Published: Sunday 10th Jan 2010 by Sam

Alicia Keys appeared on Saturday Night Live a few hours ago, helping the legendary show launch their latest season. As well as taking part in a hilarious skit, which you can watch above, the Grammy Award winner also performed current single ‘Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart’, as well as fan favourite ‘Empire State of Mind (Part 2)’ – both of which you can watch below:

Empire State of Mind (Part 2)

She nailed it, as usual!

That skit was SOOOOO stupid, Alicia Keys wasn’t even funny in it. Andy Samberg was mildly funny but that was SOOO lame.

    A. Keys is so boring!

Ok.. I loved Alicia’s previous 3 albums, but her new album… wow. I think its just terrible. I’m just not feeling it.. and I find it hard to watch any performance from her… I’m just not feeling the music. I like exactly 3 songs on her new album.

The skit was…what it was. Didn’t laugh. Didn’t care.

I still LOVE TSWABH! Wait Til You See My Smile is another standout track on her album.

Lovely and, most importantly, classy outfit. Instead of dancers, flashy lights and whatever else, she brought focus to the most important things- the vocals and the music. The only thing she needs is to stop using the piano as a crutch. She plays, we get it, but there’s no need to return to the piano for ten seconds at the end just for the sake of reminding us.

The skit was just OK but the performances were amazing! She killed it as usual.

Alicia can act, they should have given her a better part. Love the performances though and both outfits.

Thanks for posting these videos. Alicia Keys is an amazing talent with an astonishing voice and a pretty good sense of humor. Empire State of Mind is a perfect tribute to the complexities, excitement, opportunities, and frustrations of New York.
