The initial mic issue at the start could have been fatal for the performance, but she recovered well. Got me thinking, though; was she actually singing live?
On another note, I’m gonna need Kelis to command the stage a little more when performing. Afterall, here she is performing a storming dance track, yet standing stone still.

Damn, I guess it’s “Hate On Kelis Month”. The mass misconception and misunderstanding of her personal affairs have created this cyber-hate, where everyone wants to criminalize and blame her. Global warming is worsening – blame Kelis. The economy is bad – blame Kelis. My nuts itch – blame Kelis. Nas is broke – blame Kelis (errr…now, there might be some validity in that statement; but its cheaper to keep her – TEAM KELIS) Make your comments based off of this women’s work, and not that of any other artists, because she cannot be compared; and given that she was doing this way longer than those she is being compared to, she deserves not to even be mentioned in the same sentence as them out of respect. I digress….
On a different note, Kelis did a great job. She sounded quite similar to the track, and I thought that her presence on stage was appropriate. Yeah, some would argue that it would have been nice for her to dance around like she’s drugged, or having a seizure, with glow-sticks-in-hand (a la the rave club scene that this song bumps in), but that is not Kelis’ steez, never have been. So expecting her to do 8-counts, is an expectation of someone who is not a Kelis fan. She explained that this song was written for her son, and she definitely performed this song as if the song was sentimental to her. All in all, great job Kelis’, and I cannot wait for your album to be released.
Thanx for posting – love this tune! I must say she did sing live all the way – you can hear the sound that would have been coming up “in the house” it was a schoolboy error on the part of the sound production team to stream to the main feed.
Acapella is such a great song I couldn’t resist having my kids choir cover it. Thanks to the amazing Kelis for such a great song!
