Things are not looking good for Rihanna‘s forthcoming ‘Last Girl On Earth’ tour. With initial ticket-sales not being as high as anticipated, the worldwide trek has been hit with another blow – supporting act Nicki Minaj has pulled out of the tour.
Announcing the news on her Twitter page, the popular rapper, offered the following explanation as to her sudden decision…
Ouch. One would think something more serious would have prompted Minaj’s decision. After all, album or no album, going on tour with a chart-topper shouldn’t be anything but an extremely good look for the Young Money star. Then again, when that chart-topper isn’t shifting tickets in the way a worthwhile performer should be, taking a rain check may not be so bad after all.
I doubt Ms. Fenty is fretting, though….she still has the super-talented Ke$ha to open for her.

How is it stupid for Nicki to leave the tour? At least she’s cognizant of her situation. It is better for her to work on her album and prepare it for major release when she is completely satisfied with it, than be like some other artists (a la Rihanna, Pink, etc) who claim they had no input or their vision was not put on in their first album. It is wiser for her to actually finish something of her own than jump on a tour with people who are already established album wise, because as I said before what besides Massive Attack what would the crowd sing along with?

Umm, I actually had a feeling that she was going to do this, or that the entire tour was going to be postponed/canceled all together when I saw that tweet. I am so GLAD that Nicki’s taking this time to finish up her album. She made the right decision. I’m happy that she’s making decisions for herself that not everyone’s okay with (once again). Nicki Minaj is a very successful artist for not having a solid album out, opposed to just mix tapes. People hate on her for being ‘fake’ and so on, when the reality of it is..She’s basically representing a generation of black women who don’t have to be ***hood rats*** in order to be beautiful or successful. So what if she likes Barbie? Loads of people take references/nicknames from pop culture and channel them. Charlie Brown/Jessica Rabbit/Bugs Bunny/Mickey Mouse, just to name a few.
Anyway, you guys are silly to think that Rihanna’s suddenly ‘doomed’ because you think that she’s going to flop with Kesha. Both of them have a large following of fans that’ll make sure that they stay afloat. Then just the odd collaboration of them as it is are bound to sale tickets. If not, then so what? They each make music that easily tops the billboard charts around the world and in digital sales. They’re going to make money..no matter what they do…Tour or No Tour.

Let’s face it this is a blow to the tour. Kesha sold better than Rihanna cause as far as I know Riri hasn’t hit number 1 with this album on the charts has she? And her biggest single to date has been Rude Boy. Also just cause she’s having hits doesn’t mean they aren’t lower than expected or even in terms of units much lower than her previous stuff.
I wish her and Kesha succcess and Pixie Lott who is supported her on the UK leg.
