANYTHING WRONG! ITS ALL GOOD B******! CAUSE YOU’LL BE JUDGED TOO! WHETHER ITS ONE DAY WALKING DOWN THE STREET, AT WORK, GOING OUT WITH A GIRL, AND YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, THAT BLOWS UP IN YOUR FACE, AND IS NEVER FORGIVEN, OR SOMETIME, JUST REMEMBER THAT SOMEONE IS WATCHING YOU AND MAKING SURE THAT YOU DON’T JUDGE.. LIVE AND LET LIVE SO YOU CAN TOO! GET OVER YOUR DEMONS!

  26. KodieBlue December 8, 2009

HE NEVER SAID OPRAH MADE HIM FEEL EMBERRASES!!!! THIS IS THE S*** THAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! HE SAID THAT OPRAH COULD HAVE HELPED INSTEAD OF BEING JUDGEMENTAL AND SATURATION HER MIND WITH THE NEGATIVITY OF THE INCIDENT.. I DON’ TTHINK THERE WAS ANYONE WHO EVER WAS HATED MORE THAN THIS GUY. HE’s RIGHT UP THERE WITH SADDAM HUSSEIN, OSAMA BIN LADIN, AND FIDEL CASTRO IN AMERICA.. F*** YOU PEOPLE HAVE MADE HIM OUT TO BE THE FIDEL CASTRO OF AMERICA! YOU’LL PAY FOR IT THOUGH! ONE WAY OR ANOTHER! YOU KNOW WHAT HE AIN’T EVEN IN THERE LEAGUE IN AMERICA. BEcAUSE AMERICA DON’T hATE THEM AS MUCH AS YOU MOTHER FUcKERS HATE CHRIS BROWN! I AIN’T EVEN GONNA SAY WHAT THIS REMINDS ME OF, CAUSE IT SHOUlDN”T BE SAID!

  27. AWOLLUVA December 8, 2009

Kodieblue, I read what you said and I understand where you’re coming from. But when all is said and done, you have to ask yourself this: who’s FAULT is it why Chris Brown is hated so much?

If he had self-control and kept his hands to himself, we wouldn’t even be talking about this. Trust when I say, I p*** my man off a lot and I can be a real b**** at times; but my man would NEVER do to me what Chris Brown did to Rihanna. Nothing she said or did in that car justified what we saw in the photo of her battered and broken face. That’s why people still hate him, and that’s why they cannot forgive.

Nobody is to blame but him, for he’s the one who put this all on himself. Nobody else (not even her.)

  28. aGREE w/ brown December 8, 2009

I have to agree w/ CB!!!! He has an opinion and truthfully, HE IS RIGHT!!!! the BET awards was GARBAGE!!! I wanted to see him perform! THIS was f****** MJ for god sake! EVERYONE WAS SUPPOSED TO PERFORM THEIR ASSES OFF! ALL THE PERFORMERS WERE BORING AND UNJUSTLY! CB, COULD HAVE DONE HIM JUSTICE! I’M NOT A FAN, I’M JUST IMPARTIAL AND I WANT TO SAY THAT I AGREE!

  29. KodieBlue December 8, 2009

@Awolluva. I don’t try to take your opinion away from you in this statement. but this has gone on long enough and is beyond played out and un called for! Rihanna forgave him eventually, moved on and asked her fans to do the same, but unfortunately for her a very larger majority of her fans don’t have the ability to grow past the incident and get over it the way she has shown the strength to do. So to them, I say why woudln’t you want to learn from the person who you listen to, and are a fan of. if the artist you love can grown past someone, why wouldn’t you want to be a part of that Growth as well? And this is the last part of this statement. Chris Brown is in fact fully rehabilitating emotionally, mentally, and publicly through his music, meetings, and new perspective and outlook on life. In his 106 and park interview he passionately stated that he cannot let the people who both support him down or the ones who no longer support him, And finished by saying the idea that you can have everything on minute and it can be gone the next became very real to him, and he is not about to make a second mistake and give that up. You wouldn’t either!!!! And last but not least. Correction to your statement! Nothing She and the media told you she did in that car justified what he did.. As the world now knows she took a $10,000 champagne bottle over her brothers head cracking his skull causing him to bleed profusely and you and others still have the nerve to say she did nothing in the car that night, and just sat there like little miss innocent. I throw up and puke all over that statement, because I know its generated from the fact that Chris is just too Humble after the situation to even mention the slightest bit that she’s done wrong. Thats why she can get away with saying anything.. But notice she lied about ever hearing the song Changed man in front of over sixty million viewers when asked if she ever heared it before. But Chris cleared that lie up by telling the truth and stating that she heared it a month after the incident because he played it for her and she cried. And she cried because she knows her was telling the truth in it. He was a changed man, and has been getting better ever since the incident! This s*** has got to stop. Haters eat, breathe, and sleep stories like this.. Well hate on this Fuckers! December 8, 2009 at 7:41 pm
People Don’t believe for a second these people are doing there job with these fake ass album reviews!! Stop Being fake and so easily sucked into the garbage thre feeding people. This album is definitely doing so well on the charts right now, and you are doing nothing but spitting in the wind like the other Rihanna stans.. He ralbum went from over 200,000 in album sales to under 78,000 in album sales her second week which is over a 60% drop. And this is with not more promotion than Chris But better promotion. Her interview was much longer, and made him look bad. Her live performances are on x factor, good morning america, the late show with david letterman, and Nokia theatre in London, and are televised worldwide to millions, and she still sells that?? On top of that they give someone who hardly has a singing voice, some ofthe greatest reviews an album could ever ask for, in response to the “incident to help her as if she hasn’t had enough already.. He gets no tv performances, no performances broadcasted to millions of people worldwide, no 1 hour interview about a famous incident and hardly any radio play because he’s been blacklisted, and some of the worst reviews ever written on an above average album, and people buy none of it. You know why, were human beings with the ability to forgive and understand that he is moving on, and has gotten better, and is getting better. You know else why. Because were not manufactured robots without a Heart, Mind, and Soul. These writers fail to realize that we are Intelligent people who Guess what, KNOW BETTER! He’s number 1 in over 8 countries in the R&B charts and is number 2 under susan Boyle on the Main charts of album sold on itunes. So please spare us the f***** B******* AND STOP WITH THIS HATE FROM ALL OF YOU UNFORGIVING ASSHOLES WITH NO LIVES! HATE IS A 24 HOUR Job and however you choose to dish it out, you find a f***** way. But womean lie, men lie, numbers don’t!! I told people they’d be eating there words.. Oh and he’s number two in R&B over at amazon now too! He’s beating lady gaga, and trey songs, Rihanna, and alot of others.. In two days his sold more than most have in fifteen from what I’, gathering..

