@Lady …..You are correct in stating that if you stripped away all of the distractions surrounding Rihanna’s alleged success what would have? Certainly not the singing talent of Beyonce or Christina Agularia, or the performing talent of Lady GaGa, or ICONS Tina Turner, Madonna etc. Ppl need to set down with this “MAGICAL THINKING” surrounding Rihanna’s “SUCCESS”! But not for the media constantly propping her up she would have left the limelight along time ago!

“Rihanna came to her first headlining concert at the Garden Thursday night armed.
Rifles, flames, bombs, even a giant tank adorned the stage at this anxiously incendiary event.
The star dressed the part as well, anointing herself with militaristic shoulder pads, blood-red hair, and clothing that looked like it could pass muster with a professional wrestling carnival.
Even the music seemed barbed.
With a band led by former Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, the songs took on a far more brutal edge than on CD.
Rihanna has titled this well-defended road show the “Last Girl on Earth” tour, centering it on a singing/dancing, post-apocolyptic world meant to present the singer as the ultimate survivor in a world gone mad.
That’s an awfully global reaction to a very personal event.
Like her recent “Rated R” album, last night’s show argued the 22-year-old singer is nobody’s punching bag – a clear reaction to being treated like exactly that by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2008.
Unfortunately, it’s not only potential abusers who might have felt put off by last night’s display.
Rihanna’s show had a numbing, overstated quality – “empowerment” used as a pre-emptive strike.
Of course, in a world gone Gaga, a girl has to do something to stand out. And, on that score, Rihanna didn’t stint.
Opening with the suicidal “Russian Roulette,” Rihanna unveiled an unendingly vivid and rich display of video tricks, buttressed by a kick line of agile dancers.
The star herself impressed as well with her action hero figure and the more powerful aspects of her voice.
But Bettencourt’s showy guitar pyrotechnics only made the songs seem more leaden.
Even a more buoyant tune, like “Shut Up and Drive” lost its get up and go.
Some hints of the softer, more fun Rihanna of yore did peak through.
In “Rude Boy” she drew on her Island roots for a playful Caribbean cadence, and in “Love the Way You Lie,” she got at the more sad and reflective side of an abusive relationship.
Too bad in so much of the rest, her overheated new persona only made the show seem cold.“

Rihanna is delusional little girl if she thinks that working with a misogynist like Eminem was a good idea. She was used by E is not even funny. One would think that all of the criticisms of the LTWYL video would have been shared but no all of the backlash is on her. If I remembered correctly, its the woman who was the aggressor in the video and the man was trying to restrain her (the way Em thinks DV is started – by the woman). When they perform together he hardly wants to interact with her (if any at all).
There she was in the video making those body gestures to make it seem like DV is s***. People are starting to see the true Rihanna, the one who turned DV into a mockery and take away from all the real victims out there. To Rihanna its all about the dollar and a hit no matter who suffers in the process and for that I say eff “Rebel” Rihanna and her damn gimmicks. A sell out in all aspects is what she is.
