Ciara And Darkchild Collaborate On New Album
Popular producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins has been hard at work in the studio throughout 2009. However, the musician, who will be releasing a 50 track medley of his greatest hits later this evening on his official website, shows no signs of slowing down. In a recent announcement on his twitter page, Jerkins revealed that he has returned to the studio with Ciara, whom he collaborated with on her ‘Fantasy Ride’ LP on the track ‘Pucker Up’. ‘Fantasy Ride’ has sold a dismal 300, 000 copies to date.
This is some very interesting news. As one of people who largely enjoyed Ciara’s ‘Fantasy Ride’, I was very disappointed that the project failed to take off, especially given her extensive list of strong performances. Hopefully Darkchild will be able to give her the fire that she needs to propel herself to the top of the charts.
Sidebar: I am very happy that she decided not to let The-Dream and Tricky Stewart handle the entire project. Although Mariah Carey’s ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’ was a solid album, the sound got rather redundant half-way through.

i dunna, rodney has been hit or miss this era. I wish cici sucess and GLAD that she isn’t exclusively working with Dream/Tricky but I can’t say that anything lately from Rodney has shook my world.

i’m glad to know i’m not one of the few people who actually enjoyed Fantasy Ride. If people gave it half a chance, it could have done better. I think she lost interest in it and decided to move on. Hopefully she gets back on the charts. Haters will hate, but she stays doing her thing!

I agree. I think she went back into the studio because the majority of the material on Fantasy Ride (although very strong) had leaked online almost 6 months before the album was released.
She probably wanted to come back out with something fresh and different for the fans. hence the quick turnaround between albums.
Ciara gets a lot of hate (unfairly) she is actually one of the few young artists who is a true entertainer and performer like Chris Brown. She writes, produces (she co-produced Like A Boy) and she is obviously one of the best dancers in the game.
I’m anticipating her new project. 2010 is going to be good. New Sade, Beyonce and Ciara.

FR was plastered all over the net like 5 months before the album release…there were like only two songs that nobody heard prior to the release. Yet it still debuted #3 on the Hot 100(her third Top 3) and #9 in the UK(#10 in Ireland) … better than Rihanna’s Rated R’s debut! seriously, who DIDN’T flop this year besides Eminem, Jay z, and susan boyle?
I can’t wait to hear the goods from CiCi! I know she’s coming back hard!
