New Video: Usher – ‘DJ Got US Falling In Love (Ft. Pitbull)’

Published: Wednesday 25th Aug 2010 by Trent

Usher just released the music video for his new single, ‘DJ Got Us Falling In Love (Ft. Pitbull)’. The track has thus far climbed to #7  on the Billboard Hot 100 and #51 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Check out the video below:

There was nothing particularly noteworthy or original about that video. In fact, the clip looked like a far lass interesting version of his ‘Yeah!’ video off his ‘Confessions’ collection.

However, one thing that was somewhat striking about the production was Usher’s dancing. Other than being generally unimpressive, Usher’s steps were sluggish and dated. He seemed t be struggling to keep up with his backup dancers and looked more like a an artist desperate to stay young and fresh instead of accepting his loss of energy. Maybe it’s time that he tones down the dancing a bit and find other ways to impress his audience. Let it burn Usher. Let it burn.

    It was alright. Usher could have really shoveled out a higher budget and hotter choreography for the first single from his Versus EP. Artists get away with a lot because they think cuz we already love them, they can give us sub par work.

    I’m not asking for another Confessions because every art has it’s time… but we know and Usher knows it could have been better. This beat has a fast tempo and the dancing was uninspired and lagging in so many ways.

    The video was maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10. Not a video I am dying to see again. Videos like OMG where more interesting.

    But it’s nice to see him doing his thing again. Always a fan of Usher.

    he was keeping up with his dancers fine. the way they recorded this video is why it seems at times he is a millisecond behind. They first recorded everyone else (dancers/other clubgoers) in most cases, and then recorded Usher dancing (which is how they slowed down the other dancers/etc seperately from Usher). So, when they joined these 2 recordings together the editor may have been a millisecond behind linking Usher’s choreography & the dancers. Usher isn’t necessarily losing his dancing ability… His ability is just less than people like Chris Brown. Back in the day Usher was the BEST, and he still is one of the best. He hasn’t lost his skills at dancing or singing.

    Usher is overrated

  13. jess363 August 25, 2010

    @SPEEZY

    MJ had more dancing energy than his “proteges” or “current counterparts” throughout his life because he started performing PROFESSIONALLY AT AGE 5!!!! When you’re used to dancing for most of your life, you rarely lose energy. Even Janet can’t keep up as well because she started in her 20s. Usher is a good dancer but he is losing his spark & he looks a little rusty. Besides, MJ used to lock himself in a room at his parents house & dance for hours, without eating. HE TRAINED HIS BODY TO KEEP UP WITH RIGOROUS DANCING. Usher & CB dont’ do that & if they said they did, they would be lying.

  14. truth serum August 25, 2010

    Where is Fli and Moody (his personal trainer)? Do they no longer dance anymore? I’m sorry but the choreographers he has been working with lately are horrible, and the dancing here is an indication. He did the Holy Ghost stomp, the Riverdance, and a Cherokee Indian mating/tribal stance and all of it amounted to what kind of fuckery am I looking at… If you are not going to shell out money to bring in some fresh new moves and a likewise better concept, then don’t bother making a video. It’s already in the top 10 anyway.

    Agree with Beemichael as far as response to Trent though. His gay ass stay doing the most, while praising Kelly Rowland whose videos are about as interesting as a dirty dish towel.

  15. truth serum August 25, 2010

    @jess363

    If they said they did, it’d be unhealthy. The psychological torture and physical abuse that MJ received at the hands of his father and the type of scrutiny he was subjected to at such a young age led to a multitude of problems for MJ… He was an amazing performer, but had to sacrifice so much & I would not want to ask neither Usher nor Chris Brown to do something like that. They are both good as they are… really, the problem is that nearly every thing they’ve done we’ve already seen from MJ himself, Janet, and other carbon copy pop stars who have used the same formula to achieve success. Both MJ and Janet had the benefit of honing their performance and dance skills at a time when such heavy choreography was the exception not the norm.

    The video is deleted.

    But I do agree Trent. Nowadays Usher lacks that energetic dancing. It looks VERY awkward and he should stop. I LOVE my Usher, but his dancing is poo! It was even noticeable in the ‘Here I Stand’ era in his ‘Love in This Club’ video. I think he should decrease the dancing in his videos and his performances because it only makes him look more desperate. IMO, he was never that AMAZINGNESS of a dancer anyway, he was just better than EVERY other male artist.

  19. Somebody is scared August 25, 2010

    I dont understan why yall are getting so deep when it comes to Usher.his is still shitting on chris brown & his 3 years carreer.
    Yes he is getting lazy.The right question should be:Why a lazy Usher is still impressing the mainstream audience while all your fav black singers are still struggling to have a top 40 hit?

    @beyonce knowles:

    look at this Usher=a diamond album ,9 #1 hits,11 #1 r&b hits, 16 top 10 hits, 5 grammy, and justin bieber .Where is the flop?

  20. KRS0822 August 25, 2010

    Usher did you sell you soul? Because something about you is not right. This is not you at all. Where is the old Usher at?

  21. Heaven August 25, 2010

    Ego or money…hmm…should rethink that tour thing bruh…lol

  22. pez37 August 25, 2010

    @KRS0822

    Stop that “selling soul to the devil” s***. Do you really think all these artists are selling their souls?? They work hard and struggle to get where they are & people like you want to give credit to “the devil” for their success of failures . SHUT UP

    @TRUTH SERUM

    Tortured or not, the daily ass whoopings, fear, strong work ethic, and attention to fine details & practice helped to make MJ one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Young artists nowadays work hard but they don’t pay attention to fine details. They don’t rehearse non-stop. Chris Brown & Usher would be even better performers if they had that kind of “harsh” self-discipline instilled in them.

    I’m glad that TRENT has the courage to say this…cuz it seems no one else does. He seems to be losing a step or 3…Here to hoping he locks himself in a dance studio somewhere cuz it’s not working…

  27. ILOVEXTINA August 26, 2010

    He needs to do something cuz these dancing videos are already tired & dated.

  28. Melissa August 26, 2010

    Shut the f*** up Trent! usher can still dance! I saw him perform live on friday.

  29. truth serum. August 26, 2010

    @pez37

    Yes, they would have been very great performers and would have had to sacrifice their life for the sake of entertainment like MJ did and die extremely young due to the rigorous activity they put their bodies through. That is the point I am making. I loved MJ, but many portions of his life seemed sad and I would not want Usher nor Chris Brown or any artist really to deal with the gravity of issues that MJ ..and the earlier entertainers who seemed to have tragic endings had to deal with.

  30. Mike Makau August 28, 2010

    Usher is dope in this clip,dances to the beat.I do disagree with this critic,here,we see a different Usher trying to give us flavour,afterall,variety is the spice of life,as an RnB crooner,he executes the steps wonderfully.Ush. Got us falling in love with him once more,thank you Usher.Back with a bang,Yeah man!
