Ke$ha Performs On GMTV

Published: Saturday 20th Feb 2010 by Trent

Ke$ha hit the stage on the UK’s GMTV yesterday. The Pop sensation performed ‘Blah Blah Blah’, the 2nd single from her #1 debut album, ‘Animal’. Thus far, the song has peaked at #7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #11 on the UK Singles Chart. Ke$ha’s 1st single, ‘Tik Tok’, remains at #1 for a 9th week on the Hot 100 and if it maintains that position for 1 more week, it would tie Debbie Boone’s record for the longest running #1 debut single by a female artist.

Ke$ha put on a basic show by her standards. However, I’m sure that I’m not the only one who hears strong similarities between this track and ‘Tik Tok’. Isn’t it interesting that the latter is already more successful on the Billboard Hot 100 than Mariah Carey’s ‘Vision of Love’ or even Alicia Keys’ ‘Fallin”? O how the times have changed…

Thoughts?

Ur right trent, but 10 years from now, nobody will remember tik tok,
but people will remember Vision Of Love and fallin.

  2. sugar February 20, 2010

I like her song blablabla i hope she does a collabo with chris brown

  3. blasian February 20, 2010

WHAT IN THE WORLD IN WRONG WITH THE U.S WHEN I COMES TO MUSIC. WHAT IS WRONG WITH US???

  4. YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut February 20, 2010

@ Jeff, that is so stupid. Do you really think 10 years from now Tik Tok is gonna be forgettable, or are you just a hater? That’s like saying Pokerface is gonna be forgotten about 10 years from now. Same s***, same genre, different day. A hit is a hit no matter what. Tik Tok is what music is right now, just like Fallin’ was what music was 10 years ago, just like Vision Of Love was what music was 20 years ago.

    Let’s not get cute now..

  5. YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut February 20, 2010

Trent, is Sam still doing the interview or what?! I know Kesha ditched you haters last week because she was hung over from the Brit awards, lmao.

I’m so sad and angry !

I’m afraid of the future of music with that commercial music, but I see around me a lot of people who are willing to discover other things than “the hits”… I’m from France that’s maybe the reason why…

I mean MJ was an ARTIST ! James Brown was an ARTIST…. etc
These Artists had hits, had success, had talent, had personnality, and were “for real” !!!

    SAD ! SAD ! SAD !

  7. yesyes February 20, 2010

    god its scary….

ill give her 3 weeks at number 1…..but 9??? damn.

  8. cool chick February 20, 2010

this generation is brainwashed with too much bullsh!t, wouldn’t even call it ‘music’ that’s the problem!
That new Luda song, Janet new crap sucks!!! Its a train wreck about ready to crash smh

    @ YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut

Yes I Do Think That. That BS will be forgotten 20 years from now, cuz i highly doubt Ke$ha will be come an Icon Like Mariah or will have staying power like her or Alicia keys.

And hmmm maybe it i’ll be talked about in the future but i doubt it will be regarded as One of the best debut singles in history or it will inspire anybody to sing like vision of love did to many singers!

  11. YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut February 20, 2010

Only time will tell whether Kesha will become an icon or have staying power in the industry. People’s “doubts” about her are so irrelevant, it’s not even funny. Kesha must be doing something right for people to sit behind their computers trying to dictate whether this chick is gonna last or not, especially considering the fact the chick ain’t even a flop. It is what it is.

To those of you who are talking about “real music” and bringing up dead musicians, build a time machine and go back to the 60’s then! “Real artists” aren’t coming back, plain and simple. This is the times we live in and we just have to deal with it. What I appreciate about my own musical tastes is that I’m able to jam to those real “back in the day” artists who have paved the way for today’s sound, along with the sounds of the current times. People need to have an open mind when it comes to music. Those who don’t have an open mind…well I feel sorry for yall because it’s certainly not gonna get any better.

  12. h February 20, 2010

What is “real music”? I know a lot of people who consider Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys to be “real music” because of their lyrics, however just as many people like the Lady Gaga, Kesha and Britney sorts because of how catchy their music is and consider that “real music” in the end doesn’t it just come down to taste… I mean if you like those back in the day stuff, there’s always your iPod–no-one is forcing anyone to listen to what’s on the charts right now.

  13. JEFF February 20, 2010

    @ YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut

I have an open mind, fact is i think she is BS.

