With reports swirling that Christina Aguilera may be on her way out of RCA/Sony Music in search of greener pastures at Live Nation, the chairman of the latter (who doubles as the singer’s manager) has decided to speak out against the allegations.
Irving Azoff took to Twitter yesterday to deny that Aguilera is leaving RCA as she is currently under a long-term contract. Furthermore, the music mogul made it clear that “no one is giving up on ‘Bionic’“, claiming that the occasionally dressed singer is simply focused on completing her new movie, ‘Burlesque’.
Azoff is basically saying that after the millions spent on promotional ventures for the sales disaster that was ‘Bionic’, RCA has simply put the increasingly worsening situation on pause to focus on ‘Burlesque’ aka ‘Glitter 2’. Each passing day that her label ignores the album’s blatant failure is a lost opportunity to possibly salvage the situation. ‘You Lost Me’ was dead on arrival at radio outlets and instead of trying to get the song off the ground, Aguilera is busy playing dress up with Cher; showing little interest toward the record on which she claimed to have worked so hard at creating.
Aguilera better make 5 copies of that contract with RCA and put one in the office, one in the car, one under her mattress, one at her mother’s house and bury the last because it’s only a matter of time before somebody at the label tries to get rid of her. Azoff won’t be able to protect her forever and when the time comes all the king’s horses and all the king’s men won’t be able to put Aguilera’s career back together again. “We’ve lost it all…”

I agree. Bionic is definitely a solid effort from Christina. They need to push it as much as possible (even on a smaller scale). Maybe do some small venues. It seems like the reason this album didn’t do well based on Christina’s personality and not the actual music.

It is unfortunate and sad that Christina is not leaving RCA. Her Career problems were not caused by her [for the most part]. She has herself surrounded by incompatant jerks. Barry Wiess and the RCA/ Jive Label Group do not want originality out of an artist, they just want hits. I bet what she recorded for Bionic [originally] was far better than the songs that ultimately got on the album. I bet RCA heard what she did originally and said “this ain’t commercial”. I think more recently she went in to the studio with the RCA handculffs on which limited her creative ability. If you listen to other label execs like Jimmy Iovine [who has worked as a producer, before becoming starting and becoming CEO of Interscope Records] he will tell you how important it is to sign artists who are different and original. Barry Wiess [CEO of RCA/ Jive Label Group] on the other hand says its important to sign artists with commercial potential. He says nothing about originality. Weiss also has no experience as a musician, producer, engineers etc. As a result he does not understand the artist.
Christina staying with RCA will mean more of the same insanity that we saw with this album. IF she stays at RCA the future albums she does will be unorginal, uninspiring and mediocre. Thats what RCA will have her doing. Clive Davis is no longer CEO, he may have stood by her the last time with B2B. Now he is chief creative officer at Song music and is Barry Weiss’ puppet within the RCA/ Jive Label Group. Her management is also a disaster. They refuse to fight for her creative freedom. Azoff is more concerned about his paycheck than Christina’s well-being.
Staying with these people will destroy her career. The best way to save her career is to ditch RCA, Azoff and LiveNation; then join Geffen Records, AEG Live and a new management for a clean start. After that she would just need to release a great album where she is true to herself. There is no sign of these things happening however and right now the future of her career looks bleak. If no major change is made she will be finished. If that is the case then I can say I am proud of her 8 years of success and inspiring music which was between 1999 and 2007. The past two years have been a downward tailspin, ever since the 2008 MTV VMA Awards. Time is running out for her to turn this around.

Xtina got a lot of exposure for this “Bionic” album. the problem was not the album or the songs. In fact the problem was her image/personnality. Her style was not special. Nothing was special here and that’s the problem. It failed because nothing was special for her comeback. And concerning her movie yes it’s bad timing but when you know you’re supposed to be taken by your music you don’t plan to do a movie at the same time. this is pure logic.

Since she went to the past w/ her B2B album she’s was going for a more futuristic route w/ this one, too bad that’s what every other pop star is trying to do. & the promotion did have something to do w/ it: Having only one single out (one of the worst songs on the album) which failed to do some decent charting they should’ve pushed back the date & released another single.

Rated X- Yes I did put Gaga in the same categories as the likes of Katy Perry, Ke$ha, and Rihanna, because shes just as untalented as they are. One flop album (when it’s a not a debut or a sophomore effort) does not automatically make one irrelevant. If Christina were untalented, then yes, it would signal the end of her career, but that is not the case. She can bounce back. Mariah endured a much more humiliating failure during the “Glitter” era, even to the point that people doubted she would ever be successful again. Look how she proved the naysayers wrong. Kelly Clarkson’s album “My December” was a colossal flop in comparison to the multiplatinum success of her previous albums, and on top of that she had some serious beef with her label regarding creative control of her album. They didn’t drop her, she made her next album, and it was a success. Oh, and Kelly is on the same label as Christina. So I highly doubt that RCA will drop her unless her next album flops also. You guys are too ready to count someone out after one stumble.

