Despite the epic flop that was their ‘Sweet 7’ LP, the Sugababes have returned to the studio to begin work on their next studio album. Speaking to NOW Magazine, the ladies manager, Mark Hargreaves, revealed the news, adding:
“They’re a very happy group today. They can’t wait to get back into the studio and bring back that feel good factor.”
Assuring fans that things are on the up for the group, Hargreaves also confirmed that the ‘Babe’s 2008 hit ‘Girls’ will be re-recorded to include new member Jade Ewen’s vocals. The revamped version will be used for a US advertising campaign by department store JC Penney.

PR spin at its best, ay? Unfortunately, it’s likely to be in vein. After all, with a tainted reputation and abysmal sales, the public have spoken loud and clear on their take on what’s left of the group. How this same public are supposed to be enthused or lap-up news of new material is kinda baffling.
That said, this is the music industry, and stranger things than a Sugababes comeback have happened.

SUGABABES are so laughable right now, their songs are s*** their line up is so effin boring and there is not one original babe left. they should just call it a day! No. one. cares. anymore.
They should give it now. No one cares for these girls now.
Blah, i totally agree with you, I think the are done, i bought their album, and the only song I liked was Thank you for the heartbreak, and I only liked it because JADE laid down some serious ad-libs. I can’t stand Heidi or Amelle, Ive never liked heidi, because she looks a mess and amelle has changed. They need to embrace JADE as the lead singer and just be back up singers.

What’s the point? But like really?! I mean I love the Sweet 7 album, I think it’s their best work yet. The quality of the album wasn’t the reason why the album has flopped, it was the band and the drama that surrounds them. People are just not interested in the Sugababes now. I think they should release one more single off Sweet 7 so soon, just as a hope to make the album more successful, maybe it could go silver or what, or just go away now for a while. And then maybe release a new album next year, but not now please. I love them, but I think people are not interested them. Not now.
I love them! I think they should release the album in late October, it’s practically impossible to flop that close to Christmas. Take Rihanna for example, her album debuted at #16 but went platinum in 4 weeks, so they should do the same fingers crossed
Hmmm, I don’t know how the sugababes will recover from all this drama but I don’t think rishing out another album will achieve anything short of another flop at this point.
I totally agree with the previous comment… its not the quality of the last album, Sweet 7, that lacked, it was all the drama surrounding the group and the line-up change. Sweet 7 was straight FIRE, IMO. Not sure if a new album will help the group, but I’m glad they’re progressing and moving on.

I can already see where this is going. Theyre going to abandon the UK market. They’re going to try and come over here to the states and start over. BUT IM NOT HAVING IT. Being as that I am a music freak Ive been listening to the Sugababes for almost 8years now and you know what… I DONT KNOW WHO THESE GIRLS ARE BUT THEY AINT NO BABES OF MINE. I’ll spread the word PERSONALLY about this mess they’re trying to cover up and walk away from. JUST GIVE IT UP … JADE GO SOLO LIKE U PLANNED TO DO. U other two KICK ROCKS AND BLOW BUBBLES

Haven’t they gotten the point that noone cares about them? their album debuted at #14 and dropped out the top 40 the next week.

Gosh, so many haters.. I don’t care about the group drama AT ALL. That Sweet 7 album is fire and they need to come to the U.S. where nobody gives a damn about what happened to Keisha or whoever. To be real these girls sound AMAZING together (did you hear their rendition of “rabbit heart” live on youtube?? enough said). It’s a shame RocNation didn’t atleast give them a shot to make an impact, but oh well.
And if they don’t end up working out.. Jade, girl grab that solo deal!
They are tainting the sugababes name by trying to make themselves work. It is clear the public have not taken to the new line up, so get the message girls and either go solo or focus on other projects.
Their management needs to be fired. Sweet 7 was re-recorded w Jade’s vocals sloppily thrown in the mix, and mastered so you can barely tell who’s singing what, after half the original songs with Keisha’s vocals had leaked. Why not take the time to re-group and record all NEW material (and possibly a name change) THEN release it, instead of pushing the album back, forcing Jade in, not giving her her shine and then watching it brick? Foolishness abound. I agree with the other posters, Jade get GONE! It’s not too late…
