The 1st track to be lifted from JoJo’s upcoming ‘Can’t Take That Away From Me’ mixtape has just surfaced. ‘In The Dark’ was co-written by the young singer herself and produced by Jordan Gatsby. Give it a listen below courtesy of Rap-Up:
The bass on this track goes hard. It’s great to see JoJo taking her music in a different direction than the Disney Pop sound that most people associate with her look and sound. She has certainly grown as an artist and I am eager to see what else she has to offer, especially on the vocal front given her impressive range.

I love it’s mature without going the boring “I’m a s*** now route”. I like the relaxed vocals ..we all know that JoJo voally is a beast! This track is s*** as hell! Love it! I hope her next official project get the attention she deservees.
P.S. – Why doesn’t she leave Black Ground Records?

That beat goes dumb hard! Personally I dont mind artist who really can sing using autotune although I want to hear her voice this is different for her, i like!… and its not like the autotune is a crutch, we all know she got vocal chops.
JoJo’s upcoming album All I Want Is Everything still hasn’t gotten a set release date which leaves the young singer to drop a mixtape for her starving fans after 2 years which the album was promised to drop (back in summer of 2008). Since well over 20 tracks from her upcoming album was leaked, JoJo and her team was smart enough to go back to the drawing board and refresh the whole project. In my opinion, all the leaked songs were strong enough to catapult the still t*** singer back up to the Top 10 Billboard charts, as she tackled more mature subject matters and the music itself was more R&B-Soul driven that still had enough sweetness to it to appeal to her Pop (popcorn, bubblegum) fans that she garnered with her 2 previous efforts. JoJo has a soulful voice, a voice that any real singer should be scared of and although much of Can’t Take That Away From Me doesn’t display that, it’s a strong enough mixtape to thrust her back into the spotlight . You can expect to hear a more subdued vocal with a uptempo, Techno-Pop, dance/Hip-Hop electronica, futuristic production with her upcoming mixtape. And might I say, this mixtape does not reflect the new direction of All I Want Is Everything. 🙂
