Mariah Teams With Ne-Yo For New Single

According to our friends over at the uber reliable Mariah Daily Journal, Mariah Carey is set to release ‘Angel’s Cry’ (Remix) featuring label mate Ne-Yo as the first single from her ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ remix LP. The song is set to go for adds on US radio on January 4th 2010.

Hmm…I’ll reserve judgement until hearing the actual song, however it goes without saying that there is a lot riding on this ‘remix’ (aka saving face) project – not least Mimi’s relevancy. Yes, she has a dedicated fan-base, yet as the sales-to-date of ‘Memoirs’ show, sometimes that just isn’t enough. Also worth mentioning, is the hilarity that is any suggestion that Mimi is beyond needing to sell anything or prove anything to anyone – which I’ve heard from a few. I’m afraid when you’re one of the world’s biggest stars and signed to a MAJOR label, you’re expected to bring in profit from your sales. Simple as. I strongly doubt Def Jam would be pumping money into her videos and promo, and not expect anything back. “C’mon son”! The industry doesn’t work like that.

Anyway, feeling I’ve slightly drifted off topic, I imagine this track will ‘surface’ any time from now. Mariah and Ne-Yo sure sounds like a great collaboration on paper. Here’s hoping it translates well on track.

  2. wtf December 15, 2009

i will be honest…neyo is a bore of late..i honestly dnt expect anything new or different from what he has done that will spark any slight interest for this album than what it already has…

good luck but i think she should just call this project a rap..will wait and hear it but am not excited at all..having said that i am sure def jams books are not looking too good right now..i think mimi should leave..what happened to those rumours??

“Memoirs…” might not have sold huge, buh Obsessed peaked @ #6 on the Hot 100 , and the single went platnium, so it hasn’t all been bad. Angels Cry is one of the best tracks on the album lyricaly as well as vocally (angels cry prelude) and hopefully Ne-yo brings something fresh this time around, the remix album needs to be a hit for her.

Mariah honey, just stop. This era for you is over.

haven’t ppl learned yet.. PLEASE NEVER COUNT MARIAH CAREY OUT.. BECAUSE SHE WILL ALWAYS THROW EGG IN YOUR FACES LATER.. IF MARIAH FLOPS THIS TIME. TRUST SHE WILL GO INTO HIDING AND COME BACK RECORD THE BIGGEST RECORD OF THE NEW DECADE… JUST WATCH

Sam you’re ignorant Mariah doesn’t have anything to prove. But then again your opinion isn’t worth much,,,UK dude talkin alot of s*** when everyone knows your music is 2nd tier compared to the US. Anyway Mariah was just named as having the song of the decade for “We Belong Together” meaning it was the most played song of the decade….So tell me what an accomplished artist like Mariah still has to prove?

  7. B Rad December 15, 2009

Personally, I’ve always wanted to her Mariah and Neyo together so this could be very interesting. However, I’d like to hear them on something new too to see what they could come up with.

Honestly at this point I see this a thankyou to the fans for two decades of ups and downs. As for an artist like Mimi who crosses all walks of life. No by any means was this era or decade her best but compared to many of peers she is still a force and I would say its a wrap for her yet because many said that after Charmbracelet and bam just like that she slapped everyone in the face with the biggest comeback this decade. Also she the billboard #1 song of the last dacade and the recent decade which speaks volumes. I must say I enjoy memiors and like AC very much.Hopefully the remix album has fire as well.

  11. THE TRUTH December 15, 2009

MARIAH SHOULD FOR HER OWN LABEL LIKE DOLLY PARTON AND MJB. THEN WE CAN SAY F-U, FLOP 4EVER!! HOLD OFF SETTING UP THAT LA HOUSE WITH NICKY BOY… DONE, NUFF SAID.

  16. ExLamb December 15, 2009

    Top 75 🙁

As much I like Mariah, this is another wrong single choice, Betcha Gon Know should be the next single..

