Chris Brown lit up the stage at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond last evening. The high-energy performer put together the ‘VA Stand Up’ benefit concert to support the Caribbean nation of Haiti, the Virginia Food Bank and the Red Cross. A host of acts showed up to support Brown including Trey Songz, Keri Hilson, T-Pain, Tyga, Ryan Leslie and many more. Check out a short clip of one of Brown’s performance below:
It’s great to see that Brown is continuing to support Haiti long after it was fashionable to do it. Many celebrities only take part in a such events to raise their profiles during periods of heavy media coverage. Yet, Brown, who took part in BET’s ‘S.O.S.’ concert to help Haiti back in February, is still contributing his efforts to help country which is still in need of assistance. Great stuff.

I haven’t been on the internet as much and I have deleted my twitter account (@docbnd9114) so I haven’t heard all about how the event went. Hopefully it went well and I am glad that Chris put this event together himself and called on his celebrity friends to perform for free (as well as himself). I am also glad that he is still helping the victims in Haiti as well as helping his community in Virginia. It shows that he has a big heart and I wish him the best. I don’t know what it will take for people that are not impress with CB’s talent to give him the credit he deserves. I was in VA and went the show. It was amazing. lineup bow wow, tank,mario,t-pane keri hilson,trez sonz, tega, standup comic, chris brown & dancers , moncia & diddy there on satialite. Show last about 5 hours, Each person sang abut 4 songs except Chris sang about 8 and his dance moves OMG amazing to see in person. This crowd was so excited screaming, clapping jumping OMG. Then they went to Chris after party which I did not attend but the women & men were dress the part for the party.

If not let me explain a few things, I lived in South Florida when one particular hurricane had me and my family without lights, water everything for about 2 weeks and we were the lucky ones… good people who had a heart gave us water and food…we had nothing I can’t imagine what the people of Haiti is experiencing because there devastation was on a much larger scale…be careful what you type and what’s in your heart because the same things can come right back to you…those ppl can give a damn who are helping them as long as they are getting help…the hate runs deep for you and I’m sorry for whatever you are going thru but trust you never know the cards you will be dealt in life so be careful…

Show started about 7:40 it was so damm many people outside without tickets the line was rap around the corner and they had three different lines ,then two other lines was for the ticket holders. I ordered my on line and they mailed them to me.

The music industry has tried to release replacements for CB (Jason Derulo and Jay Sean) but besides their singles selling well, their albums have fared lower than expected.
In My Zone is not a flop of a mixtape because it was ranked one of the highest downloaded mixtapes of 2010 so far. CB gained back alot of his urban audience with the material on In My Zone and he has a video for No BS coming out soon. He and T.I. will be releasing songs and videos from the Takers (August 20) soundtrack. For anyone to think he needed to do this concert because he has no gigs need to know CB is performing in Brazil, Europe, Japan, Jamaica and Philippines in the summer with a likely statewide tour in the fall. He also continues to write and produce for other artists.

The point of the concert was to continue to raise awareness to a much needed cause. Attendees were encouraged to bring can goods.. and not that it is anyones business but my own., yes, I most definitely contributed once again to those suffering in Haiti. It is incredibly disheartening that such a good cause would get so much negativity. God Bless and thank you to all the artist that continue to give back.

Chris said that he wouldn’t put those songs on an album because of the fact that they’re so sexually charged and that for his album, he wants to appeal to all age groups.
