Kelly Rowland Enlists Polow Da Don For New Album

Published: Sunday 21st Feb 2010 by Sam

Universal Motown‘s latest signee Kelly Rowland is currently wrapping up the recording process of her hotly anticipated 3rd solo album, and it appears the 29 year old has left the best till last. Following recent confirmation that she’s has been recording with hit-makers Ne-Yo and Danja, it has now been revealed that the Destiny’s Child star has also been working with Polow Da Don on the project in Los Angeles. {Source}

Rowland worked with Polow on her 2007 smash ‘Like This’; the then-little-known producer, real name Jamal Jones, went on to craft hits for the likes of Ciara (‘Promise’), Fergie (‘London Bridge’, ‘Glamorous’), Usher (‘Love In This Club’), Keri Hilson (‘Turnin’ Me On’), and Chris Brown (‘Forever’).

Kelly and her new team are NOT playing this go round. I love it! As we reported, the album’s first single is set to drop in April, with the album following in May/June.

  5. Me February 21, 2010

It said May/June. This album’s gonna be hot.
    They got Kelly’s age wrong!

  6. Independent Thinker February 21, 2010

She’s working with Polo again. Good look. It’s always nice when producers and artsists can reconnect and recreate. I hope he produces a fire track for her and I hope that her vocals are dynamite.

    @ Me,
They did not post the wrong age for Kelly. She just turned 29 over a week ago(Feb.11).

  7. rnbcascade February 21, 2010

I like how she has been working with nothing but the best this go round.. I hope they put the marketing behind her just as they have put the money behind her

  8. ADE February 21, 2010

i really hope she does well this time round…Ms Kelly was the s***! she had some tunes on there man!

  9. 12345 February 21, 2010

@12345 Carry ur hating ass somewhere else…. both were rnb hits.. and if I’m not mistaken they were in the top 30 hits 100!! Next

  14. February 21, 2010

while big name producers don’t necessarily =/= good material, i think polow could give her something pretty interesting. i’d like to hear her do something similar to “promise”.

  15. dit24 February 21, 2010

All you haters can have a glass of STFU and make a toast to this hit record! #TeamKelly

  16. 12345 February 21, 2010

    @rnbcascade
ROFL, a song is a hit when it reaches the top 10, not top 30, sucker

  17. Umm February 21, 2010

Sam…as usual..your facts are a little off…Polow became big because of hits with Fergie both released well before “Like This”…I wish Kelly luck, but like most stans you are giving your girl too much credit.

  18. JoshuaBuzz February 21, 2010

I hope the song has those hollow drums á la Turnin Me On/Little Freak, and a feature rap. I will be upset if this album is devoid of feature artists…

  19. hihihihi February 21, 2010

PROMISE CAME OUT BEFOOOOOOOOOOOOORE LIKE THIS

    OCT 06

  20. love this woman February 21, 2010

Go kelly! I can’t believe she really has professional haters! Ya’ll be on EVERY thread saying something negative! Damn, the story only said that she was working with Polo how the hell did ya’ll flip that into a negative? wow. Anyways universal motown are really pulling out all the stops. I can’t wait to hear the final process because it’s shaping up to be a huge year for kelly.

  21. movieman February 21, 2010

so much effort yet pointless , kelly will flop

she is a flop and will always be a flop

and now she can flop with her new flopping bf brandy on there new flop label

flopping season is about to begin

  22. AJ February 21, 2010

Movieman and your a flop because well nobody knows who the f you are. Nobody care who the f you are and now jump off a bridge and die!!! HEHEHEHE!!! EVIL LAUGH!!

  23. parisian girl February 21, 2010

    yesss kelly!!!

  24. Kenney February 21, 2010

The only reason why kelly is working with only the best is cause Matthew is no longer her manager let alone involved in her career. This just proves and shows that matthew saved all the s***** producers and songs for Kelly when he controlled her career. Im def ready for Ms. Kelly’s big huge comeback!

  25. Kenney February 21, 2010

I wouldn’t be surpirsed if matthew pays radio stations and promoters not to play or promote Kelly just to keep his fatass daughter more popular.

  26. cam February 21, 2010

I didn’t see anyone say like this was a hit or put polo on the map so you haters missed me with that one

anyway I’m happy for kelly I’m overly excited to hear this album I can’t even express

  27. sugar February 21, 2010

Good for her, i dont know why trent/sam is not posting anything about her winning a grammy for her “when love takes over”

    Go Kelly go

  28. GLYNNIEE February 21, 2010

@ MOVIE MAN shut the f*** up!!! am happy for Kelly,.. cant wait…<3

  29. loso February 21, 2010

kelly is beautiful and amazing and no one else compares to her. She is my idol and I love her. I will be buying every single and album she puts out forever. She is a true humble artist and I love that God has so much for her and the haters can’t stop Gods plan for her.

