With the decade drawing to a close, it appears Justin Timerlake is feeling somewhat remorseful about his after-antics following the much publicized Janet Jackson ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at the Superbowl 2004. When asked recently by Entertainment Weekly what his biggest regret of the decade was, Timberlake, 28, said:
“I wish I had supported Janet more (during the 2004 wardrobe malfunction Super Bowl controversy). I’m not sorry I apologized, but I wish I had been there more for Janet”
Hmm. While I definitely subscribe to the notion of folk deserving 2nd chances, I can’t help but think this a) comes a little too late and b) not on a large enough platform for all to hear. There’s no doubt about the fact that Janet’s career took a major hit after the drama surrounding ‘Nipple-gate’ (funny when looking at the current Adam Lambert hoo-haa), something I can imagine wouldn’t have been as severe had Justin stood united with her at the time of the accident/incident. In any case, moving forward, here’s wishing them both much success…
Drama aside, the performance itself was actually one of Janet’s best live showings IMO. Check it out below (la Janet was working it at the 4.26 mark!):

@the first commenter… umm this was a HUGE deal in the U.S! ABC was sued $500,000! and so many other smaller lawsuits. Other artists were even affected. And it’s the reason why the superbowl air it’s halftime shows seconds delayed.
Anyway I think JT is right about regreting not supporting her.

look at both of those careers since Feb.02 2004. He went UP, she went DOWN. I heard his last album, pure SHIT, Damita Jo, 20 Y.O., and Discipline were all WAY better than his shitty album (feebacks way better than Sexyback) so yea FUCK HIM, up his stupid ass. I dont think he meant for this to happen to her, but I think he was told not to help her out or something, honestly. But whatever, like someone said, he’ll get his, and she’ll get up. whether its next year, or 5 years from now, mark my word I gotta yell it out becaue I belive it. This is a bit late!! Although the incident was totally blown out of proportion it has
(irreversibly) damaged Janet’s career as she was scapegoated for it. It’s hardly admirable to apologise now and admit guilt when no-one will care. Why didn’t you do it at the time. Now Janet is pumping out quality music to only her strong supporters whilst Timberlake chucks out standard r&b songs and everyone runs out and buys it. It’s too late, the situation can never truly be rectified which i’m gutted about because I think Janet is ‘it’ when it comes to pop/r&b artists. She’d still be on top today if this incident hadn’t stolen her momentum!