I wont say the same thing about Lady gaga cuz shes already made a name for herself and is on another level wayyyy above Ke$ha.

  14. JEFF February 20, 2010

    @ H

You cannot compare Britney nor Lady gaga to Ke$ha,

What is Ke$ha bringing to the table? Nothing New, yes the song is catchy and is a hit already around the world but seriously , like i said 20 yrs from now nobody will give 2 shits for this song.

  15. RANDOM February 20, 2010

blah blah blah is #1 and bad romance is #2 they are talking about pretty much the same thing so stop with the hate.

  16. RANDOM February 20, 2010

i mean tik tok of course how did i make that mistake

  17. YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut February 20, 2010

Jeff, your opinion is strictly that – an opinion. It is what it is, you may not give two shits about the song but it doesn’t mean others won’t in the future. No matter what the case is, the song won’t be as relevant 10 or 20 years from now as whatever is current in those times. Just like Vision of Love and Fallin’ isn’t as relevant as Tik Tok in these current times.

When it comes to Lady Gaga, she is in no way whatsoever “wayyyy” above Kesha. Sure she’s sold more albums and has a generally solid fanbase, but that’s only because she’s been around longer. The fact that Gaga is not way above Kesha is even more apparent with Kesha pretty much breaking every record Gaga has set, along with acquiring a number 1 album – something Gaga has yet to do. Kesha isn’t on Gaga’s level yet, but there’s no doubt she’s catching up quick.

@H, you nailed it right on the head!

  18. JEFF February 20, 2010

    YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut

is not about wats relevant or not is about what song has made a bigger impact in the industry.

yes tik tok will be know as the Biggest debut single of a female but it wont be recognized as nothing else because surely another female will come out and break that record.

Plus look Vision of Love was released 20 years ago and yet here we are talking about it.

Like i said Vision of Love is remembered as one of the most iconic debut songs ever and has inspired millions of singers. and i doubt Tik-Tok will be remembered for that.

  19. NO February 21, 2010

Please someone move this b**** from #1 PLEASE… anybody??? Who is realising new stuff now? Christina Aguilera please hurry up with “Glam” and kick this b**** from #1 place…

  20. NO February 21, 2010

ANIMAL is the worst Ive heard so far. This music is BS
    Im talking about
    everybody get drunk
boy trying to touch my JUNK I MEAN … THIS IS RETARDED

  21. Kenney February 21, 2010

Ok so Kesha is already annoying me! If the radios arent playing Lady Gag-Me every 5 minutes then theyre either playing Blah Blah Blah or Tik Tok. Blah Blah Blah is just a lazy title for a song. They couldn’t get more creative with it? Same with Tik Tok! Christina Aguilera needs to hurry the f*** up and release her new s*** to put all these gimmicky drowned out overrated b****** in their places. Christina I know you filming your movie still but give us the f****** song already…GLAM….sometimes you just don’t know how much you torture your fans. To make things worse, Gag-Me, Kesha, Rihanna can’t even sing let alone hold a note. Who the f*** is Justin Beiber. A 15 year with Ludacris on a track? Our music is going way downhill now. Whatever happened to good quality music that had emotion and feeling. instead now we have “Pooookkkerrfffaacceee, wake up in the morning feelin like P.Diddy, one two three only need you and me, on my video phone etc……” Lawd shut these f****** overrated b****** the f*** up!

  22. Aryo February 21, 2010

^^one two three NOT ONLY U AND ME. not: not only need U and me
    that doesn’t make sense.

  23. h February 21, 2010

TBH, why do people think Xtina’s gonna have an instant hit with “Glam” if a masterpiece like “Ain’t No Other Can” couldn’t crack the top 5… just saying.

  24. February 21, 2010

“Ain’t No Other Man” hit number 6, so I don’t see the big deal in one spot.

  25. matt February 21, 2010

can i just say that gaga has had a number one album, im sure it hit number one in usa i’m not sure. but why the fugg does it have to hit number one in usa for it to be a hit, it hit number one everywhere else. it has rose to number two in the uk and has been out for 58 weeks. please don’t compare kesha to gaga because even those two names shouldn’t be bought up in the same sentence, that is just plain STUPIDD!!!

