Mariah Carey isn’t going to let the low sales of her ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’ slow her down. The icon has actually returned to the studio. However, this time Carey has put her ‘Memoirs…’ collaborators, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, on pause and reunited with her long-time friend, songwriter/producer Jermaine Dupri. The duo, who created many of Carey’s biggest hits including Billboard’s ‘Song of the Decade’, ‘We Belong Together’, tweeted from the studio about the news which can be seen below:

It’s great to see that Carey is back in the studio with Dupri. Together they have made some of the best music in her career; from ‘Always Be My Baby’ to ‘We Belong Together’ and ‘Get Your Number’. Nonetheless, Carey would do best not to rush this project like she did with her ‘Memoirs…’ LP. Hopefully she takes her time with this album like she did with ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ and craft some of the best music in her career.
While she remains one of the most talented artists in the game, Carey has passed the ill-favoured 40-year age mark and the clock has officially begun ticking against her. If Carey wants to find success, she needs to sing like it’s her last day on Earth and act as though her 18 #1 singles never happened.
She needs to take a break, its too soon to put out another album, why cant she see this??

You guys are so NEGATIVE. The same thing happened to Monica with “The Makings Of Me” which was a gimick so she did a 360 & went back to her R&B roots and now she has a #1 hit on the charts as we speak & her album is selling great too. Mariah needs to go back to her ROOTS which is singing R&B music with POP potential and she will be back on top. Don’t worry about radio friendly records. Make music with SUBSTANCE & PASSION and she can comeback like Monica did.

Let’s not forget that JD produced many songs on E=MC2 as well, but the result wasn’t all that great!!!! she should try to make a comeback in 2011 or 2012 but not 2010!!! take a break!

E=MC2 was a great album.. people need to give it a rest. Probably my least fave song on the album was “Touch my body”.. *shudders* and you see where following the success of that single got her? She needs to leave those elementary lyrics the dream writes alone. And JD makes her SING. Her vocals on “100%” were better than the vocals on her last album.

She needs to call Kanye, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and maybe Rodney Jerkins but stay away from Ryan (he belongs to wannabe Leona) and delete The Dreams number – but she needs to make decent music instead of this teeny bopper rubbish. I am sooo excited for this album, i have a good feeling about it because its with JD, he knows Mariah and what she is capable of achiving for examplle he and Mariah wrote ‘we belong together’ which stayed at #1 for 14 weeks! and it won Grammy Awards and won the song of the decade award! this is going to be AMAZING! and also Mariahs manager tweeted: “Mariah Carey Let’s just say the voice is coming…..All great things take time! I was hoping she would work with someone else. Dupri hasn’t changed his sound in 10 years. “We Belong Together” was successeful, yes, but the the majority of everything else on the Emancipation was goofy gimmickry, just like Dream and Tricky. She needs a brand new team, a fresh sound, and a new look. I’m sick of these Dream and Jermaine collabos. Yes everybody else is working with them, but that doesn’t mean you should do the same.
Mariah and Beyonce need to take a page out of Sade’s book. Take a break, a long break. Give people some space so that they can actually miss you. Then when you do come back your sound is a breath of fresh air to your fans who have been patiently waiting for you. The market is just saturated with music from her.
MC & JD, There is a music chemistry that’s magical when you two make music 2-gether. It touches people’s lives the world over. You have brought people together, saved lives, made people realize what love is and made them shake and shiver. This comes from being Young, Gifted and Blessed.