Videos don’t mean ish anymore. I don’t think videos determine chart position as they once did before this digital age. People download songs before they are even released to radio, hence chart performance is more determined from the radio and downloads. Um, what television station actually plays videos? NONE! Yes, youtube and internet is the avenue of watching videos but I don’t think that has much of an impact. If a song is going to a hit or even successful then it would have been already, not because the video just came out! For example, ‘Love the Way You Lie’ hit number one on itunes AND the hot 100 BEFORE the video was even released, no?

So… her being constantly hailed for her vocals more so then any other female pop star of this era doesn’t count as attaining legendary status? Her ending up on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”, being in the company of some serious legends doesn’t count? And ten years, three successful albums, “not knowing what direction to go with her talents”? You can’t accuse of being a “trend-follower” during the “Stripped” and “Back To Basics” eras, because I didn’t notice anyone else doing what she did during those times. And yes, Mariah has sold more albums and had more #1s … so? She’s also way more popular and well-known than Radiohead, does that mean she’s MORE legendary then them? Sales are not the sole thing you should be basing legendary status on.

ok. First. Christina is NOT original and Neither is Gaga or riahnna or annyone before Cher. Lets get that s*** straight. Second. Christina’s voice is there with Mariah’s and Withney huston’s. NO other b**** can say that. And we have seen tons of b****** come and go. But guess what? Talent remains. Christina believes she is the next Madonna and lets face it. She isn’t. She has more vocal talent. Wayyyyy more. But it’s wasted. Bionic was a flot because the concept and the way she promoted the LP was alll over the place. I couldn’t believe she said it was inspired by her son when the lyrics include invitations and instructions on how to eat out a woman and how she enjoys being on a girs ehem. There was about 3 good songs in the album. Maybe 4. ‘You lost me’ is incredibly beautyful. I believe people will go back and hear that song and be like ‘woooooow’ because it’s beautyful. The video sucked ass cus again Xtina is trying to hard to be realevant and the b**** is all over the place. ‘Woo Hoo’ not my fav track and very slutty but it gives everyone (with the excception of GaGa) a run for their money. ‘Elastic Love’ Heres the ‘NOw what GaGa b**** -slap- moment of the album. Brilliant and likable. I am shocked it was not a hit. This song is great. ‘Bobblehead’ fucken fun. But sounds like a M.I.A clone. Not good when she claims she reinvents (not clones)herself. Now the failures. Everything else on the album. It was allll over the place. Too arrogant and plain idiotic. People NEVER like arrogant. EVER. . Overall. This album was lukewarm. She could have saved it by keeping the number of tracks to 9 and including the 4 better songs and remixed a couple of the less sucky ones like ‘Glam’. Her image. She could have potentionaly been the ‘Anti GaGa’ minimalism would have made her stand out more then her n*** body. A cleaner image. Less cluttered and futuristic accents would have worked better. I feel for cristina. And I know she will make music forever lol. Lets npt fool ourselfs now people. But she needs to take her wannabe Madonna stupid arrogance down. It’s not helping her.
Aguilera is the most talented singer out there and its not like she hast walked away from a label befor or that she hast fired a manager becuz she wanted a say she is powerful bionic is an amzong apbim and btw the tour was sold out i tried to buy a ticket yo the boston show and all the good seats was taken she cancelled it beciz she said that all her concets have been extermly entertaning (very tru) and she had no previous time to pit them together and becuz burlesque took up all her tim ergo 3 late night shows in one night nobody else does that one the bionic tour will be here this summer im super exzited buying my icket early and cant wait and i hope just so all of these f****** haters stfu her next single is a major hit and every luvs her again and bsides all of these other gutls with there 15 of talentless fame will fade into the blackness soon again aguilera had a decade of hits lets see if she can make 20 years i know she can for anyone whi hast heard all of bionic plezz lisen to all the songs online then buy the album cuz i know if you here them all youll be woundering why it ist at the top right kniw ajd buy the burlesque soundtrack sooo good cher and christina make a great duo and besides you people act like scence someone else was on yop she went to the studio and thru and album together when she had been recording it scence 2008 while she was filming burlesque and raisnflg a child and dealing with her husband and being as perfect as she is : ) real x tina fand luv bionic and all her other stuff she doest copy anyone and evryone copus her cought cough pinks raise our glass kesha we r who we r katys firework gagas everything csn all be traced back to the orignal gay anthem beautiful and they all copy her other stuff which i really dot have time toist so yea xtina is amzing and always will be you are what you are beautiful but can be still dirrty when you wat to your stronger than everand we know youll never stop fighting you really do keep getting better and they cant hold you down yo.