  30. lebo(Caribbeanboi) February 21, 2010

MS kelly doing it .. Keri has written for her before but the song never made it on MS KELLY ABLUM …

  31. Nick February 21, 2010

Umm… since when was “Like This” a smash? It was a good song, but it failed to even make it to top 40 and killed the momentum for “Ms. Kelly”. Stop trying to skew the facts.

  32. dereon February 21, 2010

nick it reached top 30 gets your facts straight.

  33. Ghetto Fab February 21, 2010

Look idiots was the song a “smash hit?” NO. But it wasn’t a bomb either. The song charted all over the place and she has to be commended for that. Let’s not forget this is Kelly with the Knowles camp. We all know what went down. As far as I’m concerned she was lucky to have this with the s***** work Mathew Knowles was doing, or lack there of work. It was a cute little song so let’s not get carried away. When’s the last time any song of any of you have charted anywhere??? Below are the charts.

    Australian ARIA Singles Chart 13
    Austrian Singles Chart 75
    Belgian (Flanders) Singles Chart 50
    Canadian Hot 100 2
    Dutch Singles Chart 46
    Euro Digital Songs 8
    Eurochart Hot 100 Singles 16
    German Black Charts 6
    Global Dance Tracks 21
    Irish Singles Chart 5
    New Zealand Singles Chart 11
    Swiss Singles Chart 77
    UK Singles Chart 4
    U.S. Billboard Hot 100 30
    U.S. Billboard Pop 100 44
    U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs 7
U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play 1

  34. rightround(U.S.A pride!) February 21, 2010

@12345, did u just ask when was “Promise” as hit? it was #11 on hot 100 and #1 on r&b charts, AND it was critically acclaimed. idk what planet you live on. That song and Fergie’s “London brigde” are probably the biggest songs Polow has produced.

anway, good luck to Kelly. hopefully her support on this site will translate to big sales!

  35. Dave February 21, 2010

B****, “Promise” was a hit it was #11 on Billboard Hot 100, w/ over 100+ mill radio impressions & it was #1 on Billboard R&B/Hip Hop. & “Like This” was a moderate hit, sit yo hating ass down. ANYWAY, lmao. I CAN’T F***** WAIT!! KELLY IS GOIN INN!!!

  36. kingnoah3000 February 21, 2010

If it aint gay it aint rite lmao. (Beyonce n lady gaga) That’s why the industry the way it is because of haters. Even if kellz come out with a number one single, people will not support simply because they are beyonce fans, people won’t give credit when its due “via her winnin a grammy” . Kelly do your thing baby! Stay tru to ya self and your art. Have them haters drink bleach.

  37. Jamie February 21, 2010

Haters need not be addressed; this post is about Kelly Rowland and no one else, definitely not a about a NOBODY!!! Like This went to # 30 on the Billboard 100 Charts thus making it a Top 30 hit. Which is why it’s referred to as a Top 30 “HIT” I’m not even gonna even defend the song because it lacked promotion and still went hard in the clubs and on radio. I’m so excited about this album, and it will speak for itself. The album will go to number one, and will have strong first week sales and continue to sell throughout the summer. The album will be one of the best albums of the summer, and it will fly off of shelves. I’m coppin my five, and that’s all that matters to ME!

  38. Greg February 21, 2010

Wowwww im dying here people. My girl is gonna bring it on tha new record. I don´t know why people or hatin on my girl. She is one off the few female artist who can sing, dance and act. So haters pleasseeee fall the f*** back, cause my girl is goin to show this world down with this one. Yah betta warned your the other female artist. How you doin!

  39. Ben February 21, 2010

Good job Kelly, it looks like it is really bout to happen now.

  40. Sade February 21, 2010

Ahhhhh s***. Ms Kelly ain’t playin’ with this album. Work it out boo!

  41. kekeluvsu February 21, 2010

SMH. They serving hate on a platter in here 😆 . i think Ms. Kelly’s new album will be great. Whether ppl support it or not I def will. 🙂

  42. Pooka February 21, 2010

    Go kelly

  43. TC February 22, 2010

@YAN. A Kelly-Keri collabo would simply be amazing. The only way it could get better is if they threw Brandy on it too, then I would die of the sheer hotness!!!

  44. bbop February 22, 2010

When her new album flops who is everyone going to blame not Matthew or Beyonce but then again her 16 stans will blame them. Nevermind the fact hat Kelly has horrible stage presence and her voice is always going out.Lets face it people Kelly is a flop without Beyonce.

  45. truthwillprevail February 22, 2010

This is going to be great! It better be! I hope no other artist try to take her shine either!

