Usher’s ‘Raymond v Raymond’ Sales Predictions Are In…

Published: Wednesday 31st Mar 2010 by Sam

According to Hits Daily Double, Usher is looking set to silence the naysayers next week. Based on first day sales, the R&B crooner’s latest LP ‘Raymond v Raymond’ is a cert for the #1 spot on the Billboard 200, with current figures suggesting the album could top the 350,000 mark in first week sales.

With no bonafide Hot 100 chart smash, Usher is not only defying the odds, he’s showing why it’s important not to underestimate true talent. More power to him.

YaY!!!!!! Congrats to Usher! I’m glad he did well with this because I think he would be over had he not done this well! I mean he did do a whoooollllleee lot of promotion. He was in magazines, on every single morning show and a plethora of other shows with the inclusion of American Idol last night. I’m still not totally 100% back in love with Usher but I am happy for him! Congrats dude!

holy s***, 350,000 is amazing in this day and age.

apparently it’s ratings are terrible, so that is very, very interesting.

    http://usherraymondblog.wordpress.com/2010/03/29/interview-usher-talks-raymond-vs-raymond-with-the-new-york-timeswhen-people-buy-my-albums-they-buy-them-for-the-connection/

ON a recent afternoon at an airy recording studio here, Usher Raymond IV leaned back in a chair and sang along as “There Goes My Baby,” a slow-burning ballad from his forthcoming album, “Raymond v. Raymond” (Jive), played over the sound system, occasionally picking up an unlighted cigar, which he rolled in his mouth. When the song ended, this 31-year-old singer, who records under his first name, motioned for an engineer to shut the sound system off and launched into an explanation of the tune’s origins.

“The feeling of it is if you have a true connection with somebody, no matter what happens in life, it will always come back,” he said. “No matter how long it takes to make it through whatever issues pull you apart, something pulls you back together. The rest is between the lines.”

Given that Usher was recently divorced, one might think he was contemplating life with his ex-wife. But when asked if a particular lyric — “Like waterfalls, your hair falls down to your waist” — was intended as a nod and wink to his former girlfriend, Rozonda Thomas, Chili of the R&B group TLC, who scored a career-defining hit with 1994’s “Waterfalls,” Usher smiled broadly.

“Rico’s crazy, right?” he said with a laugh, referring to Rico Love who wrote the song’s lyrics. “He’s a great writer. Real tricky.”

(Rico Love, in a phone interview, admitted the nod was intentional: “I always thought Chilli and Usher were a great couple, so I did that to spark something.”)

There will be more and more reviewers so maybe they will like or not like! So far the critics have a critically divided opinion about this album. I think critics expect far too much from him since he accomplished far too much in the past. It’s not easy but Usher will do fine!

Hope he keeps bringing it (I know he will). More promo is yet to come in the many weeks of April. At this rate all of his songs will move and do great on the bb hot 100. I have a feeling Lil freak and Hey daddy will be cross over hits by surprise and I think OMG will be the biggest hit single (Hot 100 #1 smash). This is much bigger than Love in this club and this album is a lot better than Here I stand.

I am praying Usher at least reaches 500K! Jay-z last album had a prediction of 350K but sold 480K last time. Anyway miracles happen! I am praying for a massive sales week and more success to come in the future Usher! U r my hero always and forever! Yea man! Haters better get lost and get off Usher’s case!

  14. mark ginnis March 31, 2010

  18. Me March 31, 2010

His promotion has been crazy! He has been the go-to performer starting with MJ’s funeral.

  19. Tee March 31, 2010

Congrats to Usher. With his grown man self. I’m rootin for you to take over male R&B again.

  20. YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut March 31, 2010

I’ll believe this s*** when I see it. Talk to me in a week…

  21. Gucci March 31, 2010

Didn’t his album just come out yesterday? How can there already be sales predictions? I don’t really believe this one.

Anywho, Usher is really starting to fall off, and as much as i support time I’m just not feeling some of his new material. Where is the maturity? It’s like he’s trying to appeal to a younger audience but he needs to put those days behind him. That “OMG” song was thee worst.

I still support him though, and i hope he gets his personal life together 🙂

  22. wtf April 1, 2010

personally i am impressed with the predictions…sounds really good to me…get it usher….i know people hate his album but guys, hey daddy is my jam…i love love that song and because of that, i am one of those going to buy his album…yasssss to usher!!!

  23. kooper April 1, 2010

I will download .. crongratz to him but by next month it’ll be called a flop first day sales are no longer the mark of whether someone flop or not it what they do after is what makes the difference for example see Usher last cd opening numbers and that cd is called a FLOP !!!!!!!1

  24. Jay Wright April 1, 2010

I’m so sick of these souja boy tell em’ fans hatin on Usher. But hey I guess its impossible to make music for everybody. Raymond V Raymond its a pretty good album. And I must say that its a whole lot better than the “here I stand” album.

But lets not forget that Confessions wasn’t his only good work. “8701”, and “My way” did successful as well. The “Here I stand” album wasn’t all that great, but it wasn’t that bad ether.

I personally think that Raymond V Raymond is a good as his old work. If not better. Good Job Usher, and welcome back.

  25. thestar April 1, 2010

i love only making love the chorus in that is good! plus OMG is a good clubbanger type song im real happy that true talent is showing in the charts.

  26. Renae April 1, 2010

I bought the album and its not bad, not as many slow jams as I would have liked but overall its not bad.

  27. here to laugh April 1, 2010

I have not been feeling his material as of late, but congrats to him. It’s always good to see the R&B genre selling.

  28. Renee April 2, 2010

Personally, I think hes pretty weak. His dancing Amazing! his singing??? OK at best, has no one really been watching his flat ass balls’n up all his tribute performances lol. It all in the name and advertsn cos once your there you live in the charts wether you like it or not!

  29. Pucci April 3, 2010

I think Usher is also proof of a loyal fanbase, the same thing with his next album. I am so surprised & so proud of Usher for pulling these numbers, giving that his songs have not been hits like his previous album. “Love In This Club” was a major hit back 2008, his album sold very well the first week (loyal fanbase), but then after that, the album didn’t do so well. Truthfully, i hope this album does something for him career wise, i like the album, but judging by the comments on this post, not everybody seems the feel the same way i do about the album.

  30. U. April 5, 2010

    @ Pucci

I don’t think people hate this album! Usher has a bigger following than what we see on this site or any other sites. I think people will love this album more than the last one. This is a lot better than Here I stand and I think this album will outsell Here I stand!

OMG is starting to take off, it will be huge trust me. I think Hey Daddy will be a crossover hit and I am predicting LIl freak will do fine and hope he releases Guilty as the next single in Fall. He will not fail and there a lot of Usher fans and non Usher fans who love Usher’s music THEY ARE LYING TO THEMSELVES B/C THEY ARE BRAINWASHED BY WHAT happened to him in the past. That is over and Usher will make it and his popularity will rise again.

Don’t Let the Haters get to you! THEY ARE GOOD FOR NOTHING LOSERS WHO HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TO HURT SOMEONE’s FEELINGS LIKE USHER. IN THE LONG RUN USHER WILL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH!

His music has always been excellent Except for Burn (worst song)! Every song he ever made was awesome. He never disappoints me.

  31. olalaykon February 7, 2011

i think this guy is really @ the top of his career..haters stop beefing cos this guy has got an amazing talent……………haters get heat……
