With a new reality show on the horizon, R&B singer Brandy and her brother Ray J revealed that they have been inspired by the recent successes of their close friend, Monica. In the interview with HipHollowood.com, Brandy highlighted that she was so impressed with resurgence of Monica’s popularity that she is using her ‘The Boy Is Mine’ collaborator as a model for her future endeavours in music. Brandy has always had a better voice than monica. She can belt with the best, but she has so many other tones that blow monica out the water. I love both artists both Monica has been my girl since 95 real talk. When I first heard Monica sing, I was hooked. That girls vocals are crazy strong and she knows how to use it. Honestly Brandy has always been the most marketable out of the two, but to say she is stronger than Mo vocally, that gets a blank stare from me. In my opinion, I think Brandy has a way better voice than Monica because of her ability to control her voice, and her tremendous ad libs. But I don’t have a preference as far as their music because they both have great R&B music! I think Brandy’s “Human” was very underrated though.

Debuting at #2 when the only other formidable album coming out is Justin Beiber (#1) is hardly a success. Selling less than 200k in your first week is hardly a success. I appreciate her single but honestly I think it would’ve been better if Jazmine S would’ve just sang it herself….wonder when her version will leak. Anyhow I hope that she can pull another single off of her mediocre album…cuz its really not all that. I was really rooting for her…as I was for Brandy’s Human (a better album than Still Standing). If only Missy would’ve gave “Let It Go” to Monica instead of Keyshia Cole. Lets be real yall….Afrodisiac is considered a flop, but sold like 300k+ in the first week. The music industry is in shambles…180k…a success. Not so much.
I agree with LIKECESAER. Brandy and Ray-J exaggerated Monica’s success. Maybe they just want to lower the bar in defining success because Brandy knows that she’ll be lucky if she can even match Monica’s results. I think both Brandy and Monica are talented vocalists but I think they reached their peak a long time ago and are now at a significantly declining, noncompetitive level of success.
