New Video: Estelle – ‘Freak (ft. Kardinal Offishall)’

Published: Tuesday 2nd Mar 2010 by Sam

The video for Estelle‘s new single ‘Freak’ debuted literally moments ago. Check out the Nabil Elderkin directed clip above…

Though I’m finding it hard to stop singing the song since hearing it (yes, it’s that addictive), the video didn’t ‘wow’ me as I hoped it would. I mean after watching the behind the scenes footage last week, I was anticipating something with a bit more polish and better special effects, as opposed to ‘this’.

However, luckily for the Londoner, the video just about manages to do the song justice, with its visuals and editing pretty much embodying the essence of the song. Not great, yet not an atrocity either.

Estelle’s new album ‘All of Me’ hits stores later this year.

What do you think of the video?

umm i dont like it. Its too sloppy and all over the place. And the black makeup?? No thank you! She just didnt look right..

She is trying too hard. I liked her better when she was a unique London singer with songs like 1980 or Free and meaningful songs like that.

Now she’s just another Rihanna/Kelis wannabe faux edgy hybrid.

    Pass.

I Love Estelle! She’s so f-in LONDON TOWN with that international twist. She embraces her authentically unique in the midst of this rather faux “different” period we’ve been force feed of late.

Love the Soul II Soul snippet it took me back to summer holidays an canival back when it was really sayin something.

Neecy Estelle has been dearing with her look and her approach to music since I first saw her as a guest MC on a UK MC’s (can’t remember the name) video.

YES ! I love the song ! I’m not the type to like just hype songs out side of hearing it on the radio or in the club. The video was really well done too. I feel like this video belong in this decade and will set the tone for future videos. She might have used samples from 20 years ago but it worked for her.