  17. Nars December 15, 2009

    Mariah’s Angels Cry————————> MJ’s This Is It

    🙂

  18. Drake December 15, 2009

Mariah is so 6 years ago

  19. FUSION December 15, 2009

I love Mariah to death lol, but honestly think Angels Cry is a lame single choice. It’s so obvious, so expected and sounds like a poor version of We Belong Together. I hope the remix adds something different and not just Neyo getting his 2 cents worth in. When I heard her tour will be called ‘Angels Advocate’, I have to admit that I suspected this will be the next single. Its boring. Surely IDJ should know that after what happened with Bye Bye, I Stay in Love (remember that lol?), I wanna kno, that ballads are not the way to go!

Oh and FTR, IDJ are not MAJOR record label. They are a lame a*** excuse for a record company, run by a bunch of clowns and headed by a cowboy.

Sam, I’m not mad your hilarious. Your friends at Mariah daily journal? The lambs hate you almost as much as they hate Perez. They just ignore this site so they won’t give you extra hits. I don’t really care either way. This site is like the blog version of Classic Whitney. You’ve got half her fans here anyway co-signing the faux comeback. The Grammy snub must’ve stung like a bish. Funny how her peers didn’t even bother to look at “I Look to You.” Anywho, like everybody said you can never really count Mariah out. People said the same thing after the back to back flops of Glitter and Charm. And, people also told her to never act again then Precious hit. So maybe you and the other naysayers should just suck it.

  21. magdalena December 15, 2009

well, dear Mariah, it won’t help. this song is too boring anyway

  22. parisian girl December 15, 2009

oh mariah, what about betcha gon know?
    this era is done!!!

  23. j December 15, 2009

GREAT One more flop away from the funny farm. Mariah do you even love yourself anymore?

  24. Stoney-Brie December 15, 2009

    BYE-GURL-FLY-GURL!!!!!!!!

  25. Dane December 15, 2009

    Rolling Stone:
Beyonce is the Queen of POP

How could we possibly have gotten through this brutal bummer of a decade without Beyoncé. Calling her a mere R&B diva is, at this point, almost an insult: With grace and grit, Beyoncé has become the reigning queen of pop…

  26. Kevin December 15, 2009

Hmmm…I like Angel’s Cry…good song for Jan/Feb. The woman will do almost anything for a hit these days. Ne-Yo is OK nothing spectacular. I see IDJ is going the cheap route with using another one of their artist to collab with MC SMH. If this flops maybe she’ll just go away and enjoy her “little” 19 city tour which won’t even sell out.

  27. G.U.S December 15, 2009

will be a big hit, like the rest of the album. If they give good
promotion will come very high on the lists. Mariah is a
great singer with many albums to do ahead
also “Angels Cry” is one of the best songs
    Memories

  28. dan December 16, 2009

as thought, she should have stopped after emancipation…would have been great to leave the stage

memoirs was a good album, but guess people arent feeling her anymore

and emancipation was one of her best works to date

  29. HEALTHY BLACK QUEENS December 16, 2009

After the disappointment over the Beyonce/Gaga collaboration, I won’t get my hopes up over this.

  30. heat seeker December 16, 2009

Angels Cry sounds like Bye Bye from E-Mc2!

Pretty boring if you ask me. Nothing could save this album. This era is finished!

  31. The OneMr December 16, 2009

Memoirs of an imperfect Angle is a great album with a wonderful voice to go along with it……. How can a love song be boring? either you can relate to if from past experiences or not and if you can’t please believe alot of other people can!!!! Its not the fact of this Album not being a wounderful list of songs pople can relate to, but more so how the music world is dumbing down with a focus on beats and videos in the place of real music………SAD people very Sad. If you purchase Memoirs I promise you will enjoy the album. At least listen to it before you knock it!!!!

  32. The OneMr December 16, 2009

Mariah I can’t wait to see you live in Atlanta on january 1-19-2010………I listen to memoirs every day along with several others who i put on to the album……Its classic music….Thank you so much keeping living life and enjoying yourself…..Until the concert!!!!! i WILL SEE YOU SOON! tHE VOICE…
