the song really isn’t great to begin with for singers. he did really well i think, and i liked his runs, but its not a singers song, so when people say a female should sing it….they have already. the song isn’t just what many people can get behind, even if they are deeply patriotic.
but again, most anthems are boring. to the blog writer with his or her “LOL” basically insulting his singing, let’s see you sing such a difficult song. he can sing period. even if you hate him, let’s not pretend he can’t sing, like Britney spears or someone like her.

Chris Brown is here to stay he has talent and he can dance. He is one of the few artists today that has true showmanship. I do not know anybody that can out dance him, outside Michael Jackson. Chris Brown is a shining star and when he is on stage it’s electrifying, when he on stage his presents sends out rays of stomach ranching electric that can’t be explain and when he dance and sings it’s on! If you never seen him perform then you have missed out and you can’t say much about this man talent because you really don’t know. There is no one, I do mean no one, not Kane, or Jayz, and no one can beat his stage performances other than Michael Jackson. Chris Brown is over the top! you know….i never understood EXACTLY what kind of satisfaction people get out of wishing bad things upon others and having so much hate for those who haven’t done anything to you……and i find it quite sad. I asked the Chris Brown stans to direct me to ONE SONG where he delivers the powerhouse vocals they keep speaking of but they CAN’T. All they have done is point fingers because that’s all they know how to do. They’ve been doing it for a year and it’s become so common to them that whenever you question his vocal ability they point at 30 other artists, bring up Rihanna, and anything else to avoid the question. At least Rihanna sounds decent in some of her songs (I.E Russian Roulette) but there is not one song on Chris’ album where he extends his vocal range. He always sounds exactly the same and he CANNOT SING. SMH. I don’t care if you think Rihanna can’t sing, so long as you don’t delude yourself into believing that Chris can because he can’t.

Girl there is nothing I can say that will make you hold Chris responsible for his own actions and his subsequent failing career. You will forever point fingers and reference Rihanna without answering the real questions. I’m not going to go back and fourth with you about “the incident” because the proof is in the pudding. We saw the pictures, we watched the interviews, we read the court documents, we saw the court proceedings on television…but at no point did we see proof that Rihanna hit Chris Brown. Not from Chris, ( as he could have esily used it as a defense in court) , and not from anything else. Pulling up an interview still deflects the main point. I’m not going to waste time pulling up the Tyra Banks interview in which Chris wanted to kill his father (which ironically was in 2007 as well, but no one cares) because I know it proves nothing. He has issues that he still hasn’t addressed and it shows. That is why it is harming his career. His PR has hurt him more than help him and if this continues his career will ultimately fail.
Here we are talking about vocal talent, and Chris’ lack there of. For you to say Chris has vocal talent and Rihanna doesn’t is comical because in all honesty neither of them can sing that well. However if given the choice, i think we both know that Chris’ range is far more limited than Rihanna’s, and you can’t prove otherwise because you KNOW it’s the truth. That was my point. Stop throwing shade and constantly talking about who has “talent” while denying the obvious fact of Chris’ severely limited vocal ability. Yes he can dance be he can’t sing. Crawl and No Air are two songs that showcase his ability to belt notes very loudly, yes, but I’m not talking about that. In all honesty, if you’re going to come here and try to make a point, at least be willing to back it up. That’s ultimately the problem with you Chris Brown stans. I wish I could pull up some old posts from the same people bashing Brown before February of last year. I bet when he was Rihanna’s man, you guys thought he was the most talented brother since Michael Jackson. I didn’t even know who Rihanna was when I saw her on the Grammys with some 20’s style outfit on and I asked my daughter, “who the heck is that and who told her she could sing?” My daughter, who was 13 at the time, said, “Oh her? That’s Rihanna. She can’t sing or dance but she’s famous for being cute and wearing cute clothes.” That was 2 years ago.

HOWEVER – a person has to “earn” that second chance. A person has to show people that he has changed, in order to be forgiven. And I’m sorry to tell you, but Chris Brown has done neither of those things. Him reading to some kindergarten children or hosting some benefit concert is not enough. He hasn’t shown the public he’s grown and learned from his beating on Rihanna, so how can our perception of him be positive? Until he smartens up and REALLY gets his s*** together, it’s going to remain the same way.

But since he did, to me, I took it as he was truely nervous to sing and from watching him sing, like I have said before, you can tell. I am not disagreeing with you on working on his vocals though. Everybody needs a vocal coach, even if they can sing. I think he needs one, but that’s just it right there. If he needs a vocal coach, that means that he CAN indeed sing. First off, I’m a CB FAN and I never argue how much vocal talent he has. I usually say is very talented mainly because he a tremendous dancer and performer. Now if we talk about vocal ability, yes I think he has a pretty decent voice. I only say decent because he can only sing certain things and, as stated in my previous comment, the national anthem isn’t one of them. I think it’s mainly because his voice is very pre-pubescent like @Aunt Jackie said.

I’ve always admired the fact that he could dance though and he used to be a great performer. I don’t hate Chris Brown, I actually had his entire Grafiti album before i listened to it and realized it was mostly auto-tuned and it sucked…I’m far from just a Chris Brown basher, sweetie because I give him a chance. HOWEVER, I refuse to excuse his behavior, or act like this performance was decent when it WASN’T. Same thing goes for his Spring Bling performance where he lip synced the entire thing. Just like I said someone with a high vocal range does not mean that they can sing well. And just because someone can sing well does not mean that they have a high vocal range. For example, Gladys Knight. I think we can definitely agree that woman can sang! She does not have a high range AT ALL, however, that does not take away from the fact that her voice is PHENOMENAL.

Why should we let some one sing the most honorable song of our country that is not a citizen at an event?
The national anthem is song throw out the United States on a daily basis some where including in prisons. We the people of the United States will live and protect the soil of our country. Even if a felon can not serve in the army they still are wards of the United States and some of their crimes can be dropped so they can serve in the Arm Forces.

Some people were pleased with Chris’ performance while some were not and everyone is entitled to feel either way. However, I cannot understand the bickering between the fans and stans or non-fans discussing talent, when everyone has their own criteria of what qualifies a person as talented. So, there is no need to assert ones viewpoint of who is more talented than another when everyone has different opinions regarding it. Though, one cannot judge a person’s overall talent based on one performance because its not rational, especially when every artist has experienced errors with their performances. Nervousness does not defeat a person – regardless of a person’s status – unless they allow it; but, it can make him/her stronger and want to work twice as harder. In response to another poster’s statement of what this post is about, this discussion is about Chris’ performance of the National Anthem at the Mayweather Match – not Rihanna or the incident last year, not his album sales, not his anger issues, not his charity work, not his overall talent, or anything else. So, stick to the topic and stop with the ignorance.