  26. X,Y,”and Z” February 21, 2010

    Who gives a “deep-fried pubic hairs!” …Y’all are missing-the-point: She’s the new “IT girl” – NO-MORE-RIHANNA!!! ….Yessssssssssssssssss TeamKe$ha!!!

    X,Y,”and Z” — OUT!!

  27. Randy February 21, 2010

Aha lol at the pubic hairs thing. I don’t like her, get nothing out of it but it doesn’t stop anyone else from liking her. Either way this is today’s music bland boring and recyled. how she can still be at number one is beyond me, noone cares about partying and tik tokking that much do they. And she always looks like she just woke up.
If this is bad wht about Susan Boyle?? Fair doos shes all around the world and i’m happy for her but how in the foolishness does she stay up at number one for that long with a cover album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(only one out of 13 was original). she halted alicia and mary among others.

  28. Randy February 21, 2010

O and Sam the site is absolutely pissin me off with the url redirections i cnt even get on to the normal home page let alone the links anymore.

  29. YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut February 21, 2010

@Matt, Gaga doesn’t have a number 1 album in the US. The Fame peaked at #2 and The Fame Monster peaked at #5.

@NO – did you just say her album (Animal) was the worst you’ve heard yet…then only quoted ONE SONG from the album?? Child please…

  30. Kami February 21, 2010

    After Blah Blah Blah finishes..
The next potential hits off of Animal are…

    “My Secret Weapon”
    “Hung Over”
and/or possibly “Your Love Is My Drug” / “Kiss N Tell”

If Hung Over is released as a single/video,
I’m pretty sure that it’ll sway the criticism against her by a bit.
Its actually a pretty good song. I can tell because when you find songs with catchy choruses that hit an emotional appeal …they tend to win better opinions about the artist.

  31. Kenney February 21, 2010

@ ARYO- exactly the song doesn’t make sense! How can britney make a song about a threesome and it hits #1 but christina gets ridculed for Dirrty and don’t use that lame ass excuse “cause she’s Britney”? Lady Gag-Me hasn’t had a #1 album in the US yet nor have any of her 2 cds debuted @ #1 in the US. check wikipedia.org Monster hasn’t even been certified plat yet in the US. It’s only steadied the top 5. That shows and proves that only the gay community is buying her freak horrible gimiicky s***! Why do you think Gag-Me had to combine the 2 cd’s together to make it look like she’s sold a lot. She also contradicted herself when she said that Monster was a stand alone album and that it was too expensive to just rerelase fame but then rereleased it combining it with the fame. cause the 1st week sales are living proof that just the gays are buying her s***!

  32. sickwitit February 21, 2010

dont worry this drunk broad will not be around for long, she cant dance, she cant sing, and soon this “sound” will play out

  33. Kenney February 21, 2010

    Lady Gag-Me
The Fame- debuted @ #17 in US w/ 24,000 in 1st week as of 2010 sold 8 mill ww
The Fame Monster- debuted @ #5 in US w/ 174,000 in 1st week as of 2010 657,000 ww

    Christina Aguilera
Debut album debuted @ #1 in US w/ 252,000 in 1st week 10 yrs later as of 2010 sold 15 mill ww
Stripped- debuted @ 2 in US w/ 330,000 in 1st week as of 2010 sold 13 mill ww
Back to Basics- debuted @ #1 in US w/ 360,000 in 1st week as of 2010 sold 5 mill ww

Lady Gag-Me= zero #1 albums in US
Christina Aguilera= 2 #1 albums in US soon to be 3 once Bionic releases.

Now who did you say is better?

  34. matt February 21, 2010

so what if it only went to number two, it is what you call LONGEVITY. she is still at number 7 after 68 weeks. come back when kesha has done that. kesha’s only hanging around at the bottom end of the top 20 after how many weeks, erm 6 weeks, add another 62 weeks to that and then come back talking your kesha s***.

  35. matt February 21, 2010

how good you are doesn’t revolve around which position you get in the billboard 200, stop talking your s***!

  36. Kenney February 21, 2010

@ Matt- i just have the goods to back myself up! if it weren’t for 95% of Gag-Me’s fan base being the gay community she wouldn’t be s***! Look how plain she was when she 1st came out and then the gays noticed her and that gave her the boost she needed. Album sales do reflect how great of an artist you are and the songs that are on Monster were just leftovers from Fame.