The First one I posted is in the U.S. I forgot to state that. And the secong one is for the U.K. ANd if you haven;t had the chance, check Chris out on Extended Play with Sway today.. He also confronts Rolling Stone about the Biased Review when 90% of the fans are Giving Love for the album when they post things like that! So he’s giving back to us not just through music but also through an MTV interview in a part of extended play!

I looked at the user ratings of the album against the Rolling stone Review and other bad reviews.. And l don’t know about all the others but I noticed that the majority of the people that read these biased opinions, cause I don’t call them reviews, automatically come in Defense of Chris Brown and Graffit making the writers look so ignorant and Biased! Its clear and apparent to anyone with half a mind that this album is Above average without hesitation, and it doesn’t shame Chris that some of the reviews came in bad because from what I read, and what he says the majority of the time when someone gives him a bad review, he says that he can see about 90% of the people on there disagree with the review. He also said that its clear and evident that its over the situation and not over the quality of the music at all! Go Chris!

  30. Dani December 8, 2009

As hypocritical as it may be, sometimes people just won’t forgive. Case in point, R Kelly. People have been calling him a p******** for years and not buying his music because of that tape even though he was acquitted. CB fans will have to accept he may have this stigma for years even though it was only once.

It’s Chris Brown’s turn, but who wants to listen?
    CHRIS BROWN
At: the House of Blues, Sunday
For the duration of his wildly energetic, hourlong performance, contemplations of the R&B star’s assault on former girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year were suspended. The sold-out crowd showered Brown with affection, happy to lap up the slinky funk and lilting pop soul that have been his professional signature. His name may be forever linked to the assault, but this “Fan Appreciation’’ tour proves Brown’s career isn’t over. Whether his third album, “Graffiti,’’ out today, pushes him to that next level of stardom, which the 20-year-old was poised to achieve, remains to be seen. But as the complete live package he remains a strong entertainer.

As a vocalist Brown has always been good, if not particularly unique. He wisely did most, but not all, of his singing live Sunday night, including several a cappella flights on tracks like “No Air’’ and “Sing Like Me’’ to reinforce the strength of his voice. The ecstatic vocal ad libs – over the accompaniment of a DJ playing tracks and a live drummer – at the end of his frothy “With You’’ found Brown particularly in the moment, singing with closed-eye fervor.

But it’s as a dancer where Brown truly dazzles – and why he gets a pass on the passages where he lip synchs or uses backing tracks. Gliding, popping, locking, twirling, and heaving his body from spot to spot with lines both fluid and impossibly robotic, Brown is a real natural wonder. His dancing, alongside four male dancers, made mediocre tracks like “I Can Transform Ya’’ into electrifying live moments and only amped up the enjoyment of dance-floor catnip like “Run It!’’ It’s as if he can’t put a foot wrong.

Almost. Brown’s sole misstep came when, prior to performing a raunchy ballad, he referenced his former girl-friend by saying, “Y’all ladies know the boy is single, right?’’

Anyone who thought this was in poor taste was likely outnumbered, judging by the gleeful shrieks of the predominantly female crowd.

