Ciara may not be sharing details about the condition of her long delayed ‘Basic Instinct’ LP but she has no problem talking about her hopes and dreams. The ‘Ride’ singer revealed to Paper magazine that one day she hopes to be an “icon” and that one day people will be looking for “the next Ciara”. Check out what she had to say below:
On her ultimate goal as a musician
My ultimate goal for myself as an artist is to be known as an icon, a legend. I do hope to be very wealthy. Beyond just my career, I hope to create a legacy for my family that’s never been created before. And to be an icon, to be a legend one day. Tons of Grammy’s would be great one day. I hope to travel around the world and to meet every possible fan I can meet around the world. I would love to be an icon that’s so amazing and so strong that one day people can be like, “You can be the next Ciara.” {Source}
As a dancer there is no question that Ciara has already established herself as one of the best who has ever touched the stage. However, if she wishes to become a legend like Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston then she will need to focus on having a wider cultural impact with her music. Ciara is a very talented girl but until she finally decides to release ‘Basic Instinct’, icon status will remain that much further away from her grasp.

She has a broad musical style that isn’t restricted to either urban or mainstream IMO. Yes, I think she is more Pop than anything, though. Ciara can’t do pop (see:Fantasy Ride). Therefore, she is attempting to make the transition back to urban roots. She came out in a time where she was considered the Princess/Queen of Crunk, but that s*** died out fast. Now she’s stuck in a place where she has to search for ways to sell. So considering she’s already three albums in, IT AIN’T GON’ HAPPEN. The end.

Anyway, there is a complete difference in Ciara and Wayne. First off Wayne is an artist who’s on a label that supports him even if he flops 10 times in a row (Cashmoney Records). Ciara is on a major label that does NOT have enought time, money, or sympathy to sit around for a hit album.
And secondly, I guess you didn’t read my entire comment. The amount of time/albums is NOT the sole reason for her not being able to become an icon. Ciara attempted to change her style after her first/second album to something more mainstream and it FAILED! In result, she has to change BACK to appealing to urban audiences which isn’t gonna get you nowhere but on the urban radio stations and BET. Unlike Wayne, who did the southern rap music, then changed to more mainstream and it worked! Now he has a broader fanbase (white people).
Also Wayne has an advantage in that he is a rapper, which is great when being featured on other artists songs/singles. He did the ULTIMATE promotion by featuring on a wide range of other artists music i.e. Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Gym Class Heroes, etc. Ciara CAN’T do that. Like I said before, considering she hasn’t done mainstream music successfully, mainstream audiences can give two shits about her or her music. She is stuck in the “urban box” and now you stans have to say she slaying the URBAN charts instead of saying she’s slaying the billboard hot 100 charts! You NEED a mainstream audience to be considered an icon and I don’t think Ciara ain’t got it. PERIOD!

As a dancer there is no question that Ciara has already established herself as one of the best who has ever touched the stage. However, if she wishes to become a legend like Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston then she will need to focus on having a wider cultural impact with her music. Ciara is a very talented girl but until she finally decides to release ‘Basic Instinct’, icon status will remain that much further away from her grasp.
It takes more than snazzy dance moves to become an icon.
It takes longevity, breaking barriers, setting a high standard & delivering quality music that sells.
Unfortunately for CiCi she lacks all of the above.
Goodies won’t be remembered years from now except maybe being her biggest hit, that’s providing that she last for years to come.
More power to her though, Shoot for the moon… For, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars! 😉

Ciara couldn’t even be an icon in the dance world because there is NOTHING distinctive about her dancing aside from the gimmicks (The Matrix, winding and grinding, etc.)

Ciara is nothing but a gimmick and is not innovative, versatile, or unique enough to become such a thing! People like Janet and Madonna, who can’t sing worth lick came out when MUSIC WAS STILL EVOLVING, so therefore, they were able to easily reinvent themselves to the new genres/trends of music for all of those decades. They did things that no one was doing at the time because again, music was evolving. There’s nothing much to do in music unless you’re extremely creative, which Ciara is not.
And why the hell do y’all praise her for dancing so much? Y’all must be the worst dancers in the world because I’ve seen many of people dance just like Ciara and even better than her on TV DANCE SHOWS! The only “unique” and amazing dancers I’ve seen are the Jabawalkees! Seriously, y’all don’t remember the thousands of people who crunked, pop and locked, booty shook, and hip-hopped on TV? Ciara dances like a strippers. All she does is spread her legs, shake her a**, and gyrates! So no, even with her dancing “talent” she can’t become iconic.
