New Song: Faith Evans – ‘Way U Move (Ft. Snoop Dogg)’

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard new material from R&B singer Faith Evans. However, she seems to be gearing up for a comeback with her new album, ‘Something About Faith’, which is reportedly scheduled for a September 14th release. ‘Way U Move (Ft. Snoop Dogg)’ is supposedly the 1st official single from the LP. Give it a listen below:

This record has that classic 90’s R&B flavour that is light on the ear. On the hand, that strength is also the song’s main setback – this is 2010 not 1998. While it is certainly a great track, it is highly unlikely that the single will enjoy much airplay beyond her core fans and may not even be potent enough to make a substantial impact on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Still, Evans was a prominent figure in the 90’s R&B movement and like Monica, she may be able to surprise everyone with a hit. Truly talent always finds a way.

Hit or Miss?

  3. Madea June 11, 2010

The song is not bad. but needs to be remixed

  4. KNUCK June 11, 2010

As much as singers like Keyshia Cole come out with dated songs.. Faith ain’t doin too bad. And I use Keyshia, but sometimes it’s like no ma’am..

Anyway, I really like the song, but yeah it sounds neo-soulish like somethin musiq soulchild would have done when he first came out. I’m lookin forward to her album tho!

    Love it!

  8. Waddie G. June 11, 2010

I like the song, but it is too weak to be a first single. One thing I noticed about Faith is that her sound has been leaning more towards the neo soul route…so maybe she’s aiming for a new audience.

  9. MaZ June 11, 2010

  20. infamousDaran June 11, 2010

Faith is NOTORIOUS 4 releasing the right singles in my opinion. There are so many tracks that were HOT on her past albums, and should have singles, but once again it was only the “okay” ones that were. There is a track I heard by her called “Stay Home” its on youtube..I sure as hell hope its on “Somethin About Faith” and its put out as a single…if not Faith and I are gonna need to have a HEART to HEART..Lol !!!!

  21. infamousDaran June 11, 2010

Opps I meat to put NOTORIOUS 4 NOT RELEASING the RIGHT TRACKS…MY BAD!

  22. infamousDaran June 11, 2010

  23. Randy June 11, 2010

I like it nice, smooth. Snoop just fits right in, he just has that effect though. 2 GREATS on one track, what’s better?

  24. TrizLuvsBee June 12, 2010

    Love it. My summer jam!

  25. roadsareendless June 12, 2010

    QUEEN OF R&B MY ASS.
that spot is reserved for mariah, so sit down. :/

  26. Dee June 12, 2010

I’m feeling this joint…….it does have an old school vibe that reminds me of music from previous decades….but i think thats what makes it tight…Music today doesn’t have that same effect as music from the past….I’m hoppin on that new Faith album as soon as it drops

  27. Angie June 12, 2010

This song sounds like it was written by a nine year old. The lyrics are elementary and it sounds very dated.

  28. DaTurners June 12, 2010

I’ve been waiting for Faith. I might be her biggest fan. I’m trying to like this song. It’s not bad, but definitely shouldn’t be a first single. It seems like she’s not TRYIN’ to have a career. =(

  29. JonathanGardnerTV June 12, 2010

The song is nice, definately a more Adult Contemporary R&B/Neo-Soul route but definately not a R&B crossover single like “Again” was for her :\ The song is alright, it sounds like a grower but I think she should have came with something much better than this for the lead single…the singles from her last album – “AGAIN” and “MESMERISED” knock this song into a different stratoshphere

It’s ok, but if she wants to survive in the industry today, she will have to come harder than this.

  31. Chike Evans June 12, 2010

People need to realize, Faith Evans is an artist who is true to her craft. She is not trying to compete with what is already existing. She is creating timeless music that will have lasting power. The so called divas of today with their auto tune & synthisized voices will not be around in the next 5 to 10 years. Was this single strong in a sense of what gets rotation on stations today? NOPE! But you have to admit that because it sounds different it stands out. It’s a refreshing break from the regular digitized hum drum of what is on rotation these days. I welcome the difference. Long live the FIRST LADY of RnB. Waiting for September 14th with open ears. Love ya Faye!!!!!

  32. hairman01 June 12, 2010

I LOVED IT! SMOOTH AND GENUINE

  33. bbbbbb June 12, 2010

wow… i can hear this song in 2000 … this is RnB… this kind of music should be back!!!!
TLC, black street, 3T, dru hill, .. wow…
    LOVE IT.

  34. kev June 12, 2010

Faith will always get a warm reception from me. I always liked her style and she is very talented. This song is fine for an album track, but she should release a first single with more of a punch. She’ll get it right! I wish her the best of luck!

  35. teflon boy June 12, 2010

Way too much emphasis on sales in this day and age…., forget sales cos really no one is selling like they could’ve done pre-internet…, and for anyone who is I have to assume their core fanbase don’t know how to use it lol (case in point Susan Boyle)

The song wasn’t my cup of tea but Faith like many other lower selling but talented artists has a audience and with music like this she clearly wants to be played in the home and in the car, not the club….,

  36. infamousDaran June 14, 2010

I’m almost certain there is another VERSION of this song that is going to KNOCK HARDER than anything we’ve heard in awhile…Lol…smart Faith very SMART..I know wat ur doing

  37. Mr. Ed June 16, 2010

Anyone that doesnt feel this song in their heart is too much of the mind and likes robotic sh*t.

  38. MR. STILL STANDING June 18, 2010

    Go Faith.

Looks like REAL R&B is back.

Monica, K. Michelle, Dondria, Fantasia are the start of bringing R&B back in 2010 and now we have Faith back. I appreciate this song for it’s soulful R&B sound

  39. lovedontlivehere June 20, 2010

Well to all those who didn’t kno this single was co written by her lil sis. The song has a good vibe and I love it. faith did the right thing and from what I hear her sis wrote a few joints on this album I can’t wait to hear them

  40. Karen Simmons August 24, 2010

Absolutely a beautiful song! The melody is right on target, Faith has a beautiful voice, and Snoop just put the icing on the cake! I’m loving this joint!