And Concrete Loop album Review….ALBUM REVIEW: CHRIS BROWN’S GRAFFITI
    Tuesday, December 8, 2009

After almost a year of reports that focused mostly on his personal life (rather than his music), Chris Brown is hoping to put the past behind him by way of his new album “Graffiti.” Although the album provides much of what we’ve grown to love and expect from Brown: a fusion of pop/R&B with a hint of hip-hop, you can’t help but wonder if art is merely imitating life.
    LISTEN UP:
♫ Preview Chris Brown’s full album here
Tapping big name producers like Polow Da Don and Swizz Beatz, on “Graffiti,” Brown reminds us why he’s so good at what he does. Even still, the lead single “I Can Transform Ya,” is nothing to write home about. The futuristic production and typical lyrics courtesy of Lil Wayne’s feature makes the song intriguing but far from certified banger material. On the contrary, “Sing Like Me,” is smooth a butter as Brown contemplates which woman to choose in a room full of options. Content aside the delivery is where the 20-year-old is luminescent.

Everything runs pretty steadily until the “Rihanna potholes” rear their heads. Despite stating that certain songs are not about the pop singer, at this point it’s very hard to believe. The first of his sob story begins with “Crawl,” where he pleads with his lover to return and they will slowly put the pieces of their embattled relationship back together. Then there’s “So Cold” which is full-fledged self-loathing. Underneath soft piano keys the Virginia native takes us through all the symptoms of a broken heart. “Tell her I miss her. Tell her I need her. Tell her I want her, I really want her to come back home, back to keep me warm. Tell her I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, Can you forgive me? Please forgive me.” Null of personal references this track is an impressive hybrid of sad love song and hopeful reconciliation. Lastly, the Ryan Leslie produced “Famous Girl,” is pretty much an open letter to Riri; and it’s not a sugary sweet letter either, which is kind of cool.
We can undoubtedly hear Brown’s metamorphosis from baby-faced teenager to grown man status on “What I Do,” an upbeat drum intense club joint featuring Plies. For his part, Plies manages to stay within the lines of the beat providing for a match made in “hip-pop” heaven. “Take My Time” featuring Tank serves up some classic R&B melody circa the late 90s Jodeci era, but once Brown hooks up with Trey Songz on “Wait,” he finally gets the ball rolling. Similar to the “Gimme That,” off his debut “Wait” (produced by Polow Da Don) is something like a phenomenon.
Perhaps the most reflective, as opposed to descriptive, song on the album is “Lucky Me” which details the downfalls of fame (i.e. having your domestic altercation become the subject of public banter). For the first time in the entire album, the listener will get a glimpse into Brown’s heart, which is just the kind of support he needs right now.
In its entirety “Graffiti” holds a little something for all of the Billboard charts: pop, R&B, hip-hop and even dance, which to Brown’s credit is a clever approach. No the music is not earth shattering, but its solid as a rock, so whether you love him or hate him Chris Breezy is back and he brought his A-game.

all these comments are unbeliveable i mean all this fighting on the internet is not neccessary becausse chris brown and rihanna still love each other and i don’t think they would like you guys fight over this stupid mess. that is what like 10 months old and people need to grow up and get over and they would want the same .i would say i do not know them personally but i prefere to listen to chris because his music makes me feel good and rihanna ‘s are very cachty and that is about it i mean as far as her singing goes i would say 2/5 .i think her voice sounds terrible but her songs can be cachty.as far as chris brown his voice can very annoying and irrating but i like watching him because he is a very good entertainer and the music flows along. the BET awards were bad but they not only had a few days but they could have picked better artists to perform like ne-yo should have been dancing.what he said was right but peple seem to not be able to read right and blow things out of proportions .i think what he really means for those you who can not read in between the lines go back to school .i’m a very good at reading i read alot it says by clarifying to me that he is saying the BET were bad not only because not enough hype but because they were too busy tryig to get him in there show instead of focusing on the show not him.not becasue he wasn’t there . as far as the albums go i read the comments it seems as chris brown is doing better than rihanna to me because if chris brown’s album as only been for two and it has alread sold 180k worldwide than that ‘s not bad because rihanna’s album has been out over 2 weeks now it’s not a good camprison because if this contuines then chris will sell more than rihanna.as far as i heard a lot of his fans want to buy his album .we will see in a couple of weeks who’s ablum is has higher sales .

  36. Mr.727 December 10, 2009

People are seeing him for who he is!!! He is just pissed off cuz he was snub from the awards!!!! After all that s*** he did to Rihanna!!! He is a f****** joke that people want to see is ass shuck an jive on stage!!! Dude needs a serious reality check!!!

If Jay-z never does anything right again in his life, this was the right thing to do!!!!

The B.E.T awards were…well, yeah, they were wack. They had a short window of time to organize it and it showed. But for Chris to assume he would have made a world of difference is a joke! He’s talented, yeah, but to make it a worthy tribute he he would have to be in control of the WHOLE production – which he is not and never has been.

Chris was the one artist i wanted to see at this show!!! And everyone would agree… the show was lame. And BET did make the wrong choice in not let’n him on the show…. the show wasn’t about the Chris Brown and Rihanna incident. It was about Michael, and michael loved Chris and thought very highly of him, so i felt it was only right for him to be there…. BET dropped the ball BIG TIME