  46. Muni February 22, 2010

@ BBOP what do u win by putting Kelly down, Lets face it everyone knows that with a good producers and good song everyone can make plus with the talent that God gave Kelly she will prove u and many haters wrong. In fact she had very few good producers and song writers because all the good ones was given to (YOU KNOW DON’T PRETEND). So this time you can’t judge before listen to the album, which I am sure you will check it just to make sure. Stop hating because is not doing any good for our artists, If can’t support just BE QUIET.

  47. PLUG February 22, 2010

I just want the album already. It will be interesting to see what she and Polow concoct in the lab this time. I’m sure Kelly will shut alot of people up this year. I know she has some tricks up her sleave. If she was going to allow her career to fail and her legacy to be summed up in Destinys Child, then she might as well have stayed with Matthew Knowles and the Columbia crew but she didn’t. She left them because she wanted the opportunity to do big things with her career; and she’s done more in one year away from the Knowles clan than she had in the eight years that she spent under there management and guidance. A critically acclaimed show (The Fashion Show) on a popular network (Bravo), An international smash (When Love Takes Over), a Grammy win (for When Love Takes Over); not to mention she single handedly put David Guetta on the map and made him one of th most sought after producers of 2010. She’s working with A-list producers and she’s creating what I believe will be the biggest and possibly the best album of her career. Kelly has evolved with every album that she has recorded and her performances for this album will show and prove. People who are hoping to see her fail need to prepare themselves for the upset because Kelly is coming with that hotness and she will be around for as long as she wants to be because unlike many other artist in this game,Kelly has already achieved major success and longevity. She’s established herself as a moderately successful pop star. Now she’s establishing herself as the type of artist people will be talking about (positively) years from now. She’s positioning herself for Icon status.

  48. Jamie February 22, 2010

Everybody’s not superficial, and when Kelly releases this album, she’s going to gain an even broader fanbase. Haters…umm…not relevant. Ms. Kelly please bring on that first single and fast. Just a snippet, please!!!!

  49. lyric_lee February 22, 2010

WOW PLUG I LOVE YOUR OUTLOOK AND I CAN SEE THAT YOU TRULY LOVE MS KELLY LIKE ALL OF HER TRUE FANS DO AND I KNOW MS KELLY IS GOING TO SHUT IT DOWN – SHES ONLY 29 AND REALLY HAS 10 SOLID YEARS LEFT MUSCIALLY SPEAKING – I SEE HER DOING MORE ACTING AS WELL BUT ON THE MUSIC TIP I COULD EASILY SEE 4 MORE ALBUMS A COMPILATION ALBUM VIDEO ALBUM AND LIKE 4 MORE TOURS IF SHE DEVOTES HERSELF FULLY TO HER LABEL AND CRAFT – DAMN DC3 AND EVERYONE ELSE – MS KELLY ITS ALL ABOUT YOU AND YOU ONLY – LET NO ONE STEAL YOUR SHINE!!!!

  50. Quiana February 22, 2010

I think good things are going to come to Kelly now on because she left Pimp Daddy and now finding her own way. This is so good for her and I am happy for her to.

  51. KellyCorner! February 22, 2010

    @ 12345

LET ME EDUCATE YOU ON A LITTLE SOMETHING IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. ANY SONG IN THE TOP 40 ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHART IS CALLED A (WHAT?)
    hit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

‘LIKE THIS’ PEAKED AT NUMBER 30 AND ‘PROMISE’ PEAKED AT NUMBER 11 SO THANK YOU BYE HATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  52. Jamie February 22, 2010

    @Lyric,

Thanks! Yes I do love Ms. Kelly and my fellow fstans/fans because I know we’re all on the same page. We know what she’s capable of. misunderstood and called delusional, but in the end, Kelly’s all that matters. At times we’re Blog sites are so bias that they know she’s talented, but refuse to let their favorite artist(s) be overshadowed, but it’s ok because there is a world outside of the internet, and all they see is Kelly left Matthew, she really does have a backbone. This mkes them inquire to see what she’s serving up. Of course we know that the singles will carry the album, but we also know that she’ll gain more fans daily because of the solid material she’s going to put forth , and that will carry the album even farther.

  53. Liberal February 23, 2010

Also – Promise came out before “Like This”. ‘

Working with big names does not gurantee a hit. Good luck to her but she is simply not a stand out talent.

  54. Liberal February 23, 2010

Plug, you are giving Kelly way too much credit. That fashion show flopped! And the song she was FEATURED on she did not make the producer famous. C’mon – be a fan,but keep it real. David won the grammy not Kelly. Kelly has not done more the last year than she has in her solo career.

  55. Sandra February 23, 2010

This is great. Loving Kelly ! Can’t wait for the album. @Liberal, Kelly did win a grammy. Do your research, and since she has worked with Guetta everyone is trying to work with him. Anyways Kelly will do great.
